This was a fab globetrotting collection. It was so interesting to read crime fiction set in so many different places. I am very much a creature of habit in my crime story locations and this book took me out of my comfort zone. I will definitely check out some of the authors from this collection in the future.

I loved the idea of this book - around the world in 22 crimes. I read a lot of crime books, and they can blend into each other after a while.

Reading a compilation of short stories encompassing diverse cultures was just the way to get my mojo back.

There are some real gems in this collection, and now I have a new list of authors to discover.

Thanks to the authors, editors, HarperCollins, and NetGalley for the eARC of this book.

Each short story is unique and packs a punch. A great read.

I was excited about this one, and while it was interesting to see around the world in 22 murders it was rather a mixed bag in terms of the stories. I think part of it is that the stories needed more room, and there was a few that just didn't land the ending for me. My favourite story was Jumping Ship, and it was the highlight of the collection for me.

Thanks to HarperCollins UK and NetGalley for ARC.

This is a short story collection, featuring established and emerging crime writers from across the globe.
The variety of voices and styles was refreshing, there's not one dud among the 22, and it's led to an alarming increase in my TBR pile. Well done to the editors and publishers for pulling it together.

This is a completely brilliant collection of diverse voices from across the globe, collated by the killer- combo of Vaseem Khan and Maxim Jakubowski. An eclectic mix of voices, with a refreshingly balanced gender mix, all works in harmony to bring us the creme de la creme of the international crime writing scene. I’m not going to play favourites, as by and large, the majority of the stories in this collection are outstanding, and I am very happy to discovered a couple of authors I was completely unfamiliar with. It all works like one of those super tasty chocolate/whisky tasting boxes and there is indeed a flavour to suit everyone. Some pretty damn ingenious crimes too…

A fantastic, varied collection of crime fiction! If you're looking for a book that will either offer up surprises and variety, then I'd recommend this. If you're looking for something to dip in to because of a busy schedule, or between full-length novels, then I'd recommend this.

Excellent. Very highly recommended.

I loved this compilation of short stories. Each story centred around a crime (or crime-to-be), with a really diverse cast of characters and settings, all really well done. I loved the variety, the representation, especially of indiginous people, and the huge range of situations the stories presented.
Each story varied in length and pace which meant I flew through them and the opening story really sets a high bar for the rest of the book. There were come author names I recognised but others I didn't and will definitely be checking them out.
As an aside, I also had an audio copy of this and listened to some of the stories (but flicked through them all to have a quick listen) and the cast of narrators are excellent, they really add to it.
If you're interested in crime stories, or even want a nice introduction to crime writing, definitely give this book a go.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for the advance copy of this title in return for the honest review. Out now.

The Perfect Crime is an outstanding short story collection filled with diverse crime stories set all over the world. The mysteries are solid and captivating. I enjoyed the authors that were included. The stories are all fairly short, so if you're looking for truly quick crime short stories, this is an excellent collection to get ahold of. Highly recommended!

I’ve read a few anthologies/collections edited by Maxim Jakubowski and this is another fine compilation of crime stories from him along with Vaseem Khan.

Still dipping in and out of this long collection but the ones I’ve connected with so far are all from authors I know so my three standouts are:

S.A. Cosby’s ‘The Mayor of Dukes City’ which, as you might expect from the author of Razorblade Tears, has a violent side.

Silvia Moreno-Garcia’s ‘The Land of Milk’ and Honey, a love story with a bitter sting in its tail.

Nadine Matheson’s ‘The Long Con’ a story of two con artists who end up together and ultimately try to outcon each other.

Good value collection for crime/thriller fans and you might find a new favourite author in here.

3.5 stars rounded up to 4.

Around the world in 22 crimes!

I love short stories and this collection paired voices from underrepresented groups with a good mystery in each.

From crime scene photographers to garden gnome mysteries, each story takes place in a different setting around the world and creates a brilliant mismatch of cultures. I read this alongside listening to the audiobook and loved listening to each of the different voices!

The Perfect Crime is a brilliantly curated collection of short stories that take us around the world, to different countries and communities, but all with a common thread - CRIME!

The 22 authors in this collection might be less mainstream or 'well known' than in some of the other anthologies edited by Jakubowski, but that perfectly highlights the point of this collection - to celebrate diversity in crime writing and avoid always highlighting the same authors over and over again. I recognised a few names in this collection - Sanjida Kay, Vaseem Khan (who edited the collection along with Maxim Jakubowski) and Imran Mahmood - so got to discover lots of great new authors, which I was thrilled about.

As expected, the stories are very varied - some are much grittier than others, some make for really uncomfortable reading (for a range of reasons) and some are surprisingly humorous (in a dark and twisted way!)! Unsurprisingly, I preferred over others, but all of them had their own unique style, twist or intrigue to them. A selection of my favourites are Death in Darjeeling, A Murder of Brides, Jumping Ship, Clout Chaser, The Beautiful Game, Quiet Night In and The Yellow Line - in fact, I enjoyed pretty much all of them. Such a good mix!

I don't think anyone will be disappointed at the standard of stories in this collection, and its focus on promoting authors from diverse backgrounds is brilliant.

The Perfect Crime is a brilliant collection of short crime stories from different cultures around the world!

22 amazing stories from 22 authors. I had a few favourites (listed below), discovered a few new authors and books to add to my list and genuinely enjoyed the whole reading experience.

Favourite stories:

For Marg - J P Pomare - after googling the author I found I have his other book on my tbr

Sundown - Sheena Kamal

Jumping Ship - Oyinkan Braithwaite - always love her short stories

Paradise Lost by Abir Mukherjee

Clout Chaser - Rachel Howzell Hall

The Beautiful Game - Sanjida Kay - this one actually gave me a nightmare after reading it just before bed!

Actually I'll stop there because I've basically listed every single story so far and there really weren't many of the 22 that I didn't love!

I definitely recommend this one if you like crime short stories

I didnt realise this was a compilation, however there are some good short stories in amongst this collection....its a definite skill yo be able to write a very short story, no time to develop characters, etc.. so in the main, the authors have done well....many thanks to Netgalley.co.uk and the publisher and authors for allowing me to review this ARC.

A nice mix of crime fiction, with some authors I had read before, but many I hadn't. All short story collections are hit and miss but in general this is a strong set. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC
