This was fun puzzle collection that tested my brain. There were so many of the puzzles that made total sense once I knew the answer and made me go 'Aaah...' This is an easy way to while away a few afternoons.

Challenging puzzles that make the grey matter work hard to reach the answers. Spent many an enjoyable evening working my way through these and loved the challenge.

Useful to have the answers detailed at the end of the book as well, so I could see where I went either spectacularly wrong on my solution, or to my delight, got the answer correct.

Perfectly perplexing and way out of my scope of knowledge!

These puzzles are all beautifully (and devilishly) crafted, with beautiful finesse and focus. It was fascinating to read the sheer variety of puzzles. I also deeply appreciated the long-form answers that were given at the end of the book, providing often much needed illumination on the solutions to the teasers.

An overall fun and challenging collection. However, a warning to those like myself who are more mathematically challenged - these are difficult!!

More hard work than puzzling

I love a good puzzle but I just couldn’t get into these. Maybe it’s just that my maths isn’t good enough or maybe they’re just too hard for me.

Not as good as I expected.. Did an OK job of keeping me entertained on election duty, but not as much fun as anticipated.

This book contains a variety of different themed puzzles which were interesting to have a go at but much more challenging than was expected!

As I expected from. The Sunday Times, these definitely aren't your simple afternoon puzzles. A lot of these were quite difficult and required some thinking "outside-the-box". I do think it depends how often you do them and who sets the puzzles - regular readers of The Sunday Times might find them easier if they're used to thinking in that way. Overall, I felt they were interesting, fun and required some effort, so should keep most puzzle-fans busy!

Found all of these too difficult to work out quickly and without a pencil and paper, which tells me that this book is ideal for people who like a bit of a challenge. If you like gifting books like as presents you can add this to your list. Good variety of puzzle styles, and nothing that's going to get solved without a good bit of thought.

We like puzzles in our house but perhaps did not appreciate how difficult these would be. We attempted more than a few but were found lacking in all cases. Perhaps you need a more mathematically trained brain than we have !

This book was a bit too much for my sadly lacking in mathematical skills brain to deal with. Lots of mathematical puzzles and a bit lighter on the logical ones.

Would be great for someone with a love for mathematical problem solving. The questions and answers are written and explained well. Just not for me.

Thanks to Netgalley and Collins for the ARC.

If you love puzzles then this is the book for you! Be warned though - they are quite tricky! But the perfect stretch and challenge activity for pupils to partake in!

Being a mathematics major I enjoyed this book but I fear that it will have limited readers. Both the teasers and the solutions have been well documented.

If you love math then this book is for you. However I am ‘a bear of little brain’ and found these teasers far to difficult. Times crossword or puzzle solvers this book is for you. I’m sure you will enjoy the challenge. I’ll stick with the Sudoku?

A look back at two years' worth of hard puzzles from the pages of The Times newspaper family. Only come here if you care to do the work involved to calculate "how many cards would you have in a redacted deck for bridge to allow one potential combination of cards per second for n number of whole days?" While the answers are given bluntly, as per the newspaper, you also get the full 'show-your-workings' solutions, in a section of the book taking up more space than the questions. This is a volume that was of zero use for me, but is going to do sterling stuff to keep the Lords and Ladies Genius of the land occupied. What it does is a singular, rarefied thing, but it does it most comprehensively. Unless you worked them all out when first printed, that is...

My thanks to NetGalley for a copy of “ The Sunday Times Teaser Book “ for an honest review.

Unfortunately I underestimated how challenging these puzzles would be.
They were more mathematical than I’d expected the lateral questions would be.
The book might be perfect for someone else , but sadly not for me.
