An epic end to one of the best series of books I've read in a long time (children's or otherwise)

Frostheart 3 packs so much in a small space, it manages to conclude the story begun in Fira, with Ash an outcast and lonely Song Weaver. We now see Ash trying to save the world, and uniting his found family, as well as the various peoples who inhabit the world around the Snow Sea. Whats great about Ash is that he becomes a hero through his intentions, his wanting to do the best for his friends, rather than because of luck, being a chosen one, or by being a model character, Ash is flawed, stubborn, he sometimes doesn't listen to the right people, he makes mistakes, but he keeps trying to do the right thing, and he learns from his experiences and the people around him, and grows in understanding and compassion; there are times you don't agree with his choices,or those of other characters, but you always get where they are coming from.

Frostheart 3 is the climax of Ash's quest to find his parents, and the final battle to stop Shaard and the wraiths from releasing The Devourer and stopping the Devourer from destroying the world, the story doesn't just tie up the threads of the previous two books though, we are deftly introduced to new characters, visit new lands, meet new monsters, and have the side characters (who never really feel like side characters) complete their own various journeys.

The illustrations are amazing, the plot epic, the world vast, imaginative, and vivid, and the characters utterly believable, understandable, and their stories engaging. The writing is funny, clever, and emotional at times, I laughed out loud in places, and found myself welling up at others, and the book never patronises its readers, making it an enjoyable read for all ages.

Thank you so much to Netgalley and the publishers for allowing me to read an e-ARC of this final instalment. I have nothing but praise for Frostheart 3 and this whole series.

It was a pleasure to read this book and to be approved to read on net galley again to read this book.

I can say that every word I felt in my soul, and I can say I cried on more than one occasion.
The tension made me feel like I was going to lose my breath and the characters I sometimes wanted to scream at. Ash has developed so much since the first page of Frostheart and now he comes into his own.

This world Jamie has created is one I know I am going to return to and still find new things and the ending was perfection. I cannot wait to read more from Jamie but know that if he ever wants to dip back into the Frostheart world I will be one of the people who will shout it from the rooftops. I also know that this will be the book that I will be recommending as the last book that made me sob after a particular scene [if you know you know]. I cannot wait to get my hands on the physical version of this book so I can read it again and again. I adored this book from page one until the last page of book three.

I cannot say how much I felt with this, maybe because we are all like Ash in someway and I was there cheering him on. This conclusion is stunning and be ready with the tissues that is all I will say.

Frostheart: Rise of the World Eater is the concluding book in the Frostheart series. This is a very well written book that has beautiful illustrations that are almost manga in their style and imagery.

The characters are quirky and well developed and you see through this book how Ash has developed as a song weaver, and in wanting to help defeat the ancient Leviathan called the Devourer. There are lots of interesting characters to meet along the way, including Yetis which I always find particularly spectacular.

There is definitely lots of adventure and sea faring and cross country journeys, and while this story can seem a bit complex in places, for fluent middle grade readers this is a good book for adventure and thrill seekers.
The illustrations add a lot of meaning to the story and I would love to see how they turn out in the print edition.

I have been absolutely adoring the Frostheart series, so imagine my joy when I saw it on Netgalley… and then I actually got it!!! My TBR was instantly moved aside because I just had to read this book right away, and it did not disappoint.

Although this series is technically middle grade, especially this book doesn’t read as such. It definitely has the epicness of an adult novel, and the fights and difficult situations the characters find themselves in wouldn’t be some I would associate with children’s fiction either. Not that they wouldn’t be able to handle it. I think the fact that nothing has been dumbed down or simplified makes them enjoy it even more.

But there is so much more that is great about this book (and series). The atmosphere of the icy cold setting is created wonderfully, making you just Want to snuggle up in a warm blanket with some hot chocolate. The characters of the Frostheart’s crew are all unique and quirky and just a wonderful family you Want to be a part of. The magic system surrounding song is just so imaginative. The plot is epic and complex. The illustrations are gorgeous and making the whole reading experience just complete.

And this book specifically? It focusses heavly around (found) family, having flaws and being open to learn from your mistakes. I absolutely loved our travels through the land of the Yeti’s, and finally learning about Tobu’s past. I have always had a massive weak for this character, and seeing how his story gets resolved was definitely a favourite part of this book for me. I really appreciate how this story highlights racisim. And I very much appreciate the stuborness of certain characters… as frustrating as they are. The trauma they have suffered made them convinced of a certain idea, and they are Not easily swayed to another point of view. Again, not something I am used to seeing in middle grade, but it felt very realistic.

I don’t know what else to say about this book, apart from to just gush about it’s brilliance. Please just read it…

Thank you to NetGalley and publishers for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

How am I meant to review my family? After getting onboard the Frostheart and joining the crew, these characters have honestly become like family. I adore each unique personality and the support and love that is shown throughout. Jamie manages to perfectly encapsulate messages that children, teens and adults alike need to hear and supports them with delightful illustrations. I set out on this last journey with my family knowing I was going to need some tissues and oh boy.

Jamie takes an honest look at what it means to be family, to have hope and to fight against hate time and time again and the strength that it requires. Ash is an adorable lad who has grown so much and faced so many challenges, but with true friends supporting him all the while. One of my favourite things about this series has been the humour and there were many instances where I was chuckling to full blown witch-cackling. My heart hurts knowing that there will not be more, but I’m satisfied with how Ash’s story came to a close.

Ever since leaving the Fira stronghold and joining the pathfinder crew of the Frostheart, Ash has been searching for his parents. The voyage has led him all across the Snow Sea to finally find his mother, a fierce leader intent on ending the leviathan threat, and untrusting of song weavers like Ash. When an ancient leviathan known as the Devourer rises human-kin vows to stop at nothing to protect the strongholds, pursuing war against all leviathans. Ash knows the leviathans are helpless against the Devourers hateful song and share the same goal as the humans but can he convince his mother to listen? Legend has it there is a way to stop the Devourer but the road is dangerous and will require everyone to stand together to save the world.

Rise of the World Eater is an intense and hopeful end to the Frostheart series. Filled with danger, high stakes, and a plea to shed hatred it was an emotionally satisfying read. Ash is a wonderful hero and it's great to not only see him come into his own but stand up and ask for compassion and an open mind to those seen as "others". This installment gave insight and depth to many characters that highlighted the importance of gaining perspective as well as the measure of growth. Journeying to the Yeti lands was a thrill as was Ash finding his true family. As with any conclusion to a series, my feelings are mixed on the ending itself. The epilogue left me wishing a few other ideas had been realized or we'd see another tale to see them through. It's been an amazing voyage on the Frostheart with Ash and the whole crew. While I'm sad to see it end I can't wait to see what Jamie Littler does next.

If you enjoyed the earlier two novels in this series you'll love Rise of the World Eater. It's definitely a series I would recommend to read in order as each title starts right where the previous finished. With gorgeous illustrations throughout and an engaging plot that tackles prejudice brilliantly you're sure to enjoy the adventure.

Thank you to NetGalley for a digital copy to review.

What a perfect ending to this series, as much as I wished for more because I didn't want to leave the world, it was a logical ending place and worked really well with the narrative.

Thankyou to netgalley and the publisher for allowing me an e-arc of this book. As soon as i finished Frostheart 2 i needed this book and i had to wait like everyone else but i was so happy to be allowed early access to it. The plot is fast paced, i love the characters and the story just gets better and better. This is a series where once you've gotten into it you could binge all 3 books one after the other. Ash is a character that you want to know more about, you want to know where he came from, will he ever find his family and so on. All my questions were answered in this third and final book and i have to say it was perfect,

I will definitely read anything that Jamie Littler brings out in the future.

My word, it’s been an honour to be part of this crew and go on adventures with them. From the first page, you’re back with the characters you love in their incredible world. You meet some new faces along the way who add so much to the story and learn about some old faces too. This book sings of hope, of fighting together and the power of love over hate. I adore Tobu with all that I am. This was a rollercoaster of emotions and Jamie is an absolute wizard.

I have really enjoyed the Frost heart series so far so I was thrilled to receive this ARC from Netgalley and the publisher.
This is the third and final installment of the series with Ash and the crew of the Frost heart trying to defeat Shaard and the devourer. There are a number of adventures on the way, I particularly enjoyed the visit to the Yeti lands.
This was a hugely exciting and emotional adventure, it was great being back with favourite characters.
A great book.
