This is the third in Wheelton's Veterinary series that takes place in the small town of Thresherton, Saskatchewan. Veterinarian Kay Gallant is finishing an orthopedics residency at University and works part time for the Vet clinic in Thresherton about an hour away. She's made friends there but is counting down to finishing her residency and moving on to practice in the USA. Through friends she meets Suzanne (Mitch) Mitchell, an officer in the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Kay would be up for a good time but Mitch wants a relationship even if it limits them to friendship. As a side note there is a mystery of drugs missing from the clinic which eventually Mitch will have to investigate.

Drugs and drug use must be a big issue in this part of Canada. Previous drug use is a major plot point in this book as well as in the second book in the series (Veterinary Tech). I liked the MC's taking things slow and getting to know each other. It is easy to progress the sexual tension from kisses to wanting more. It was good to see the interaction and progression of the MC's from the other two romances as well. (I wasn't sure if Val and Ronnie would still be together they were such opposites.) Overall I enjoyed the story and the characters. I didn't think this was as steamy as the previous book but there is heat. On a personal note every time I read a book that takes place in Canada I realize how ignorant I am of my neighbors to the north. I'm learning things like their police procedures, drug laws and abbreviations for police and government agencies. Thank you to NetGalley and Bold Strokes Books for an ARC ebook in exchange for an honest review.

From the synopsis thought this was going to be more about investigating the drug discrepancy but this was only a small part of the book and very near the end. On saying that I did enjoy the story overall, just it was more romance than mystery.
