This is an interesting psychological thriller, which I enjoyed listening to. The audiobook narrators both did a great job at portraying the characters of the story.

The story itself is about six university friends, and what happened to one of them after a New Year party. Every year since that time, the five remaining friends meet up to remember their friend. On the 20th Anniversary, they meet again, and there are a lot of secrets, surprises and lies exposed. The book is full of suspense and tension. Highly recommended!

A New Years Eve celebration that ends with one of six friends tragically dead, sets the scene for this novel. More than 20 years later the remaining five friends have continued to gather every New Years Eve to remember, share and process their pasts. But this New Year gathering is different! The multiple viewpoints and good narration kept me invested and the story flowed well all the way to the final twisty reveal.

big skip! I only made it 30% through and had to dnf. it didn't hold my interest at all. it was slow and boring. sorryyyyy

Great audiobook. Listening was better for me in this case as it slowed me down enough to keep track of the various characters and to keep pace with a sometimes quite detailed plot.

What a twisted book. This was a slow burn but one that had me a little baffled through the first half. I was confused as to how this would be a thriller during the first half, until the biggest twist (in my opinion) came plowing into the story. Though part of me had my suspicions, I wasn’t completely sold on my inkling. This was a really fast and easy read, told through multiple points of view. I never felt a connection to any of the characters but it didn’t seem to take away from the story. Overall it was a pretty good book. I was granted the audiobook version of this and I really think Jess Nesling and Paul Panting did a great job portraying all the characters and keeping up with their accents.

Twenty years ago on the brink of the new millennium, six college friends decide to take a trip to ring in the New Year which results in the death of one of them called Dan. Over the next two decades, the remaining five make a pact to reunite, every New Year, to a new destination in Dan's memory. However, with each subsequent chapter (told through the POVs of the five remaining MCs) and passing year we slowly learn that Dan, who is initially portrayed as a great guy, wasn't that good a person and had rubbed a lot of his friends the wrong way before his death. The five friends seem to be hiding secrets of their own and we slowly get the idea that their friendship is not as strong as they claim it to be. Things comes to a head on the twentieth anniversary, with cracks finally showing in their friendship when the reality of the past twenty years comes crashing down on them.

With a running time of under 6 hours, I managed to listen to the audiobook in one sitting. Jess Nesling and Paul Panting did a good job with the narration, the plot was a good one with subtle hints pointing towards the ending and except for Gael (to an extent), I did not warm up to any of the characters.

There was not a character to root for in this book. Unlike the rest of JJ Marsh's stories, this one was drudgery to get through, but I DID push through because of her other books.

I binge listened to this story and found it hard to pause as I was invested in finding out what had happened. I thought I had already reviewed the audiobook but it must not have been submitted so my sincere apologies for the very tardy review! I liked the multiple perspective approach to this story and how there was a fair bit of to-and-fro between the characters. It was an interesting group to be thrown together and seeing how they changed from their student days was fascinating. There were of course parts of the story which may stretch your disbelief but these did not at all affect my enjoyment, indeed they made for a very entertaining story and one which kept me engaged from the start. I would be interested in reading or listening to more of JJ Marsh's work in the future.

I liked this audiobook! It was very similar in a lot of ways to Allie Reynolds Shiver. It kept you guessing on what happened to the friend who disappeared in this book. It changes perspective among the friends and their relationship with Dan. Overall great! Fast audio read listen too!

Strange things bring people together. Like a tragic death.

Over two decades, five friends reunite every other New Year. They celebrate, grieve and heal. Memories grow dusty and the nightmare starts to fade.

Okay, I did think that this premise was pretty thin - and really saw no link that would have these people still coming together after 20 years in real like. That said, however, I really did like the book. The twists and turns were well thought out and well executed, leaving the reader unsure of how the book was going to end.

This is a psychological drama that takes the events of the present and intertwines them with the events of twenty years earlier. I found some of the characters a bit confusing to keep track of, but that's something easily solved for with quick notes. A slow-burn whodunit if you're looking for a snowy thriller.

Odd Numbers, a book about a group of friends that are bound together by the mysterious circumstances of their friend, Dan. The story follows a 'who-dun-it' trail which shows that there is more than just one person in the town that wanted Dan gone. I didn't mind this book however, I did pick the twist up relatively early, which did take away the suspense and fun away for me.

I’ll be very honest… This was supposed to a be a psychological thriller, but to me it turned out to be a mystery, and it dragged a bit too much. I figured out what the twist was quite easily (unfortunately) and the ending didn’t surprise me much, because if it had been me in that situation… I probably would have done the same!

Still a good book, just didn’t have enough edge/thrill for me unfortunately.

Doesn’t mean it won’t be other people’s favorite book!

I really loved this book!! It had so many twists and turns. It kept me on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen next!! This was my first book by this Author, and it won’t be the last!! Quick read!! Highly recommended!! You won’t be disappointed!!

Audio version of this book 📚- Told by the POV of 5 characters , a storyline that spreads over 20 years of reunions. I did find it a little slow in places but the ending had a good twist. The narrators were excellent, the female narrator had to narrate for 3 characters who all had different accents and they were totally believable

Very confusing in characters, couldn't catch up with them!
The story felt twisted and hard to follow but I tried to listen..though there was something interesting but I couldn't put my finger where & what it is.
Couldn't listen to full audio but was halfway through to decided it was too much of a mess and not my cup of tea

Audiobook review: A wonderful narration of an absorbing psychological thriller. It all started with a party at New Year’s eve with an intimate group of friends and something went wrong. One of them died. It’s a great start to a suspense thriller and continues on as every two years the group meet again at New Year’s eve in different locations by different members of the original group. And at each reunion layers of the events and each person are peeled back to reveal something intimate and something very compelling to create the suspicion that it might be this member of the group who is responsible for the death of their friend. The novel draws to an end with a twist and another twist. The first twist was half expected and though maybe not quite as thrilling as it might have been, the second one seemed fitting and tied it all up well. Very enjoyable and the narration with a different narrator for each member of the group was excellent, each narrator creating a distinctive personality along with the voice that enriched the novel’s compelling nature.

Six university friends get together every New Years Eve to celebrate together, reminiscing about old times and catching up on each other’s lives. As language students, a different member of the group chooses a different location each year so that they can all see the world together. However on the turn of the Millenium in snowy Switzerland, one of their number is lost to them all, going missing and potentially meeting his death in a freezing lake. His body is never recovered and the friends have to try to move on and rebuild their lives without him. As the years go on though some begin to suspect that there may have been more to Dan’s disappearance than originally met the eye. When they return to Switzerland for this New Year’s Eve twenty years later, will the truth about what happened finally come out?

I love love loved the fact that we hear from all five of the remaining friends and each takes a different chapter each time. It gave a much better picture of what was really going on and allowed us to learn more about the true nature of each of the characters. The majority of them had something to hide and I enjoyed their secrets being revealed as the story went on. The fact that the main narrator is a journalist really worked well here as she pieced it all together.
What I didn’t love though was that the whole premier the book rests on just didn’t seem that believable to me, Why would five university friends who weren’t they close to begin with continue to meet every year on the anniversary of one of them going missing/potentially dying? Seems a bit morbid to me. Plus the eventual outcome towards the end is odd too - although they all had motives none were strong enough to justify what happened. That said I don’t know how else it could’ve been wrapped up so I guess I’ll take it!
Overall I really enjoyed the different narrators and think it worked really well as an audiobook so I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a good listen.

A group of people who became a friendship group while they were in university. They all have different backgrounds and come from a variety of different countries. However, a tragic accident changes the group dynamics and this book focuses on those changes going forward and the individual impacts on each member of the group.
I enjoyed this book, the writing style was easy to read and the premise of the story had potential. However I did feel that the characters could have been better developed as I found it quite difficult to really become invested with any of them in any depth.
I also found it a little predictable at times, which I felt detracted a little from the better parts of the storyline.
All of that said, in overall terms it was an enjoyable read.
