My apologies for not reviewing this at the time. I cannot remember great detail from the book but I did give it a 4-star rating on Goodreads. I did enjoy reading about the experiences of mothers and their devotion to their children and their decisions and repercussions of vaccinating/not vaccinating. I have 3 children and went through exactly this with my second at the height of the MMR scare - since proven to be wrong of course.

With thanks to Netgalley, the publishers and the author Emily Edwards for giving me the chance to review 'The herd'

The herd is a very good book, that I really enjoyed, which was fast paced and a very thought provoking read. You try to see both sides of the story.

As soon one who has a weak immune system, The herd book hit home on how people's views and choices can affect those that they don't know.

I really loved the concept of this book, how one persons actions can affect others and ultimately who should take responsibility.

The dynamic of the families worked brilliantly and I think I changed my mind half a dozen times as to whose side I was on.

In light of the events of recent years, this book remains relevant, but no less shocking. Although it was released post-Covid, and is not based on the pandemic itself, it is based on the premise of vaccination.
It brings into question many things: friendships, relationships, and above all, what we are willing to admit to those closest to us, and ultimately to ourselves. It's thought-provoking and is a great conversation-starter!

This book is very gripping. This book kept me turning the pages and there was a huge surprise at the end. This book is quite controversial but I enjoyed it

Two neighbours are polar opposites but best friends, until something unthinkable happens and they question everything they believe.

This novel focuses on the contentious and emotive issue of vaccinations, presenting both viewpoints with realistic and believable characters, highlighting just how much we take for granted the protection we receive from a vaccinated community, and what happens when that social contract disintegrates.

This was a very thought provoking look at a highly emotive topic. I found myself sympathising with both women in the circumstances presented in throughout the story.

Ultimately this book was tragic with no right or wrong being forced on the reader which I really respected. The author explored the different reasons why people would choose one way or the other without forcing a point of view on the reader.

This would be an excellent book club discussion book.

Elizabeth and Bryony have been best friends since university even though their personalities are poles apart. They are godparents to each other's daughters and they trust that the safety of their children is both their top priority.

Bryony afraid to be judged tells what is supposed to be a harmless white lie before a children's birthday party. The consequences are more dangerous than she could ever have imagined!!

I loved this book it was very thought provoking with a relevant topic that kept me fully engaged throughout.

Thank you to Netgalley for my copy in exchange for an honest review..

Give this a good 50 pages because if not it may appear to be a completely different book to the one you originally think you are reading it’s brilliant and it’ll have you thinking about it afterwards. But no spoilers! Not what you think and for that 5 stars. that

A great read bringing up a lot of question about what choices we should be allowed to make regarding our children and what our effects out choices can have on others.
This is really well written, even though the subject matter is quite an emotive one (vaccinations for children) it doesnt brush over the hard facts but doesn't push an agender.
Enjoyable, intriguing and a little bit sad.

The Herd took me a while to get into, but I persevered as I was convinced it would be well worth my time to finish.

A few chapters in, the novel by Emily Edwards turns out to be a suspenseful thriller that keeps readers on the edge of their seats from the middle to the end. Set in the high-stakes world of a prestigious women's coworking space, the novel follows Eleanor Walsh as she becomes caught up in a web of secrets and lies surrounding The Herd and its founder, Hester.
Edwards has constructed a complex story, weaving together multiple timelines and perspectives to unravel the truth behind a shocking incident that shakes the foundation of The Herd. With its well-developed characters and fast-paced plot, it keeps you guessing until the very last page. Edwards discusses themes of power, ambition, and the lengths people will go to protect their reputations.

I enjoyed this book and the fact that it challenged the theory of whether to have your child vaccinated or not. It was a gripping read however I was not a fan of the writing style. I just felt like I had no connection with any of the characters and feel that they could have been developed so much better. It is still a thriller book with twists so I would recommend it.

Thanks to Netgalley for giving me this arc to review.

This was one of those novels that failed to initially grab me so but then absolutely hooked me in once I got used to its slightly detached (for me at least) third person style. So pleased I persisted, as the whole concept and format turned out to be outstanding - a really unique read in so many ways. Utterly thought provoking.

My thanks to the Publishers via NetGalley for the opportunity to read this in exchange for an honest review.

This is a great thought provoking read, it will make a great reading group read as I am sure that it will create differing opinions among the readers. It's going to be among my Top 10 reads of this year.

Relating the story of two friends and neighbours Elizabeth and Bryony, who both have young children and face the dilemma of whether to have them vaccinated or not. The story features both sides of the dilemma as they both appear to sit on different sides for various reasons.

As parents you all hope to make the right choices for your children and it's down to you to make an informed decision one way or another regarding vaccinations. Herd immunity is created by the majority of people being vaccinated with vaccines to prevent them catching diseases, etc. The story is very timely as we are in the midst of the COVID issue and vaccines have been developed in order to create herd immunity.
