Pros: As someone who is new to reading poetry, I am thankful to NetGalley for offering the opportunity to read new poetry collections. The cover of this book caught my attention, as did the title. One of my favorite parts of this reading experience was to see the placement of the words of a poem on the page and to think about the spacing/punctuation/italicizing chosen by the poet. I think women in their 20s and 30s will relate to many of the poems in this book. My favorite section was “bloom,” especially the poem “the work is never over.”

Cons: None that I can think of. Poetry is very personal, so each collection might not be for every reader.

Thank you to NetGalley and Elodie Parthenay for the opportunity to read this book.

''you are so full of light, darling that in just a week i bloomed''

For a debut poetry collection, this was a delight. I absolutely loved almost every single poem on this book. I was so hooked by the first few pages that the next thing I knew I finished it. If you love poetry about heartbreak, loss and a little of self-love, this is the book you're looking for.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for letting me read this before publication date.

This poetry collection has love, heartbreak and growth all in one and I truly believe that there is something that everyone can relate to in here. While simplistic and very easy to read, it’s wildly relatable and poignant. Definitely one that I will look back on from time to time. Thanks NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC in return of an honest review.

This is a debut poetry set and I can’t tell you just how beautiful the words in this book were. I love poetry. As someone who had to take extra English classes. Poetry were a major significance in my classes and I grew up reading a mixture of poetry from my family and my friends and of course the poetry that has derived from my very own culture. It’s beautiful and uplifting and can change ones mood. The poetry in this book itself is stunning and brings me so much joy that I know it’s something I would keep locked away close to me for the rest of my life. This is definitely a new collection of some of my favourite poetry and will definitely be on the look out for more form this poet in the future. This was an absolute delight. 5 out of 5 stars!
