Thrilling read, kept me turning pages into the night. Will likely try more books by this author. Well written thriller.

A vampire thriller immersed in gripping intrigue and excitement. It was an okay read, but I thought the shooting part with Shannon and the villain had a few gaps. I like the storyline and the characters, especially Calloway he was impressive.

Jack Calloway, criminal profiler and private investigator is back. Jack has a new case—a trail of emails sent to him by a woman in fear for her life. A woman who is now missing. And a dead reporter who possessed information she desperately wanted Jack to have.

When Seattle Police Detective Ed Halstead reaches out to Jack for a consultation on two dead people with missing organs, Ed’s case collides with Jack’s, and their investigation leads them down a dangerous path.

It’s been five months since Jack last saw forensic investigator Sergeant Carla Briggs, the woman who begged Jack to let her go. No longer pining over the past and surrounded by new friends, Jack’s on solid ground. But this investigation has Jack confronting his feelings for Carla all over again. He let her go knowing she didn’t want to live in a world where vampires exist. Now, she’s carrying a secret. A secret Jack’s not sure he can ignore.

As Jack searches for the person responsible for it all, he and his friends follow a bloody trail through a dark world of greed, power, and human depravity. Following the leads, Jack confronts a larger conspiracy. A conspiracy he didn’t see coming - one he doesn’t have control.
Unstoppable action from the start.

Brief Synopsis: Multiple agencies (working together) with multiple homicides to solve and a missing woman to find. All of the cases appear to be related, but how?

Thoughts: Though this is book 2 of the Jack Calloway Thriller series, I felt it read easily as a standalone novel. Any prior information needed was worked in seamlessly. The writing style is easy to read and linear. The characters felt realistic, even the supernatural ones. In fact, the vampires/werewolves weren’t “over the top”, they felt human. This book had a lot of elements incorporated into it: vampires, werewolves, mobsters, sex-trafficking, organ harvesting, and more. I wouldn’t say there were many twists, but the action scenes felt suspenseful and the drama fit the storyline.

Thank you to Carmen Cady, Cady Publishing, and NetGalley for an advance copy of this book. If you are looking for a thrilling police procedural with a paranormal twist, this one’s for you.

“As she turned her head away from the window, something caught her eye. Her movements froze. Two men, dressed in black wearing balaclavas with guns at their sides, stealthily moved toward Caleb’s house.”

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Book two in the Jack Calloway thriller series - and yes I’m glad I read book one first, however it’s suitable to work as a stand-alone too!

Jack Calloway is a private detective and vampire. He is working a new case that takes a drastic turn and intermingles with several other cases being run by different police departments, from drugs, to people having organs removed post-mortem, Murders, underage intercourse and human trafficking. What else could happen? Oh except his ex-lover (book one will give you this WHOLE story) starting to remember the things he compelled her to forget…!

Oh my gosh what. This book is so much better than the first book. And I need the third one LIKE NOW. I don’t think I can wait. Jack, Carla, Simon, Shannon, Ed and Cash…. These are characters I have connected to on a massive level…! I could stop reading this! Well until my eyes were aching and I physically had to put my iPad down - but o couldn’t put it down for long. It’s a complete page-Turner right from the start.

Please I am begging for a quick addition to this series! Keeping my eyes peeled for a pub date!!

Thank you to Cady Publishing, Carmen Cady and @netgalley for providing me with a copy!

would like to thank netgalley and the publisher for letting me read this book

human trafficking and prostitution led by russian mobsters

jack is leading the hunt into who has overall power but there are so many players involved its difficult to see the wood for the trees

jack is a private investigator and a profiler but hes also a vampire....though theres not many vampire fights its hard to believe he is anything supernatural

theres a lot of tooing and froing with loads of characters that i have to admit i struggled to keep in head, but there were elements that i wanted to know about, and thats what carried me forward with this book

in places its heavy going but its is a hard hitting subject but the ending gives you an idea of what the next book will bring..

I must say I was surprised. First book from this author and I really thought I was reading a normal mystery. Wellllll, not really. There is a generous dose of supernatural in here which was not expected.
I found the story rather complex. Lots of characters involved. Hard to keep everything in one’s head. I suppose reading the other Jack Calloway books might help.
Enjoyable though with one nice twist at the end. Reminded me a certain series I used to watch

I was a little iffy on this book at first but it reeled me in and I loved it. I cannot wait for the next book to come out.

A thriller with a paranormal twist. Jack Calloway, PI consultant and criminal profiler for various police agencies, has a new client who feared for her life and who is now missing. What follows is a tense, action-packed story which pits Jack, the Seattle Police Department and local FBI office against an international crime family and their human trafficking operation. Excellent writing combined with well developed characters make this a can-t-put-it-down book! Can’t wait for the next Jack Calloway thriller. I receive an ARC from NetGalley, and the opinions expressed are my own.

Thanks to NetGalley for a free advanced copy in exchange of an honest review.

I read this book as stand alone without knowing anything about the series and my review is based on that.

I have had mixed feelings about this book and almost stopped right in the beginning after realizing that I must have picked up a wrong book. The description did not mention anything about vampires and thus it took me by surprise. However, I continued on because the writing was well done and I was intrigued with the story plot so I managed to overcome the references to vampires (especially when there are just a few of them!) So a plus to the writer who is able pull readers from other genres. The book was very easy to follow and enjoy the development and unraveling the mystery and the villains behind the crimes. The book also hits a very important topic: the human and sex trafficking that is a serious issue in the current world. Young people and kids disappear from the less developed countries all the time and very little attention is given to it.

But what I could not overcome was the fact that this book is very hard to read on a stand alone basis. There were references to Weres (I still don't understand what they are and what they add to the story) and some past history that were never explained. There are so many characters in and out who were probably introduced in the previous book(s) but on stand alone they were too confusing for the story plot. Thankfully in Kindle I could search by name and go back and forth easily. That would have been much harder in a paper copy.

I did enjoy the writing style and how the story was developed and it would have been even better if the story was more of stand alone with the effort to briefly explain things that were probably explained in the first book. But in general I prefer stories that are more local and closer to the reality and less of the international crime or espionage, so I will check out the first book but the direction that it took in the end of the second was not sufficient for me to be curious about the third, if it gets published.

Overall it is a well done book and despite my critical points I recommend to anyone who loves private investigators, surveillance and crime mysteries, and of course, if you love vampires and supernatural!

It's like the blurb was written for a completely different book. Simply put I didn't like this book. I was expecting something completely different and as much as I tried I could not get into it.

Addictive page-turning suspense - with a complex and oh so interesting cast of characters. Jack Calloway has to be one of the best non-human PIs to come along. The mix of shifters, vampires and humans, keeps things interesting, as they investigate murder, human trafficking, and the Russian Mob - oh with a dash of romance to keep things fun. . Great stand alone, but even better if you read the first one - keep them coming!

This is a great mystery novel! It’s extremely well written. We are introduced to many characters in this novel. My fave was the leading character Jack who is a vampire/PI. Tons of detail about Russians, trafficking, and etc. Something was always happening or changing in this novel that I never got bored and wanted to keep on reading and reading until I finished! The mystery and plot of the book is very engaging and suspenseful. All in all a very well done book. I highly recommend and can’t wait to read more from this author!

An absolutely brilliant read. Great story and characters. I loved Jack he was my favourite. Although this is a series and the first I've read by this author I was able to read it as a standalone. Can't wait for next book. 5*.
