Love After World Domination Vol. 1 is a hilarious romance story focused on a hero and a villainess who decide to get together. As the two groups are still at each other throats, their forbidden relationship leads to weird situations that are very fun to read.

Imagine a tokusatsu world where a group of heroes fights against villains whose plans revolve around world domination. On one side, there’s the heroic force Gelato 5, whose leader is Red Gelato, otherwise known as Fudo Aikawa. However, he falls in love with the Reaper Princess, Desumi Magahara, who’s part of the Gekko secret organization.

Even though they are on opposite sides, they decide to date each other. However, that means they’ll have to work hard to hide it all behind the façade of enmity. Big battles become chances for them to meet again, with the two trying to get some alone time whenever possible.

Neither of them has experience in the ways of romance, but for different reasons. The volume does a great job at fleshing out their personalities while explaining that. For example, Fudo is a gym rat who never thinks of anything else. On the other hand, Desumi is a cute and feminine girl, but people hardly notice it because of her job as the Reaper.

Love After World Domination Vol. 1 2

The volume then explores many situations and manages to make them all hilarious. Instead of just overusing the gag until the story gets stale, it feels like they’re evolving as a couple. Not falling for this trap so common for comedy stories is hard, but the manga nails the sense of progress.

By the end of the volume, there’s a big cliffhanger that hints things might escalate even further soon. I’m honestly eager to see how things will go. Keeping their relationship secret will be challenging, but there’s also the element of how other people will react to finding out.

There’s also an extra chapter shown from the perspective of Desumi’s cat, Hellko. This omake gives us a better look into how being in love has allowed her owner to find more enjoyment in life. It’s also a great example of how the story has managed to work its magic with the characters.

Love After World Domination Vol. 1 is a whacky manga, a silly parody of hero stories, and somehow a heartfelt romance on top of it all. In barely a single volume, I’m already attached to the couple and wishing the best to them. It’s easy to see how much being in love with each other impacts their lives.

Love After World Domination Vol. 1 4

Besides the exaggerated expressions that are traditional in comedy manga, there are also some battles here and there. It’s interesting to see how the world is very similar to ours as well. There are silly villain lairs and people wearing costumes fighting for evil or justice, but they’re also just people with their daily lives. And an evil bear with powerful cannons.

Love After World Domination Vol. 1 is a manga that manages to be the fun kind of silly. And at the same time, its characters and situations are compelling, always moving forward in significant ways instead of stalling. I’m honestly eager to see how this love story will unfold.

This is what you get when an earnest sentai hero (The red one, even!) and one of the evil organization's top lackeys, decide to go out with one another! It's a surprisingly sweet read, and the couple's attempts to keep their relationship a secret are amusing. If you grew up watching Power Rangers, give this one a try!

This book is so cute and funny. The romance between these to naïve enemies is quite sweet. I'm a little confused as to what reality this is supposed to take place in. (Characters reference real world things like Instagram and Central Park, but they are also enemy combatants wearing quite fantastical armor.) That doesn't take away the enjoyment of reading this book though.

Overall: A forbidden relationship that is both cute and a first love kinda feeling

Short Summary
In this world, there are two forces that are fighting against one another. One is the Gelato 5, a group of heroes who keeps to the justice of the world and the Secret Organization of Gekko, a group of villains that causes chaos to the world. When the leader of Gelato 5, Fudo or known as Red Gelato fell in love with the ace of the Gekko Organization, Desumi, the Feared Reaper Princess, everything changed. Its a love story of two individuals from different sides of justice, with a sort of romeo and juliet vibes and a combination of action and love in one setting.

My Thoughts
I honestly felt that the manga was quite a cute one. It was easy to read, the premise was cute and I like how innocent both Fudo and Desumi's relationship is. They were so easy to read and since its their first time in love, its cute to see them together. Plotwise and romance-wise, I like it.

I also like how the mangaka potrayed Desumi's personality. Though she's this so-called feared villain, she's also a normal girl who wants to be spoiled and loves cute things and thats what makes her a badass. I like Desumi as a character, she's cute, she's sassy and she's also super innocent i wanna hug her.

The biggest downfall of this manga was the excessive fanservice. The fact that the characters are in high school makes it more disturbing. I think I came to a point in my life that I don't really like to see oversexualized girls in mangas especially if they are teens in high school. That was what made me really irked with this manga. In a whole sense, I like the premise of the story, the action scenes and just Desumi and Fudo trying to be with one another, but in another hand, I can't seem to really ignore the overly fanservice in this manga.

Overall
Nonetheless, if u'd want a manga that has a first-love-innocent-awkward-couples, who are also superheroes and has some action scenes, this manga is def for you.

**ARC provided by NetGalley for honest review**

Love After World Domination 1, Art by Takahiro Wakamatsu, Story by Hiroshi Noda, was a cute and funny rom-com shoujo manga about a villainess and superhero who fall in love and try dating. The chapters are pretty short, so this volume just flew by for me. I got some Power Ranger vibes from the hero characters, which cracked me up to no end, and the romance is super sweet. I love it. Looking forward to more and excited for the upcoming anime too!

Love After World Domination is a a hilarious yet adorable spin on the "opposites attract" romantic comedy trope. The character designs are creative, with each character having a distinct look, and the artist made excellent use of the panels for storytelling purposes. We only meet three members of Gelato 5 in Volume 1, which makes me wonder about the two other members that have yet to be introduced. The first volume's ending sets it up nicely with enough of a cliffhanger to make you interested in Volume 2.

Thank you to NetGalley and Kodansha for the providing the e-ARC of this manga in exchange for an honest review.

Firstly, the art style is neat and comfortable to be read. I think it matches really well with the genre and concept of this story.

The storyline for this manga is quite interesting. I love the concept of leader for good organization and leader of evil organization falling in love with each other. It's like forbidden love trope! This manga is great for people who love comedy and romance because it has both of them. The main couple are so cute! They have no clue about dating and both of them are trying so hard to have fun while keeping their relationship a secret. It is understandable, considering they are from different sides and it is not easy to suddenly declare they are in love. I am intrigued to know how this will turn out in next volume, and wonder will they get exposed soon?

Not knowing what to expect when reading "Love After World Domination" Volume 1 art by Takahiro Wakamatsu, and story by Hiroshi Noda was probably a really good idea because it was surprising! And I was pleasantly surprised!

This manga follows Fudo-kun who is Gelato Red for the Hero group Gelato-5! His arch-nemesis works as part of the evil organisation: the Reaper Princess Desumi-san. This certainly feels like a P*w*r R*ngers type story but with the characters living their normal lives, too. And so we meet these two characters and it turns out they are secretly dating, Romeo and Juliet-style across the hero/ villain divide! And they are so cute with it too, as they have no idea how to date!

I had no idea this would have action, romance, comedy, slice-of-life, cute cats, high school life nonsense and still end of a cliffhanger!!! I was so invested I literally screamed "Noooooooo!" at the end of volume 1! I need a volume 2 now!

So let's talk about Love after world domination...🧚🏾‍♀️

I got this digital manga from netgalley and was super excited to get into it. So thank you netgalley and Kodansha for letting me read this 💃🏾

This manga is about a guy named Fudo who's a hero in a superhero team and a girl named Desumi (her alias is reaper princess🤣) who's this villain that's in this team of super evil villains. Desumi and Fudo like each other though, despite being enemies that are doomed to fight every time they see one another and they decide to start a relationship.

♦️Love after world domination vol 1: 7/10

I liked this a lot, this was a super sweet, quick and light read that I just finished in a day.

I loved how neither of them ever really brings up the fact that the girl belongs to an organization who wants to enslave the whole of human civilization. I mean okay gurl, do you I guess 🤣🤣

They're sort of like "Meh, it'll work out somehow" and you're gonna find yourself thinking the same thing while reading.

Desumi's Alias is reaper princess which I thought was hilarious🤣.

Anywho if you're looking for a quick and fun manga to read, I'm officially recommending it💁🏾‍♀️

As the saying goes: Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer. Romance happening between two opposite sides has been going on since Shakespeare wrote about two crazy-in-love teens from rival families. In the superhero world, Batman and Catwoman have often been paired, despite the feline’s means of thievery and the Dark Knight not being a “cunning linguist”. But after reading the first volume of Love After World Domination, there might just be a new power couple residing behind enemy lines.

Love After World Domination flows lovebirds Fudo and Desumi. Not only are they polar opposites, but they’re also a hero and villain fighting each other until total defeat. However, the hero Fudo can’t help but like what he sees in the villainous Desumi, as he finds the courage to ask her out. Despite it being very dangerous for two foes to start going out, Desumi agrees to the arrangement, as the two find ways to find some quiet private time even during the heat of battle.

Part of the humor of this series is on the fact that these two need to hide their relationship from their respective sides. Although love should have no boundaries, the notion that a hero of justice dating a villain of chaos wouldn’t go so well to their organizations, as well as the general public. So when the two are in-sight by one of their fellow comrades, their lovey-doviness is quickly switched off as they start to fight amongst one another. Not only does it demonstrate the manga’s humorous side, but it also showcases the soul of a true superhero comic with its detailed combat.

In these moments, the art style of Takahiro Wakamatsu shines the greatest, as he can turn a romantic scene into one of violent mayhem in a blink of an eye! One other thing to note about Wakamatsu’s character design is how much he adores the heroes of the Tatsunoko universe. Fudo’s superhero costume is much aligned with that of Gatchaman, whereas Desumi has a look similar to that of Yatterman’s Doronjo. Although the influences are strong, there’s enough uniqueness in both costumes that make them different enough to keep the illustrator from having a lawyer pay him a visit.

From a narrative perspective, Love After World Domination paces itself very well. Instead of doing that old “will they/won’t they” thing almost all manga rom-coms do, writer Hiroshi Noda has already put into play that Fudo and Desumi are already a couple. The the main couple are now fighting for their love to be accepted, as they take baby steps to meet in public and have dates. However, because both are newbies, the art of the date is nothing that they’re quite familiar with.

It’s why it’s funny to see their first public date (in disguises, of course) having Fudo choosing the absolute worst kind of things to do with Desumi. Working out at a gym, running in uncomfortable shoes, and a dinner consisting of a sole protein bar that just scream “disaster” off the top of any love guru’s lungs. Even funnier is when Desumi names popular dating spots during a meeting, so as she and Fudo can run off during the fight and have fun at their expense. These moments aren’t just funny; they’re also very adorable!

Volume One of Love After World Domination is filled with great comedy, heart-pounding action, and the right amount of sweetness. It’s a breather from the nitty-gritty superhero stuff from DC Comics, while having a heart that’s bigger than most Marvel romances. Fudo & Desumi may have to fight off Harley Quinn & Poison Ivy for the title of best comic book couple, but Love After World Domination has a Plus Ultra amount of heart and humor that any rom-com or superhero story lover will find endearing!

This book was so adorable! I loved the connection the main characters had, and how they didn't let their differences and disagreement take away their relationship. The art style is really fun, and not what you would expect out of a romance. I love the cliffhanger at the end, and now I really want to read volume 2 already. If you are a fan of action and romance, this manga is a must for you.

The market is oversaturated with tales of superheroes. However, there is one manga that puts a new spin on the superhero-villain dynamic. Love After World Domination is a unique and thrilling story that includes action, romance, and even suspense. Just the first volume was enough to pull me in and hook me as an avid fan!

Written by Hiroshi Noda and illustrated by Takahiro Wakamatsu, Love After World Domination follows the blossoming love story between Red, whose real name is Fudo Aikawa, and the Reaper Princess, or Desumi Magahara. Fudo is the leader of Gelato 5, an elite fighting squad trying to protect the world's civilians. At the same time, Desumi is a combat leader of Gekko; an evil secret organization bent on world destruction. Though the two are natural archenemies, a unique relationship develops between them. The first volume follows their inexperienced steps, following their feelings and exploring what it means to be together while, of course, hiding their emotions from everyone else.

Love After World Domination Volume 1 quickly unfolds the gripping story while also managing to be funny, cute, and full of action. Readers are immediately immersed in the world featured in the manga. While the details aren't overwhelming, the world is still primarily developed thoroughly enough to feel like it fits into the storyline. Character development is thorough as well and paces throughout the novel after the initial introductions. Each character has developed enough that readers can see beyond their portrayed archetypes, creating unique personalities that readers can connect to and easily find endearing.

The action and romance in Love After World Domination volume 1 are expertly balanced to create a believable dynamic between the two main characters. One minute we see them stumbling to display their feelings towards each other, talking awkwardly and with full blushes, and the next minute a side character appears, and they have to pretend to be fighting each other. The action scenes also add to their character development, as we can see why they're such big names within their respective organizations, making their forbidden love even more special.

To add a final perfecting touch to the series, the comedy within Love After World Domination volume 1 is also well-balanced with the more serious moments. The comedy style ranges from full-on guffaws to cute "awww" moments, offering another way for readers to connect to the characters and the storyline.

Despite all the positives this manga brings, I do have two gripes about it. Firstly, Fudo and Desumi are written as high schoolers, and we see Desumi briefly in her high school uniform when she's headed home. This honestly doesn't seem to fit the characters very well. When I initially read volume 1, I thought they were much older, closer to early adulthood. While I understand this is usually the age group for sentai-themed plotlines, it felt out of place with these characters. They both seemed much more mature than high school, even with their inexperience with relationships, and putting them in that age group seems odd and unnecessary.

The other issue is the development of the love story itself. I would have loved to see a scene or two of Fudo and Desumi fighting before they got in a relationship to see what kind of dynamic they had. We only briefly get to see that, but when the confession is happening, it quickly switches to a more intimate moment. I think a better back story on what they were before would have added to the uniqueness of their relationship and made it so much more of a shocker. However, this is just a massive preference of mine, as I like to see characters develop from before their relationship to throughout it.

Overall, Love After World Domination Volume 1 was a great introduction to what will surely be a cute and exciting storyline. I'm excited to read the subsequent volumes and can't wait to see how they continue to develop their relationship. Currently, three volumes have been published, though the series is ongoing. In addition, in May of this year, an anime adaptation was announced to premiere in 2022, with Funimation licensing the series and Project No. 9 producing it. With how great the first volume was, I will be eagerly awaiting the anime premiere, but in the meantime, I will be reading the subsequent available volumes!

Love After World Domination is a refreshing manga surely! Our main characters are a hero called Fudo Aikawa aka Red Gelato of the Gelato Five and the counter force (or menace) is Desumi Magahara, Reaper Princess. Desumi herself works for the shadow organization Gekko. These two are supposedly mortal enemies and fighting, but actually they are in love and dating and trying to desperately hide the fact. It's great that their relationship is cute and mundane, as realistic as it can be if you consider the circumstances. This is surely the best part of the series and how these two are quite grownup in a sense. So, not your basic shounen romance, which is great. My only worry is that how long can this series go with a premise like this, but gladly the end showed potential where this could go.

The art looks OK, perhaps the panels are a bit stuffed, but otherwise this looks good. The style works for the series and there's humor too. I also liked the fact that Desumi is a full character and of the same value as Fudo. So, not your "save the senseless girl" situation. An interesting series that'll hopefully develop along the way!

This is a forbidden love story between people from two warring factions. While I expected the good art style I was surprised by how hilarious and cute the story was. Adorable characters and a decent story.

Many thanks to Kodansha and NetGalley for providing me an e-copy of Love After World Domination, vol.1 in exchange for an honest review.

The enemies to lovers trope has many fans, but what about enemies to lovers to fake enemies? That's got to be cute, right?

Fudo and Desumi decided to be in a relationship even though they are sworn enemies. He's a hero, a leader of Gelato Five. Their mission is to fight the evil Gekko organization and yes, you've guessed it, Desumi is the Reaper Princess of that sinister organization.

The art is at the same time cute and sexualized. It's a strange combination, but take one glance at Desumi's outfit and you'll know what I'm talking about.

The manga has its fair share of funny and cute moments, but I can't say that I found myself getting attached to any of their characters.

They get into some weird shenanigans but they both mean well and want their strange relationship to work.

If you are looking for a light-hearted, comedic romance manga Love After World Domination might be perfect for you!

This was cute! We follow two characters from opposing sides, one is a hero and one is a villain, as the two of them learn how to hide their relationship from the world.

The two of them were adorable! I loved that the progression of their relationship was taken a lot more slowly. The moments where they snuck off during a battle to be together and hangout were precious!

I didn’t like all of the sexual themed panels, I felt like a few of them were definitely unnecessary. I also don’t entirely understand the world either. There seems to be some magic and a feud between the two sides but nothing is ever fully explained. It just seems like the two sides have random battles every so often but they don’t ever lead to anything.

Overall, I found to be a super sweet romantic manga with action and adorable dates! I just hope we get better world building in the next volume.

This was my first manga genre book and it was very sweet, though I felt a little lost as to the characters' backgrounds. How did they meet? Who are they fighting? Many of the scenarios felt like plot devices to keep the characters meeting then battling. Perhaps this is part of the fun of the genre, or this type of comic. I think the characters were likeable, if a bit shallow. They followed the stereotype of girly girl and macho man pretty heavily. However the scenarios were goofy and fun, and the illustrations were great. The only fault I had with the illustrations was how overtly sexual her outfit was when she was supposed to be a high school student.

Very cute love story and a villian and hero, I love both characters think the illustrations are very good

Love After World Domination is like Romeo and Juliet meets the Power Rangers, with some comedy thrown in. Fudo Aikawa, A.K.A. Red Gelato of the Gelato Five is known to the public as a hero but this hero has a problem he's in love. Unfortunately he's in love with Desumi Magahara, the villainess of the shadow organization Gekko, which is trying to take over the world. What is a hero to do when the one person in the world who understands him and cares for him the most is his arch rival?
Love After World Domination is a hilarious story about two awkward teens who happen to be a hero and villainess, their foray into dating one another, and the high-jinx that occurs when you're hiding the fact that you're dating the enemy from your boss and the public at large...

Ok, other than the MC h being dressed up as a dominatrix and her being in high school, this was TOTES ADORBS as one of my fav characters in another manga/light novel says.

It has the tropes of high schoolers who fight the Big Bad (or who work for the Big Bad), ala Mighty Morphin Power Rangers style, but it's just too cute!

The MC H is just so EARNEST in his love and the MC h is very misunderstood by her fellow Baddies that it is funny.

The "forbidden love" trope is also alive and well, but not done badly at all. It was, at the risk of repeating myself, incredibly cute.

And the ARTWORK was SOOOOOO pretty!! I was very taken by the hands. Hands are very difficult to draw well and they are done well in this.

The story is cute, the characters are adorable and the artwork is impeccable. Other than the slight fan-service with the MC h's outfit, which is more done for trope than shock or true fan-service, this would have been a five star. Also, I read another Kodansha manga right after this one and THAT one made me SQUEE with all the cute-ness, so this one, while absolutely adorable and fun to read, doesn't quite hit that level of SQUEE-dom, so this is a 4.5 rounded down to 4.

I still highly recommend it if you like cute romance and gentle poking fun at certain tropes. I will be recommending it at my store, for sure!

My thanks to NetGalley and Kodansha for an eARC copy of this book to read and review.
