Super cute story that keeps you interested the whole way through. I fell in love with the main character. She was so well done and very likeable.

This is a cute romance with an older heroine. Jen gets laid off from her airline stewardess job, but she’s won a free trip. She can’t decide who to take with her, so she goes on the dating sites.

I loved Jen’s attitude, she doesn’t let anything get her down for long. The book was funny too, which made it a quick read. 4 stars.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed as in this review are completely my own.

The story follows a woman at a crossroads in both her dating and career life, and it's entertaining to watch her navigate her way through these challenges. One of the highlights of the book is the relationship between the Jen and her daughter, which is both heartwarming and relatable.

Overall, this book is a perfect holiday read or a great choice for anyone in need of a pick-me-up. The writing style is engaging and the plot is well-paced, making it a quick and enjoyable book. This is a women's fiction book which I found to be heartwarming, uplifting and funny. I really enjoyed reading it.

Jen is a middle aged woman who loses her job as a flight attendant, of which she has worked for many years. She is shocked, and she doesn't know what to do with herself, as she feels like she has lost her identity. We go on a journey with her as she re-discovers herself and builds her life back up again. I really liked Jen and her story, and I laughed out loud with her a lot as I raced through the book.

If you are looking for a feel-good, easy read to uplift you, then you will love this book. Highly recommended.

Many thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for a copy of this book.

Oh, dear, Jen doesn't have much luck with dating, does she? So many frogs out there! The dating scenes were so funny, they had me chuckling out loud.

But aside from the humour, some very real issues are addressed, from single parenting, an increasingly forgetful mother and trying to start again job-wise at 50.

Although there was a great deal of would-be romance in this story, there wasn't much ACTUAL romance, but it did contain considerable promise of it towards the end, and it was definitely uplifting.

Amusing and entertaining, this is not one to be missed.

Love books by this author. This didn't disappoint. A great story, with many different characters. An interesting glimpse into online dating. I really didn't want to put it down!

I loved that this book focuses on a woman in her fifties, facing a huge life crisis. She’s just lost her job as a flight attendant and has two tickets for a romantic getaway. Now that the airlines gone bust, there’s a deadline on the tickets and Jen needs to find a romantic interest to take with her. The problem is Jen is she’s not so confident in the relationship area of her life.

I honestly laughed so much reading this book, it was full of ups and downs but there was some great funny moments thrown in too. I loved how relatable and realistic this whole story was. She lost her job because the company went bust, she wasn’t expecting it. Can you imagine finding yourself Without a job at 50? After a whole career of flying the skies as an air hostess? Crazy!

A great read!

I am always a fan of Fiona Gibson so was thrilled to be approved for this. It is the story of Jen, who loses her dream job, on Budgie Airlines, a job she absolutely adores, pretty much overnight. I felt for her so much when, at the age of 50 (coughs-a young age), she had to figure her life out again.

With the help of some great characters we get to see Jen as she dates, but also get a tougher and sadder storyline with her mum.
I will never ever not recommend a Fiona Gibson book and this is no different! Warm and lovely, funny and sometimes cringeworthy, I really enjoyed this book!

This story was entertaining but not anything I will remember. I enjoyed reading about a 50 year old basically starting over and finding herself. This was a lighthearted read.

Jennifer loves her job working for Budgie airline, a skilled steward who has worked for the company for over 20 years. When she hears the workforce have been made redundant with immediate effect she has some difficult decisions to make. Hannah, her only daughter to best friend Rod, encourages her to cease the opportunity and join the world of online dating once and for all. What has she got to lose? A lovely heart warming read with some delightful and some not so desirable characters.

An easy and funny book first time reader of Fiona GIbson.
Jen is a 50 year old woman, recently redundant from her long term job as an air hostess. She is worried about her future but her daughter Hannah friends persuade her to do internet dating. She gets herself a new job she as a shop assistant, and finds herself getting reacquainted with her ex Rod who is Hannah's father.. This is an hilarious journey of Jen getting her on her feet with some funny and cringey internet dates..

A very modern phenomenon of internet dating. Who hasn't tried internet dating and had a bad date or two, well you're not alone because so is Jen. an honest and fun read centred around modern themes. I would Highly recommend a read. Find out if Jen gets her happily ever after and have a few laughs along the way.

I was really enjoying this because the idea of an old woman, finding happiness again in her life excited me, and felt really unique. But the book was really slow for me, the indecisiveness made it boring. I'd recommend this if you enjoy a slow moving plot, but because I like fast-paced books more, this one wasn't for me.

Jennifer Moreton works as a flight attendant for Budgieair. This has always been her dream since she was little and she's managed to fulfil it for 20 odd years. Until they go bust! Will she ever fly again? Can she pick her life up when she hits the bottom? Can her friends persuade her to change her life in more ways than one?

After reading "When life gives you lemons" my first one of Fiona's books. I loved it so much I knew I wanted to read every new title she wrote.

The characters are mainly all heart warming and make you feel like they could just engulf you with a hug and all will be OK. Whilst you are their biggest cheerleaders encouraging them to make the right choices in their life

This book is a great read all year round and you never feel that you are missing anything from the story line allowing you to follow it through until the end with confidence.

Although their are some emotional subjects included in this book such as denentia, theft, single parents, scams, amongst other things. I do not feel this takes away from the joyous and honest feel of the book and I feel actually gives each character a third dimension to get your teeth into. Whilst Being representative of the trials and tribulations felt in modern society.

I have lived in Scotland for 3 years, previously, therefore really appreciated the true Scottish style, representation and setting within the book.

However I did find the beginning slow going to get into which is unusual for Fiona's books. I do wonder if it was more my mood and mindset at the time. Hence why I am giving it 4.5 stars as opposed to a solid amount.

4.5/5

“Meet Jen. Flight attendant. Mum to a grown-up daughter. Permanently single.“

The premise of this story is so cute and fluffy! This is really an age-is-just-a-number and life-begins-anytime kind of story.

Fifty year old Jen is quite content with her life. She has been working with Budgie air for almost thirty years and is very happy in her job until…she got made redundant due to budget cuts! Jen was at a lost of what to do and decides she must start looking for a new job again but who would hire her? In the middle of it all, her friends pressured her into dating again and so she created a profile on an online dating site. And so her dating adventure begins! Hello awkward conversations and weird men but Jen’s curiosity for life helped her have a more positive and daring outlook on life.

I love Jen’s personality and how she throws herself into trying new things despite her fear. It must be so daunting to lose a job that you’ve know forever and just thinking of starting afresh is giving me goosebumps but I thought that Jen handled her situation very well.

Jen’s dating experiences were quite hilarious to read as she navigates through the dating website and trying to strike up conversations with men. I also find it refreshing to see a main character who is fifty and single going through life’s ups and downs!

Although the story felt repetitive at times, this is still a feel-good and light read! Thank you Netgalley and Avon Books for the arc.
