One of my favorites that I've read from Ms Modglin! Her books are always an A+ for me and this was no exception. I knew from page one it was going to be a page turner. 5 stars!

A gripping read, full of tension and secrets. I read it in one evening and really enjoyed it. Looking forward to reading more from the author.

This story is told from the perspective of a mother grappling with the disappearance of her daughter, Skylar, amidst a backdrop of marital discord and suspicious events. The premise is undeniably captivating, and the author introduces elements of doubt and uncertainty effectively. The psychological aspects of the protagonist's struggles add a layer of complexity to the narrative, keeping readers engaged in the unfolding mystery.

However, the execution of the plot occasionally falters, with some twists feeling forced or predictable. The pacing fluctuates, and certain revelations lack the impact needed to elevate the suspense to a truly gripping level. While the promise of an "unbelievably twisty" thriller is present, the twists may not be as shocking or unforeseen as avid readers of the genre might hope.

Character development is a mixed bag, with the protagonist displaying moments of strength and vulnerability, but other characters may come across as one-dimensional. The interactions between characters, especially within the family dynamic, provide insight into the complexity of relationships but could benefit from deeper exploration.

The writing style is serviceable, conveying the urgency and anxiety of the situation effectively. However, some scenes and dialogues feel overly dramatic, bordering on melodramatic, which may detract from the overall immersion in the story.

Solid thriller that had very well done characters and a good plot. The first few chapters were slower but it greatly picked up speed as it went on.

I have read books by Kiersten in the past, and once again wasn't disappointed. The book grabs you by the throat from the first page, and I couldn't stop reading. Recommended.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for approving me for this book.

I felt the writing was done well in this book but there was just something missing for me and I couldn't get into it and enjoy it as much as I hoped I would.

Great writing and plot. Quick read that kept me engaged the entire time. One I’m upset I put on hold for too long.

This is my 1st book by Kiersten Modglin. I've seen her books ALL over bookstagram, so I was really looking forward to this one!

Things started out strong for me, but then the story changed timelines and I hated everyone.

This is coined as a domestic suspense, but I didn't feel much suspense.

Truth be told, I almost DNF'd this one, as it felt like a chore to finish.

I'm a big mental health advocate, so I appreciated Modglin's focus on mental health, specifically, postpartum depression. However, I found things extremely repetitive and lacking in substance.

I was hoping for a more fast paced mystery, but instead, got more of a family drama.

I do intend to read another book my KM, but not in the near future.

Thank you Netgalley and Bookouture for the gifted copy.

Kiersten Modglin never fails to put me on the edge of my seat with her thrillers. She also always manages to pull out one last shocking twist that will have you reeling and wishing for a follow up book. This was certainly one of those. The characters in this are just written so well and developed nicely throughout the book as we get to know them so it feels natural. I really could not figure out how this was going to play out and how the therapist was involved so I was totally surprised when all of the facts were revealed. Once again Kiersten has written an amazing thriller that will keep me thinking about it for days to come!

The first three Kierstin Modglin books I read were amazing, and she had me hooked. They were her earlier works. Now, as she puts out so many books per year, I feel that they come out rushed and not well thought-out. So many plot holes, so many inconsistencies. Normally, if I am really enjoying a book, I am the first to suspend disbelief, but not this time.

I won't go further into disparage the book other than to say that I felt as if I was reading someone's stream of consciousness. It seems like the author sat down, typed out the book, and off it went to Netgalley. There seems to be little to no editing. The characters were nuts and unlikable. Every single one, even the children if that is possible.

I wouldn't recommend this book, and only gave it two stars because I finished it, and only finished it because it was a Netgalley book. I have read this book in exchange for an honest review. Special thank you to Netgalley and Bookoutre for this ARC.

I would like to thank Kiersten Modglin and the publisher, Bookouture, and NetGalley for providing me with this ARC for an honest review.

KMod does it again! If you love a fast paced story with twists and turns, this book is for you!
I absolutely loved the twists which were believable as well as unexpected.

The only thing I didn't like was that sometimes the characters were contradicting themselves in their inner monologues. It wasn't a contradiction of their thoughts and actions, or their thoughts and words. It was a contradiction among on their thoughts, on say page 1 and then the contradiction on page 3. It tends to break the flow of the story.

This book !!!! I couldnt put it down. The chapters alternate betwen characters. It has short chapters which will have you flying through this book. I loved the ending it was superb.

This book is literally like driving in the car with a blindfold on. It is full throttle from the get go. I read it quickly but I find the author's diction to be a bit pedestrian. If you like a story to keep you on the edge of your seat, this is it!!

Ginny had post partum depression after giving birth to Skylar. Ginny and Cam have had some marital problems that has led to conflicts. Ginny meets Alex in the park and become friends, Alex tell Ginny she is a therapist and can help her. All is not what it appears. It gets worse when Skylar goes missing. This is another Kiersten Modglin novel I could not put down.

When Ginny and Cameron’s three year old daughter Skylar goes missing from her bed one night both parents are out of their mind with worry. But it’s not long before the cracks start to show and they blame not only each other but others around them too. I enjoyed this twisty thriller - it had the missing part in the first couple of chapters at the start and then went back to explain what had happened to both characters prior which really added to the twistyness of this book. I also enjoyed the fact that it told from both characters perspective as I didn’t know who to believe. I thought that the actual missing part was quite short but the ending more than made up for that. This is available on kindle unlimited.

What was it all about
A missing child arc that this book was made my heart pound, as it always did. When Ginny woke up after her daughter Skylar’s birthday, she realized that her daughter was missing. That started the search for her.
Suspicions were raised and doubts cast on the parents when it seemed like an inside job,

How it made me feel
I liked the beginning as there was a thrill in the writing as if the prose dared me to find the truth. Author Kiersten Modglin had that special talent to make me feel the joy of reading an intriguing story, something extra was weaved in.

The Good
A twisted thriller it was, where the author mixed secrets, with family and past mistakes. With multiple POVs, it was fun to try to guess who was trying to hoodwink me.
Post partum depression was well written, maintaining the sensitivity of the topic. The story became more exciting from the midsection where I needed to get to the motive of the whole plan. The twists added made me turn the pages faster.

The Bad
The prose slacked in the intensity of suspense. I would have liked it if the tempo had been maintained to keep me on the edge of my seat.
It was easy to predict the perp, but the whydunit kept me hooked till the end.

The Conclusion
A fun thriller as per the norm by this author.

Modglin does it again a quick paced thriller that will keep you guessing until the end. I was super excited to read this book early and as usual it’s a 5 star read. Skylar goes missing and this story will keep you at the edge of your seat wondering who is the kidnapper!
