A lot of fluff and very little substance. This is how I perceived "Eros" by Don Miguel Ruiz and Barbara Emrys.

I have a lot of respect for spirituality as a way of finding one's path in the world, I really do. What I personally cannot stand, is the "holier than thou" attitude. People long for a deeper meaning of their existence, are drawn to rituals and promises of feeling more connected. Some of them, who have not yet found their community, are often attracted to the thinkstyle and the lifestyle that "Eros" promotes, which I would call "commercialised enlightenment".

"Eros" utilises philosophical tales and uses them as starting point to talk about taking the path towards the truth, personal authenticity and embracing unconditional love, seemingly ignoring the fact that everyone's provenience and system people function in, differ dramatically.

I fully acknowledge I am not a target audience of this book, which undoubtedly informed my experience of reading "Eros" and resulted in giving it a two star rating.
