Such a sweet holiday read! It had a lot more depth and a lot less cheesiness than I would’ve expected! I found myself hooked and unable to put it down, which is rare for me. I did find the MC unlikable but still wanted to see things turn out well for her.

Poppy is one of those characters that makes you want to 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ but the more you learn about her everything makes more sense. Poppy has had a hard life you slowly learn about, and it’s really messed with her self worth and confidence. Slowly thanks to lots of great secondary characters she very slowly learns a lot about herself and what she wants. I thought the 12 days was an interesting twist, and I loved that it used that as a count down with the chapter names. Overall this is my first read by this author and even though it took me a few extra chapters to get into it, I grew to really love poppy and had to see what would happen in the end. This is not really a huge romance book though, it’s there, but I would think it’s more women’s fiction. I think it’s under the label for both, but WF deals with the bigger issues in the book. So just know that going in if you are looking for a romance central book!

This was a nice, light hearted Christmas read.

I wasn't a big fan of George, he was completely awful. But I assume that was intentional on behalf of the author so total win there.

I did also love Poppy's character development as the story progressed.

I do wonder why so many authors want to come up with nicknames for their characters? This always bothers me😂 In this case it was "Popstar", why 😭

Aside from Poppy & George's friends and of course George himself, the other characters were fab I really enjoyed reading about them.

More of a 3.5 if I'm being honest, but rounding up for good fun. I think this is a really good holiday read, but I went into it thinking it would be more of a holiday rom-com and it's definitely not. There are some cheerful, cute, and funny moments, but the story has so much more depth and discusses some pretty intense topics as well. That expectation definitely falls on me though because the synopsis even says that the story is "bittersweet" and more about finding yourself through the tougher holiday season. So, that's all on me. Despite all that, and not taking it into account since it's my own fault for not thoroughly reading the synopsis, it's still only about a 3.5 for me. I liked the concept a lot and appreciate the different take on a Christmas romance, but it was SO predictable and repetitive. We were told the same information about our main character 5-6 times, maybe even more! It just got old and I wish, either, there was more to the story or it was cut maybe 50 pages. Overall, I did really like the idea and the story was still very good and super Christmasy, but this isn't as feel-good as I wanted it to be and it is super repetitive. Still recommend this one though as a nice holiday read.

Poppy was such a fun, easy to love character. You really feel for her and she's easy to relate to.
I love that, aswell as being a fun festive read, it also focused on some deeper topics, and finding love with yourself, not just another person.

This is a very cute Christmas book definitely will get you in the holiday mood if you're looking for a little pick me up I would recommend this one

This was a nice wholesome Christmas-sy story that I quite enjoyed,

I found the main character a little hard to like sometimes, as the premise is that she is trying to look as if she's better than what her boyfriend perceives her to be, so that he takes her back just before Christmas. Some of this feels very fake and uncomfortable, as I don't like watching characters try to change themselves for the wrong reasons.

I liked the setting and the secondary characters in the story, as it made it feel like a cosy, small town where Christmas can be magical with everyone working together.

I would recommend this book to people looking for a light hearted, festive read.

I really enjoyed this book, with a few minor exceptions.
Poppy is so excited to spend another Christmas season with the love of her life, her boyfriend George. Only… George hasn’t been happy and breaks it off with Poppy exactly one month until Christmas. Poppy is devastated but decides she will muster her courage and do what it takes to make George see that they really are meant together. Using the twelve assorted days they have left “together” on the days George isn’t working and is still sharing their apartment, Poppy hatches a plan that involves volunteering, singing and generally making George see she is still the girl he loved.
A cute premise, but I was really annoyed with Poppy for being a doormat, for putting up with sketchy behaviour and hanging around like a little dog for attention from George. I was also really disappointed in other events that made Poppy seem flaky and insincere. I absolutely loved the assorted cast of characters, however, and the Christmassy setting! Overall a fun and enjoyable read.

Poppy's looking forward to another festive season with her boyfriend George when out of the blue he announces he wants to break up. Not ready to give up on them, she embarks on a twelve day quest to convince George to change his mind. Along the way though Poppy finds a purpose and a family she didn't realize she was looking for. George is Poppy’s whole life, so when he dumps her just before Christmas, she is understandably devastated. She misguidedly decides to change who she is to prove to George that she can indeed be the girl of his dreams.

Anyone who has been dumped from a one-sided relationship will certainly relate to Poppy. We’ve all been there, convinced we can win their affections back despite the relationship being long-dead. Right?

For me, though, I went through all that in college and high school. I (like to think that I) am past that point in my life of changing myself for men, or trying to force a relationship that isn’t working. Poppy didn’t quite seem to act her age.

Poppy’s enthusiasm was no doubt infectious, and I loved how the chapters of the book were themed around the “Twelve Days of Christmas” song. So too were the ways Poppy tried to win back George’s affection.

Theo and his sister were the best characters. Theo was an adorable grump, and his sister refused to let the hardships of life get her down.

I really enjoyed the character growth from Poppy throughout the story. Although predictable, she learns to love herself and accept her past as being in the past. I’m glad she was finally able to see George and Theo for who they really were!

This is a lighter Christmas read than Always, in December, but still covered some heavier topics. I really wanted to love Poppy, but there are so many times in the book that I wanted to shake Poppy and be like WTF is wrong with you?!?! RED FLAG!!! She is sweet but also seems very selfish and immature at times. I hated George and the whole group of friends they had together, as I think you are supposed to. I wish we could have gotten to know Theo, Marie, Aran and Avery a little more in the book. They were great characters that deserved more development and time with.

Bottom Line: This one was cute enough with the Christmas theme, but I think I would only really enjoy it this time of year. The story itself was a little lacking for me with Poppy’s personality.

Twelve days to save Christmas tells the story of Poppy who is dumped a month before Christmas by her long time boyfriend George. The novel follows poppy as she plots to get her boyfriend back and get things back on track before their holiday getaway. During her journey however she discovers what is important to her and where her passion truly lies. I enjoyed reading Poppy's journey through self discovery and appreciated that she found herself without falling back into her relationship. In terms of the romance with her new potential suitor I did not feel the chemistry was all there. I felt that if a romance was going to be added it should have been a bigger part. However at the same time I understand why the decision was made to not make the love interest the whole focus because its important that poppy find herself without focusing on the romance or else she would fall back into the same patterns as her previous relationship. Overall really enjoyed the story and look forward to reading more by the author.

This is a cute Christmas read with serious themes underneath the romance. Poppy’s boyfriend George breaks up with her just before Christmas, and she figures she’s got 12 stars to win him back. Poppy lost her job and has been trying to freelance, so when George breaks up with her she decides to try something different, because he didn’t like the old Poppy.
She goes on a date and makes a friend, starts volunteering at a homeless shelter, and joins a choir, and realizes that the new Poppy might not want the same things as the old one did.
I liked the characters, except George is a self-centered guy who wants her back after she’s not paying attention to him every second. Poppy is a good character, but it frustrated me that she thought her background as a foster child would change the way people thought of her.
Overall it was enjoyable. 3 stars.

Poppy has been dumped but she's not giving up yet. She has 12 days left until her ex moves out of their apartment and 12 days to convince him he's made a mistake and they should be together. He thinks she's too needy and dependent on him so she strikes out to have a life of her own and starts volunteering at a community centre.

I have to admit I have super mixed feelings about this book. The first half of it I really struggled to like and relate to the main character and the plot line of trying to convince her ex to take her back was kind of manipulative and sad. Her ex was also really unlikable too and so were all her 'friends'. But then the later part of the book I really enjoyed as she started to be more herself... but I think that's maybe the point.... we needed her to be herself and stop trying to change herself and others for us to truly like her as a character. In addition, as more of her backstory is explained we understand why she felt the need to change herself and depend on others which I enjoyed... but Im not sure this was enough to overcome my grievances with the first part of the book. So yeh... I have mixed feelings ha

So Im giving this book 3.5 stars (I liked it... but parts of it were hard to like).

⁣🎁 Poppy (how cute is this name) is both terribly relatable and equally annoying. Her lack of insight drove me CRAZY throughout the novel. I’ve given this part a lot of thought and I think I ended up enjoying her lack of insight. I’m sure I’m not alone when I say my head and insight have been clouded before by “love.” This is more of a break-up recovery, coming in to self-novel than a romance. The buildup of the romance was really good but left unsatisfied (but again more of the above than romance). Also, felt like her “ah-hah” moments came all at the end with little buildup growth.⁣
