I will admit I requested to read this novel based on the cover and title. I proceeded to read it out loud to my husband and my own Great Boar: Ody. It was adorable. I love the water color illustrations. This one is like a picture book mixed with a graphic novel.

It takes the reader through the seasons on an adventure for friendship, food and warmth. It answers the age old question why does the boar and the fox cross the road.

I found the relationship between the great boar and the tiny fox charming and endearing..

Recommend this to all littles who love animals and nature.

Cute book, but not something I would buy for my child or classroom. Thank you for the opportunity to read and review.

A heartwarming tale about friendship and bravery. Fox is more than happy in his own. One day a boar appears and he has to learn to share his space and food. At first, this is difficult, but he adapts. He seeks some alone time, only to find boar has gone and the alone time stretches too long. Both friends seek each other out. There are disagreements, but they both discover that being together is so much better than being apart. It is such a lovely tale about learning to share and compromise. When the pair are torn about what direction to go in, a wise owl helps them see a neutral solution. The pair go on a great adventure. When fox lacks courage, boar supports him and is so thankful, realising all the beauty he would have missed in the world if he hadn't have had the courage to continue on with his friend. Absolutely beautiful. We all need a great friendship like fox and boar that sees us less lonely, that supports us and encourages us, that accompanies us on adventures and opens our eyes to the world. Fox was content before to just be, but the world has blossomed into so much more with a friend. This warming tale is accompanied by the most beautiful watercolour illustrations. Exquisite to pour over. #thefoxandgreatboarbookone #berenikakolomycka #Netgalley

A nice book about friendships and how our friends can have a positive impact and encourage growth through kindness and support.

The illustrations are inviting and I wanted to love this book because I can’t resist books with animals and unlikely friendships but it felt under developed. The text didn’t feel natural. I was confused by the way the text was display as well-almost graphic novel esque but it wasn’t consistent throughout. I’m not so sure I’d recommend this but we would more than likely purchase it.

I received an electronic ARC from Oni Press through NetGalley.
Kolomycka brings readers in to meet Tiny Fox and Great Boar as they figure out friendship, sharing, supporting each other and being brave. Tiny Fox is content on his own with his apple tree until Great Boar comes. Though frustrated to share at first, Fox learns about the joy of friendship too. They brave leaving the tree when food gets scarce in the winter. Boar encourages Fox to be brave and adventurous. Together, they are rewarded with a lovely new place to be.
This could be classed as a graphic novel for younger readers though I've marked it as a picture book. The message may need to be discussed in a family read aloud but readers will appreciate the two characters and their actions.

This was a really sweet book! I like this format of multiple short stories. Each story is a bit different but all show the friendship between the two characters. They have a really sweet friendship and it makes you smile. This could be a good book to read in a story time, because it is simple and sweet (I'm sorry to keep saying "sweet" but that's just what it is! Simple and cozy and sweet!). The illustrations are beautiful with paintings that aren't crisp or precise, but it don't come across as messy, and the colors are wonderful. I do wish there were more unique details about the characters, or a bit more substance to the little plots, though there are other books featuring these characters so it might be better when read with the others. *eARC from NetGalley for the March 2022 Oni Press Publication.

Tiny Fox enjoys his solitude until Great Boar comes to sit under his apple tree. Fox is irritated at first and he wanders off for some alone time. He soon realizes that facing winter (and life) is so much better with a friend. The artwork is lovely and childlike. Tiny Fox and Great Boar Book One is a peaceful tale of exploring the world and listening to others.

Tiny Fox is content living under his apple tree, and when Great Boar arrives, it takes some time for him to get used to sharing. But soon they're pals, and Tiny Fox discovers just how much he's come to rely on Great Boar, not only for companionship, but for strength and courage.

A sweet story with beautiful illustrations by the author.

Tiny Fox and Great Boar is a beautifully illustrated children's book about friendship, trust, working together and taking chances.

The illustrations are fun and colorful. The story is simple, but contains important, positive and wonderful lessons.

The illustrations are sweet and add a special touch to the book.
Split into four separate stories that fit into one, the overarching theme of Tiny Fox and the Big Boar is friendship and that being together is better. It was sweet enough if a bit heavy-handed with its message, but the characters lacked personalities. Nothing much stood out about them. (On this point, it was hard not to compare to Sergio Ruzzier’s Fox & Chick books, which are set up similarly and feature very memorable characters with quirky personalities you can see parts of yourself in).

Thank you Netgalley and the publishers Oni Press for providing me with the digital arc of this wonderful book. I thoroughly enjoyed it. The story, the illustrations, the colour palette everything was just gorgeous and so vibrant. Can't wait for the next book in this series.

This is a lovely book about friendship! Tiny Fox lives alone under the apple tree and is OK with that. Then one day, Great Boar appears. Tiny Fox isn't sure about sharing his space - or apples - but when Great Boar disappears one day, Tiny Fox misses his friend. (Not to worry - Great Boar comes back!) Great Boar is a bit more adventurous than Tiny Fox but they manage to go from Here to There - Together. Because together is better.
There are some important ideas that can be discussed in this book. Boar is big; Fox is little. Boar could be a bully - but he isn't. Fox could choose to not share his apples - but he shares. Boar doesn't have to climb the tree to get the scarf for Fox - but he does. Fox doesn't have to trust Boar on their adventure - but he does. And neither has to listen to Owl's advice. They could continue to argue or let their difference of opinion separate them. But they don't. They choose to listen to Owl's perspective and follow wise advice. Parents, teachers, and/or caregivers could discuss the many choices presented to Tiny Fox and Great Boar. What might have happened if they had chosen differently?
I am looking forward to reading more Tiny Fox and Great Boar adventures. I think this would be a great book to hand to kids and parents wanting an introduction to graphic novels. It is similar to Narwhal and Jelly but a bit calmer. If you enjoy the Owly series by Andy Runton or the Beneath the Trees series by Dav, then this series will be perfect for you!
I thought the illustrations were lovely - I liked the panel of Little Fox with a broken heart above his head when he thinks Great Boar has gone away.
Thank you to Net Galley and @Oni Press for a digital ARC!
