Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for letting me access an advance copy of this book in exchange for my feedback.

I was not able to download or open this book on the netgalley app or Adobe digital editions, so all I can say is that the cover is cute and I'm sure it will draw interest in the book. I'm giving 3 stars just for the cover.

I am in love with this book. I already made one of the characters, Hello Kitty of course, and she is adorable! I ordered this book for my library, but I think there is also value in purchasing copies for personal libraries as well. Completing my character was an opportunity to learn several new craft skills. I am excited to make another one and hone my skills. The book also includes several features including a timeline of Hello Kitty history and character descriptions.

100% recommended. This book is on order for our YA Collection and I plan on using it in programming so Teens can learn to make their own Sanrio characters.

If you thought pompoms are only single-color round items, you'll be in for a surprise with this book. Using the basic method for making pompoms, 35 different, tiny, and adorable characters are made. You'll learn how to make each character come alive with pompoms split into more than one color and embellishments made from felt.

Each character is pictured in the first section of the book. Following this is some general instructions. Avery detailed step-by-step tutorial to make Hello Kitty follows this. The other projects in the book are made following these steps. Following this are the one-page patterns and instructions for each of the othr 34 characters. These pages include patterns for felt areas, lists of tools and materials, measurements, wrapping plans, and pictures of all four sides.

It's one of the most complete Japanese instruction books I've seen.

Pros:
This has some really cute, relatively simple projects you can make with pompoms.
Good process and finished product pictures.
The projects actually look like the characters they're supposed to represent.

Cons:
I don't love the layout. It seems strange to have pictures of the projects in the front and then have the instructions on a totally different page in the back.

Overall, recommended for someone who wants to make cute sanrio things with a fairly low barrier to entry in terms of skill. Very good for people with less experience crafting and kids (possibly with some modifications to the smaller parts of the projects)
