So this is the 3rd book in the series, but can’t be read as a standalone as a lot of the other characters show up in this book. So this is set in Canada, and Mitch, who is a Canadian Mounted Police offer meets Kay who is a Veterinary Surgeon. They meet because Mitch is investigating a string of robberies at clinics. I did enjoy this book. Not like the first two, but it was a very well written slow burn, small town romance.

I received this ARC through #netgalley and I am voluntarily reviewing this book

Veterinary Surgeon is a slow-burn romance set in a small town in Canada. Mitch, RCMP Corporal,
has lived in Thresherton for years. She's wanted to commit and settle into love, but hasn't found the right one. Here comes Kay, a veterinary surgeon. She's only been in Thresherton for a few months and has plans to finish her residency in a town nearby. After she finishes that, she wants to go to the U.S. to continue working on her career. Kay doesn't think she's capable of love.

The two start out flirting and being "friends" as they continue to get to know each other. As they're becoming friendly, drugs start to go missing at the clinic Kay works at. Mitch is the only one available to investigate. She starts off by searching the clinic as more evidence comes up, the more Kay seems like the suspect. Their relationship changes and starts to clash. Can they fix their relationship or is Kay just going to leave?

It's the 3rd book in the Thresherton Community Series. You do not have to read any of the other books to understand the story/characters. I did not read any of the other books, and I still enjoyed this book. I liked Mitch and Kay from the beginning and was rooting for their relationship. I was surprised at how many LGBTQ+ folks there were in the story, especially a majority of them working at the clinic. As someone in the LGBTQ+ community, I found it strange. There are obviously friend groups that have all different orientations/genders, but this story seemed to focus primarily on lesbians. I think it would've been cool to see other members of the LGBTQ+ community included.
Overall, I enjoyed the slow romance between the two.

This was an enjoyable small town lesbian romance with a mystery built in. I appreciated the butch femme dynamics. I feel like that gets poo poo'd as stereotypical but it's my favorite. I definitely liked Mitch more than Kay but she's an acquired taste and I'm sure the author wrote her that way. I really liked the secondary characters as well. I'm going to have to go back in this author's work and see if they're in a book! I received an ARC of this book from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

This book was the perfect mix of a lesbian romance and animals. I am not going to lie to you I wanted to read this book purely based on the fact that it has a dalmatian on the cover but I am very glad I pick it up. This was a great lesbian romance. It was nice to actually have a butch love interest as that isn't the case as often as you may think. And while the animals weren't really a big part of the book they were in the backyard and I enjoyed that too. I did feel as if the book moved a little fast but that isn't a major complaint. Overall this is a solid addition to my ever growing collection of lesbian romance.

Really cute book, but I was not in love with it. The writing is basic, and the story too. The character were really cute tho.

A good little read by Nancy Wheelton. This is the 3rd book in the series. Veterinary Surgeon isn't my favorite but is still enjoyable. It is your classic slow-burn storyline between Mitch, a Candian Mounted Police offer, and Veterinarian surgeon Kay. Mitch is ready to commit, but Kay is driven towards her profession. When a number of drugs are stolen from the clinic, Mitch is there to investigate, the more she investigates, the more Kay becomes a suspect. Add to that their opposing relationship goals and the fact that Kay is only stopping in Thresherton a year before she leaves to start a new job, falling in love definitely seems impossible. But once pride and profession begin to clash, things start to get harder for the pair.

'Veterinary Sureon' is a small town, romance read, I recommend that you read the previous books first tho, rather than just jump into the 3rd. I've given 'Veterinary surgeon' a nearly 4 Star.

A veterinary student, Kay is a no-strings kind of woman who isn't afraid to ask for what she wants, but neither is Mitch. Mitch, part of the Canadian police, wants what her friends have: a loving family. Can something develop between the two of them when they obviously are looking for different things? Maybe Mitch will help Kay realize that what she really wants is different than what she thinks she wants.
A fast-paced book, full of tender moments and clashes of ideas, this book is a great choice. The characters' relationship evolves with the book, as their personalities adapt to each other and their chemistry grows. Even though the conflict, in my opinion, was not strong enough, the book has well-developed characters and a good plot that well make keep turning the pages and not wanting to put it down until you finish it

This was a really good book. I loved all the relationships between the characters and I really liked the relationship between Mitch and Kay. Their romance was a slow burn one with Mitch wanting to get to know Kay better before falling into a lust filled liaison we Kay. At first I wasn't really feeling the Kay character, because she felt to forceful, but as the story went along ,and I got know her more she grew as a person and I liked her more. Mitch was such a sweetheart and I loved how all she wanted to do was help people and take care of the people she loved. The supporting characters were great also and helped to make the story even better. I would definitely recommend this book to my friends and family, and can't wait to see what this author writes next.

I really enjoyed this book. This story takes place in Thresherton Canada and focuses on Kim the new surgeon at PVS Clinic and Mitch the RCMP officer. The story flowed smoothly and I thought the characters were fully developed and amazing. The secondary characters were a joy. I recommend 4.5 stars.

Firstly, this is the third installment of the Thresherton Community series, preceded by Veterinary Partner and Veterinary Technician—neither of which have I read. That did not diminish my enjoyment of this book. It just makes me want to read the prior two. Secondly, I adore women in uniform, especially a gorgeous butch who opens doors and knows how to treat a lady. Thirdly, I know nothing about the Royal Canadian Mounted Police except what I learned from the Dudley Do-Right cartoons. Lastly, I am an animal lover who watches all the Vet shows I can find. So, with the main characters being a RCMP Corporal and a veterinarian I had high hopes for this story. I was not disappointed.

Mitch (hates her name Suzanne) Mitchell patrols the area around her hometown of Thresherton and is seemingly loved and respected by everyone. She is a mentor to the town’s teenagers, especially those who are queer or need a sounding board. (She is a bit like Officer Do-Right, but not as dumb.) Lately, there has been a rash of thefts of expensive farming equipment, and she doesn’t have a clue who the culprits are. Her best friend Callie has recently met the love of her life and is happily couple-upped. Mitch has a habit of dropping by her friend’s farm around dinner time and Callie’s partner isn’t always happy about that. Mitch has decided that she wants to get coupled up herself.

Dr. Kay Gallant is a Veterinary Surgeon doing a fellowship at the local clinic before heading for the greener pastures of the US. She’s had to overcome a lot in her life and is closing in on her dream. Nothing or no one is going to get in the way of her finishing her fellowship and moving on with her life. She isn’t opposed to having a good time and bedmates aren’t that hard for her to find. It is too bad the sexy RCMP officer wants to get to know her better and go on dates before hopping into bed. Kay is in no position to offer anyone a future with her, but she slowly reveals herself to Mitch. She can’t possibly stay in a small Canadian town. Right?

When drugs go missing from the vet clinic, Mitch must consider Kay a suspect—every clue seems to lead back to her. Mitch is honorable and has sworn to uphold the law. Her tenuous relationship with Kay will not keep her from doing the right thing. Right?

I enjoyed this book and I look forward to reading the first two in the series and I hope there is a fourth installment coming.

Veterinary Surgeon by Nancy Wheelton is a slow-burn, small town romance set in the rural prairies of Saskatchewan, Canada. This is the third book the author has written set in Canada with veterinarians playing a large role in the stories. In fact, some of the important secondary characters in this tale can be found in the earlier books. However, this book can easily be read as a standalone so don’t worry if you haven’t read the earlier stories yet.

I have to say I found the descriptions of the setting to be one of the best parts of this novel. The author caught the small town/rural feel of the Canadian prairie perfectly. While I don’t live in the prairie lands, I do live in a similarly rural area of Northern Ontario, so I can say with certainty that her descriptions are spot on with the places and the people who inhabit the area.

The romance between the two main characters (RCMP Corporal Suzanne “Mitch” Mitchell and veterinary surgeon Kay Gallant) was slow and sweet. I had trouble connecting with Kay, though I eventually came to like her character later in the book. The first half of the novel was a bit slow as well, but the pace definitely picked up in the second half.

Overall, I did enjoy this book, and I’m looking forward to more from this author. I’m giving this story a 3.5 star rating and moving it to 4 stars for the great setting and the beautiful love story.

This is the third book in Wheelton’s Thresherton series and her third published overal (as far as I know). I've read the two other books and while I was interested in Mitch’s story, this book just didn't work for me and doesn't give the same vibes as the other two books.

In the previous books, I remembered getting a real sense of the town they all live in and an opportunity to connect with the characters. In this book there isn't any of that. I would sooner believe this to be a first book than a third. This story should revolve around Mitch and Kay and if we must believe the blurb drugs that go missing from the clinic. Yes, this book is about the two ladies, but I feel it's about as much about them as it is Callie and Lauren who we know from Veterinary Partner. And the drug storyline - it doesn't deserve a mention in the blurb, Wheelton writes enjoyable stories, but blurb writing isn't her forte. In this book I never felt the connection between Mitch and Kay. Mitch “wears” weary Kay down and they live happily ever after is what is mostly told to us as readers, I need to feel it as well to make it more enjoyable for me to read. I don't this these two fit together and the storytelling didn't help me believe it.

In the other books I had some issues with the lack of communication between the two characters, I think it's better in this book, but it's lacking in believability. Another improvement is the dark moment that comes a bit sooner, I don't appreciate how these intelligent individuals handle the situation, seems way out of proportion. I was hoping to enjoy this book as much as I did Veterinary Partner and Veterinary Technician, sadly for me this one falls short.

This story takes place in Canada. Kay is a conflicted woman. She served in Afghanistan for the Canadian Army and was wounded in action. Returning home, she studied to be a veterinary surgeon and worked part time at a Veterinary clinic while studying at a nearby University.
Mitch is a RCMP officier and is a very committed woman to her job but is missing something in here life.
This book is a different kind of love story because the main characters are so different. Kay does not want commitment only one night stands while Mitch is the opposite.
The plot revolves around their friendship and how each woman changes her point of view on friendship and commitment. The emotion is very good and the plot which includes past failures and fear of being found out.
I recommend this book for romance loves with plot that is very engaging,
I received this book from Netgalley as an ARC but my opinions and thoughts are my own.

Really enjoy this series, the portrayal of small town Canadian life is charming, especially as its full of lesbians who are all intertwined. This book focuses on Kay the new surgeon who has arrived in town just as dangerous drugs begin to go missing from the practice. RCMP officer Mitch is drawn to Kay but begins to have suspicions when she finds out about her past. Callie, Lauren, Val and Ronnie, regulars from the previous books also feature, plus an adorable Dalmatian called Cody. Wonderfully written page turner.

With thanks to Net galley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Veterinary Surgeon is set in Thresherton a remote town near Saskatoon in Canada. The story features Kay Gallant, a veterinary surgeon who is completing her residency and works at PVS clinic. Kay thrives on adventure, eschews commitment, and enjoys one night stands. Suzanne (Mitch) Mitchell is loyal, committed, enjoys helping others, and wants to find love. She is also a Royal Canadian Police Officer.

Ketamine, a medication used primarily when starting and maintaining anesthesia begins to go missing from PVS clinic. Mitch is called in to investigate the issue.

The book flowed well, kept me interested in the main and secondary characters, and progressed Kay and Mitch’s relationship in a realistic timeframe. I was initially concerned that might not be the case, but it fortunately turned out well. I also loved the hero aspect to Mitch’s character. 4 stars

Thresherton Saskatchewan is the setting for this slow burn romance between Mitch, a Canadian Mounted Police officer and Kay, a veterinary surgeon. Kay has plans and goals with falling in love nowhere near being on the list. Mitch’s big heart has been burned too many times and wants to take her time to look for a serious relationship.
The setting is pure Canadiana at its finest. A small town in the heart of Canada’s prairie province where the wheat chaff blows in the air. I can smell the maple syrup flowing. Oh, my Canadian heart!
As idyllic as the setting sounds real world problems touch the lives of those in Thresherton. Namely drugs and drug addiction. Drugs are disappearing from the vet clinic and Mitch is assigned to get to the bottom of this mystery.
Wheelton writes about what she knows in a convincing manner. She places you into the story from the first paragraph and never loses your attention. A portion of her characters come from two previous novels yet Veterinary Surgeon can easily be read as a stand alone novel. The characters are well constructed, likeable and interesting in their own unique way.
The story is captivating and entertaining. The growing attraction between Mitch and Kay is written extremely well with the tension slowly building. The pacing is perfection.
The group of friends and coworkers have caught my interest and I will certainly read the two previous novels.

Veterinary Surgeon is the third book of a three part series by Nancy Wheelton and can be easily read as a standalone. It tells the story of Kay and “Mitch” - Mitchell and is set against the backdrop of Thresherton a remote town near Saskatoon. Kay is a veteran completing her residency, loves to keep moving and experiencing new adventures and prefers anything but commitment. Mitch is on the opposite end and is looking to settle down with someone who she can truly love.

Most of action revolves around the characters working at a Veterinary clinic. Through the everyday happenings of working at the clinic, the story does a good job walking us through Kay’s journey of discovering that her well laid plans may not be what she is actually looking for. The side characters provide some much needed warmth and humor to the proceedings and the backstory of their relationships are probably part of the prior set of books. It did spike my curiosity to mark those down on my TBR list.

The writing is good. Although at the start it did feel like it was very formulaic (using personality stereotypes) and the pacing a little too slow. Some more “dialoging” rather than “telling” would have been better to establish more of an emotional connection with the reader. It’s really in the third act of the book that the pacing gets better and its because the characters are really speaking to each other rather than the reader being told what they are feeling which makes all the difference in the world. Overall a nice story that is a gentle, slow and easy read.

I received an ARC copy of this book from the Publisher via Netgalley and voluntarily leaving my review.

Kay and Mitch meets through mutual friends Kay is looking to have a good time because she not staying once she finished her residency she leaving for the USA, Mitch on the other hand want more then just a fling. Mitch settle for friendship with Kay but they decides to give in despite their views.

I like seeing the previous characters from the other books although this is suppose to be mystery romance because Mitch is also investigating drugs being stolen and Kay being a suspect it took a back seat because it was more about Kay and Mitch relationship then anything else but I enjoy the read.

After opening this I realized this is the third book in a series and I did read the second one, Veterinary Technician, a couple of months ago. So ofcourse there are repeat appearances since it's all playing out in the same community and after thinking about it this is what sums the book up perfectly: I didn't remember the storyline from the previous book.
What I mean with that is that it's nice enough to read, but nothing spectacular, it doesn'st stay in your mind and you even forget about the main characters. I went back to see how I rated the second book and even though I think I liked Mitch and Kay a little more as persons and a couple I have exactly the same issues with this book. There's a lot of saying they don't want to start anything, yet then there are pages filled with them going around in the same circles in their mind and ofcourse still seeing eachother. The serious subjects are handled rather superficially and the whole drug missing was a very little part of the plot, only used for the obligated 80% mark break up period I believe.. It was a nice, light read, but nothing sticking out and I'll probably forget about these characters in the next couple of days. Which is fine for a romance, but I personally like to feel a bit more connected to the characters.
