As in any Radclyffe book, the characters had good chemistry and I enjoyed their interactions. The writing flowed well and was engaging. The medical storyline was interesting. However, the pacing was uneven - the majority of the book was set within the timeframe of the day the two main characters met, and the rest of it was a rush to get their relationship to develop and reach the happy ever after stage. Much of that relationship development happened behind the scenes and a significant portion of the book was around other characters so I didn't feel like I got a sense of how these two fell in love. Overall it was a good book but focussing more on the lead characters and less on the wider Rivers universe would have improved it.

Pathway to Love is Radclyffe’s seventh book in The Rivers Community Romance series. I strongly recommend this series be read in their order. The main characters are a part of each book as Radclyffe adds one new character per novel. The back stories for the characters contribute heavily to the sense of the community as the series grows.

Dr. Bennett Anderson is new to the Rivers Hospital after leaving her job in Nashville. She has been hired to create a brand new sports medicine department at The Rivers.
Dr. Courtney Valentine is a first year surgical resident at the hospital. On Bennett’s first day Courtney is circumstantially beside her for an extremely long and intense day. Attraction is definitely present at their first face to face meeting.

Pathway to Love is an angst light romance which is a rarity in this genre. While I appreciate the intention (written through the worst of Covid-19 pandemic), this did leave me somewhat unsatisfied by the end. What can I say, I am a drama junkie.

The medical scenes are realistic and thrilling as always. The parallel story of Margie and Blake draws my attention to the beauty and bleak reality of a young trans boy in a small town. Radclyffe writes their scenes with a soul deep understanding of Blake which shatters my world every time.

Having a new Radclyffe novel in your hands gives you the knowledge that you will be entertained by excellent writing and storytelling. There is a comfort in getting what you expect. This is surely true for The Pathway to Love.

Radclyffe always delivers and she does it again in the newest Rivers Community romance. Doctor Bennett Anderson has an angsty past that leaves her moving from place to place never settling down. But perhaps local girl Courtney can give her a reason to stick around.

Great character depth, especially in side characters, and community are staples of Radclyffe’s books. You know you will see old friends and have a sense of coming home. One of the things I like in this series is the side story of Margie and Blake. It hits the nostalgic notes by reminding us of those teenage years, trying to figure everything out. Yet thru the lens of today, when teenagers have more understanding and acceptance than back in the day.

I'm always excited to read a Radclyffe medical romance. This one follows the same formula of the last one I read of hers from a different series. The first long section (60 percent) takes place all in one day. It is the first day for Dr. Bennett (Ben) Anderson to start at Rivers hospital. Ben will be the head and attending physician for the new Sports medicine department. On day one, even before arriving at the hospital she sees the attractive Dr. Courtney (Court) Valentine a couple of times. Court is a local and is doing her residency at the hospital. Together they work through a busy day in the ER and surgery. It is like an exciting, fast-paced episode of ER or other medical drama. Radclyffe begins their interest in each other from the very first moment.

As a disclaimer I will say this is the 7th book in the Rivers Family Medical series but this is the first one I've read. So there was a lot of interaction with people who I am sure were the main characters from previous books and those readers familiar with them will love catching up with their lives. The book genuinely makes me want to find and read the whole series because it feels like a magical small town (population 2500) that can house a beautiful level one Trauma center and also be inclusive for many sapphic romances. While the main storyline concludes with minimal angst, a major sub-plot with teens is left to conclude hopefully in a future book. I enjoyed reading this novel and I think any Radclyffe fans and sapphic romances readers will enjoy it too. Thank you to Bold Strokes Book and NetGalley for an ARC ebook in exchange for an honest review.

I’m always happy when I see that Radclyffe has written another novel in the “A Rivers Community Romance” series. I fell in love with this series several books ago, and now I have a new one to add to that list with Pathway to Love.

This seventh novel takes us back to the Rivers hospital where the reader meets Dr. Bennett (Ben) Anderson who is just starting work at the Rivers as the new head of the Sports medicine department. Even before Ben gets to work, she (sort of) meets Courtney (Court) Valentine, a first year resident at the hospital. There are definite sparks between the two that increase as they are thrust together during an unusually frantic day at the Rivers. Only time will tell what those sparks mean.

A good portion of this story, about two thirds of the novel, takes place during one hectic day at the hospital. It was very much like “A Day in the Life” of the Rivers and the folks who worked there, with Ben and Court playing in the starring roles. I actually liked this scenario a lot. It reminded me of all those medical dramas on tv that I’ve binged on over the years. The pace is fast and exciting with a lot of action happening around and to the staff and patients. We can see the connection between Ben and Court forming during the work they do together, and the reader gets to reconnect with some characters from earlier books. The last third of the story is slower in pace, and this is where most of the romantic action happens. The romance is fairly low angst, but there is still conflict the two must work through. This conflict is one of the few things I didn’t like about the story. Though I won’t mention it directly, the conflict is a type that I think is often overused in romantic tales.

I really enjoyed reading this story. I had fun catching up with characters from the earlier books as well as enjoying the romance with the newest couple. I also had a great time with the “Day in the Life” of the trauma center at the Rivers. If you are a medical drama fan, a lover of romance, and especially a fan of this series, then you should get this book.

I received an ARC from NetGalley and Bold Strokes Books.

Radclyffe is talented writer. In fact, she is a superior storyteller. But, the story is a bit rushed in this book. The book takes place over essentially one day. A day where to two characters meet and fall in love and the next day they commit to each other.

This is part of the A Rivers Community Romance, and unlike her other series, this doesn't really focus on two characters, or rather it seems like a lot of other characters from the Rivers Community Romance books are woven into this book.

Anyway, Bennett arrives in town to start up a new ortho fellowship, and Courtney is a resident. They meet and fall in love and are a couple within 48 hours.

However it was nice to catch up with Flannery and Abigail and see how life is treating them and seeing how they have blended as a couple.

As a big fan of the Rivers series by Radclyffe I was excited to start this book. As much as I always enjoy these books, this one once again felt rushed and too short. The Blake and Margie story was just left up in the air (no drama at the tryouts?) and while it will probably be picked up again in the next Rivers book it felt like all the loose ends weren't tied up in this one. I was surprised when I tried to page to the next chapter and I realized it was the end of the book. The characters are likable and believable (if you believe there's a little town with a LOT of lesbian medical personnel). Despite these minor gripes, I still enjoyed the book tremendously and can't wait for the next in the series. A gritty crime drama is still on my Radclyffe wish list.

Anyone who’s read my previous reviews will not be surprised that I snatched up the latest Radclyffe as soon as I saw it and won’t be surprised that I enjoyed it.

Pathway to Love is the latest in the Rivers Community Romance Series introducing a new romantic pairing within the walls of the Rivers Hospital. There’s a number of the characters and some underlying plots from the previous books woven in with the main medical romance; so, if you haven’t read the other books, I strongly recommend you don’t start with this one. But I do recommend reading the series – some of Rad’s best works are medical romances and the town, characters and ongoing stories in this series make for a very enjoyable and binge-able read.

After seven books about the lives and loves in this small town, I do admit that I am starting to wonder if there may be some pheromone that lures unsuspecting, brilliant, handsome/gorgeous, brooding/plucky lesbians into town where they get sucked into the Rivers hospital community and find the one woman in the entire world who can 1) restore their jaded faith/hope/broken heart after a tragic loss/horrible break up/scandal; 2) reform their casual player ways/melt their resolve to not become involved/overcome their reservations/doubts/baggage and pave the way to a committed/passionate/forever relationship; or, 3) provide the safety/security/confidence/understanding/acceptance that they have always been looking for/didn’t know they were looking for/didn’t think was possible. All that with smoldering chemistry between the mains as well as lots of action in the ER/OR and the bedroom. But, hey … these are Radclyffe novels. And I get sucked into each and every one of them.

Things pick up in Pathway to love not long after Love on the Night Shift with the arrival of Dr Bennett Anderson as the new head of the fledgling Sports Medicine program at the Rivers Community Hospital. Crossing paths several times with Courtney Valentine, a supporting character from previous novels, before her first official shift intrigues Ben, and when multiple traumas come in, she and Courtney are thrown together on a number of cases.

I will admit that I wasn’t a big fan of Courtney from the previous novels, but she came into her own with this one and I particularly like Bennett. Pairing the two of them worked quite well and there was a strong chemistry between the two with relatively low key angst or drama.

There’s a lot of medical in this medical romance – so those who enjoy this genre will be happy. It kept the pace moving quickly as they jump from one trauma to the next and gives the opportunity to interact with characters from previous novels. There’s also the continuation of the overall development of Margie and Blake’s story and the will they/won’t they get together question get amps up. One of the things I’ve liked best about this series is the Blake/Margie storyline and, unlike most of Rad’s couples, this is a slooooooow burn. Even if they don’t end up together, the two are really well developed and the continued unfolding of these two characters keeps me coming back.

It’s a bit odd how the book is structured – at least 60% of it is one day, the first day, which made this very much of an instant-attract kind of romance and didn’t give as much time for the relationship to grow. After that first day, things skim over about a month or so. It seemed a bit uneven in the pacing/timing for the romance part, but even so, I liked the characters and got sucked into the romance, so it worked.

Great addition to the series.

Bennett is new to town and just got hire to run sports medicine department to help residents to work on different specialties not just focus on one. Courtney and Bennett seen each other in town and find themselves working together and surprise by the attraction they feel. Tragedy strikes which affects not just Courtney but the Rivers family as well and Ben becomes a part of it.

What I like about this series is how everyone comes together in a time of need and your seeing through the eyes of Ben who is intrigued by the connections in this town. I love the teens scenes in this because they seems so grow up but still teens.

This is another dazzling installment to the Rivers Community Romance.
Dr Bennett Anderson arrives in town to help the Rivers set up their new sports medicine department. As usual her first day was anything but routine. She finds herself working along side Courtney Valentine and can't stop thinking about her, the feeling is mutual.
Tragedy will strike close to the River's family and Courtney which will put Ben right in the middle of the family.
Ben has her own history that Courtney is curious about and will try to draw out the story as they spend more time together.

If you haven't read any of the Rivers Community Romances you will still certainly enjoy this but why would you want to miss the others? This is such enjoyable series by Radclyffe as she continues to weave the community together and bring exciting stories to life.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bold Strokes Books for this advanced copy.

Another good Rivers Medical Centre romance from Radclyffe. I like that she brings in the existing characters from earlier books in the series and makes them a part of the new storyline. (And not just those from the Rivers family).
I don’t think there is any book by Radclyffe that I would not recommend.

Radclyffe does it again! Another wonderful Rivers Novel! When Ben accepts an assignment at a rural hospital to fill a gap year before a new and exciting job, she plans to keep her head down, make no friends or connections and keep it moving. She certainly isn't planning on romance! Love the Rivers clan and can't wait for the next one.

ARC received via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This is part of the Rivers series, and I’m not going to do a detailed review, because frankly, if you’ve read any of the other books in this series, then you know what will happen here.

This follows the same pattern as the others, a character comes to town (in this case Bennet), and is some form of medical professional (in this case head of ortho) and immediately falls for a character from a previous book (in this case Courtney, cousin of Val who featured in Love to the Rescue).

The first 75% of the book takes place over one very long day during which the two characters fall instantly for each other and then the rest of the relationship is crammed into the last 25%, which is enough time for them to know they’ve found the one and commit to each other.

As always, there’s also an inordinate number of queer characters in this very small town. There’s also some advancing of a few storylines from previous books, like Court and Val’s relationship and more of the teen storyline that largely features Blake and Margie. That’s always the most interesting part of these books.

Rad really needs to learn to pace her books properly and not spend 3/4 of the story on one day to give readers time to invest in the relationship. Anyone who’s read the others will likely wants to read this but if Rad wants to write more about this town I wish she’d stop introducing new couples and just focus on the ten or so she’s got already and flesh them out. 2.5 stars.
