This is the fourth in the series and I would say it’s the best so far. It was full of emotion and hope. The characters are both old and new. I loved this book

I must firstly apologise for the amount of time it has taken me to provide a review of this book, my health was rather bad for quite some time, something that had me in hospital on numerous occasions and simply didnt leave me with the time I once had to do what I love most.

Unfortunately that does mean I have missed the archive date for many of these books, so It would feel unjust throwing any review together without being able to pay attention to each novel properly.

However, I am now back to reading as before and look forward to sharing my honest reviews as always going forward. I thank you f0r the patience and understanding throughout x

Very good. Enjoyed going back to the wonderful cast of characters who feel so real and catching up on what they are up to. Centered around the start of World War Two it shows how they are dealing with it and the cost it will bring to all their lives. Also don't be deceived by the cover it's not a Christmas book.

A pleasure to read as always. Anton Du Beke has made his characters a joy to know. Thank you for the ARC

This has become an annual christmas tradition to read the new Anton book. I love visiting the Buckingham Hotel every December. Long may this series continue.

This was a mammoth read, very long!!! Following the lives of staff and dancers at the Buckingham Hotel during the war, as many of the men are sent to war. It Sa's not really my thing, made worse by just hope long it was, but if you love war time fiction it might be for you...

The third book I’ve read in the series and I’ve adored them all! Anton has such a great way with words. This book and the stories contained herein - I say stories as there are several smaller plots centered around different characters - really do bring the characters more to life than ever. With surprises and shocks along the way as there are certain of them who don't act as you think they might. But then war was a great leveller and did bring out the best in a lot of people. Well worth reading from the beginning of the series.

A great read. This is the third book I've read in this series set around The Buckingham hotel and it does not dissapoint set at the start of world war two Raymond de Guise and many of the staff take a different path as they go off to war leaving their loved ones behind.. Still at the heart of the story life goes on at the Buckingham and as they wait for news of their loved ones they try to carry on .It was like meeting up with old friends again and was beautifully written by Anton and was very emotional at the end.

Anton Du Beke is my favourite on Strictly. I have read his other two books and loved them, he is a great writer as well as a great dancer.

I have now read all of these books- I have thoroughly enjoyed every single one. Each book has focused on a different character and their troubles. This one is very good and I hope there are more books to follow.

Classic, timeless feelgood stuff.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for letting me access an advance copy of this book in exchange for my feedback.

I love these books by Anton Du Beke, having read all of them, and this newest book in the series didn’t disappoint. This book is a bit darker in tone than the earlier novels as it is 1939 and war breaks out, which affects all the characters in the Buckingham hotel we have come to love. I would say this shouldn’t be read as a stand alone novel though - you need to start this series from the beginning to fully appreciate it. I really enjoyed this and I hope this series continues for many more years.

Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and Anton Du Beke for the chance to read this book.

I had read the third in the series but not the first 2 - which is a disadvantage. I also agree with another reviewer that the list of characters is of less use in an ebook.

Sadly book 4 didn't grab me at all and I found it hard to engage with wasn't in the least interested in what happened to the characters.
The story of the start of WW2 is well documented and there are many books retelling of life at these times and sadly this book was not one of the best.

I am unsure that I would rush to read any more books in this series

Thanks again for the chance to read this book

This series has been such a joy to read, this is book 4 in the series and it was lovely to be back in the story with all the characters again. Absolutely perfect!

This story is based on London 1939 and the world is on the brink of war. The staff at the Buckingham hotel must go on as normal and keep the guests happy but behind the scenes they are all scared of what is to come. The Buckingham hotel will never be the same again.
Nancy knows that her husband Raymond will want to go and fight in the war as much as she will miss him she knows she will be supportive.

Such a lovely and yet emotional book highly recommend.

Although I love Anton Du Beke unfortunately this book was not for me. I didn’t realise that this was the 4th in the series and I felt I would probably need to read the other 3 before this. Although there was a detailed list of characters in the front of the book explaining who they were and how they all fit together this doesn’t help when reading on the kindle as it’s not easy to flick back and forth and I felt there were no recaps except the bit at the front..

It's a compelling, well written and entertaining book that I couldn't put down. There's plenty of emotions, there's glamour but also how WWII impacted everyday life.
Small stories, well developed characters, a vivid historical background. The author is a talented storyteller able to keep the attention alive and the emotions are vivid.
Highly recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine

We’ll Meet Again is the fourth book in the Buckingham Hotel series and I have really enjoyed all four books. As this one set at the start of the Second World War, it has a different tone to the first three books, but there are still enough light and glamour moments to show it is still the same series, albeit in times of war.
With the war starting the Buckingham Hotel is a different place, with some of the staff not being present, and some newcomers arriving. The depiction of what it must’ve been like for those working at the hotel and left at home compared to those away at battle is brought out well in the book. The return of the main characters we are used to is great and to see them develop over the years is wonderful. I, as always, look forward to the next book!
Thanks to NetGalley for a Kindle copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

The end of 'A Christmas To Remember' brought the series to the brink of the Second World War so I knew 'We'll Meet Again' was likely to be darker in tone, as that was very much where the series was heading. Writing a love story set during any war is a difficult balancing act between wanting the romance to take centre stage and not belittling the brutal reality of life during war. The added difficulty with the Buckingham series is throwing in the day to day life of the hotel as well. However, for me, the balance in 'We'll Meet Again' is perfect. The cliffhanger opening had me gripped from the start and the plot didn't let me go until the final pages.

When I asked to review this book, given the popularity of the series and the author and the fact that my blog still has a relatively small (but loyal, thank you!) following, I didn't really expect to get it. I also knew the release date was rapidly approaching so I knew I was going to have to read it quickly. What I hadn't anticipated, after reading the first half throughout yesterday, was to be so gripped by it that I finished the last half before breakfast this morning. I didn't want to put it down because I had to know what happened.

Well... we're now at book four in this wonderful series set in and around The Buckingham Hotel in London. If you haven't already read the first three books, you could do yourself a favour and play catch-up prior to diving into this book. It does follow on and I think the characters will come across much better if you do meet them from the start and grow along with them from what has happened in the previous books.
So... we are now approaching the war and find out how that affects both staff and guests at the Buckingham. With young men signing up to fight and aspersions being cast on other members of our wonderfully eclectic cast, there are some that will suffer more than others. As with previous books, this one tugs at your heartstrings and I was torn between wanting & needing to know and not wanting to find out what happens several times along the way. Oh My - all the emotions!
This book and the stories contained herein - I say stories as there are several smaller plots centered around different characters - really do bring the characters more to life than ever. With surprises and shocks along the way as there are certain of them who don't act as you think they might. But then war was a great leveller and did bring out the best in a lot of people. And the worst as you will also find out from some of the shenanigans... Giving us, the readers, the whole spectrum of emotions - the glitz and glamour of the ballroom and the brutal danger of the war. Who will get through and how will it change them. I guess I need to wait for book five to find that out...
As with the first three books, this is well written and also very well researched. Despite the subject matter, it's an easy read, pretty much reads itself off the page. I will, as I have before, indulge myself in a re-listen when I get my hands on the Audiobook. My thanks go to the Publisher and Netgalley for the chance to read this book.
