Really fun read by Fiona Gibson, who is one author I find that you can always rely on for a great read and more than a few laughs along the way.

50 something Jen is devastated when made redundant from her airline job. She is encouraged by her grown up daughter to move on and also look for love online.

The book follows Jen through a raft of hilarious dates and tells the tale of her relationship with her daughter’s dad, her best friend Rod. I really wanted them to end up as a couple as they seemed so perfect together. However the unexpected ending and the way Jen’s mum is described with her dementia becoming more concerning were brilliant foils to the humour in the book.

A definite feel good read and thanks to Netgalley, the author and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

Enjoyable read.

I liked how in the story, Jen didn't tie her happiness to finding a man but actually to finding herself.

A nice summer read. Enjoy.

First Fiona Gibson book I have read in over 10 years. Why did I wait so long?!. Really enjoyed this book.

Jen is in a crossroads in her life. Made redundant, a grown up daughter with her own life and her love life- what love live.

Loved Jen’s adventures into online dating as a more mature lady. She is a strong woman who knows what she wants- got to love her for that.

Enjoyable read- recommend

Jen has been a 50-year-old flight attendant with BudgieAir for nearly 30 years. She is a single mom to 23-year-old, Hannah. Jen has just learned that her airline has gone bankrupt and she is out of a job. Compensation is not much and will soon end. She has always loved her job and been very good at it.

While she applies for jobs, her friends finally convince Jen to sign up with a dating app. Most of the men responding to her are real losers but some seen genuine. However, a time or two together and the cracks in the personalities of the men begin to show up.

Before losing her job, Jen had won an all-expense paid trip to stay at a nice resort in Santorini but now she must take the trip within a few months or lose it. She’s trying to figure out who she wants to take.

Jen finds herself growing now that she is unemployed. She is pushing herself to run and keep up with it. Along with that, she is also tasked with keeping an eye on her mother who is slowly sinking into dementia.

I really liked Rod and wanted more for them. The ending of the book was not what I wanted to see, so that disappointed me somewhat. But I did like that Jen is a real person and the kind one would like for their friend.

This is a fun and quick read about a middle-aged woman who loses the only job she's ever had, and how she works out her next steps. It's not only job-wise that she has to start from scratch, but she also allows herself to be persuaded to try dating again - online this time. As a long-term single, and a woman with no qualifications on paper, both are an uphill battle, and both are recounted with humor and a growing sense of self-awareness. There is no real plot development, but it's an enjoyable read to be along for part of the ride.

This was a simple, easy and quick read. The perfect type of book for your holiday, beach, pool kind of read. This is a first for me by the author and one I enjoyed and would read more of their work. The book cover is eye-catching and appealing and would spark my interest if in a bookshop. Thank you very much to the author, publisher and Netgalley for this ARC.

The story is about Jen, suddenly made redundant. She has to find a new path, at the age of 50, having lost the job she loved and the only one she has ever done. She is also persuaded to try online dating so we follow her navigating this. The final storyline is Jen's mum with health issues.

I really loved this book - more than I thought I would! If you asked me 'Why?', I'm not really sure; this book is not ground-breaking or life changing but I really liked it. I was drawn to Jen as a character and found myself quickly returning to the book. It is a light, easy read and felt like escapism. It made me smile and I enjoyed following Jen's adventure as she created a new life for herself.

It was great to see a contemporary that had an older main character. Not just that but an older me that just didn't want to give up on themselves.

This was such a quick and easy read and I would highly recommend

Oh i did really enjoy this story, it made a change to be reading about a women over 50, who is balancing life. She's been made redundant from a job she loves, she is struggling with a empty nest, dealing with elderly parents and trying to navigate the dating world.
They are true to life characters, you can relate to these changes in her life and how difficult it must be to juggle everything. The story was a bit slow in places but it didn't matter you were willing her on to do well
Its a very good reading, I would recommend

“I didn’t want to believe that nothing happens by chance anymore; that magic is obsolete. Because things do just happen. Little miracles happen every day.”

After nearly 30 years of working as a flight attendant with BudgieAir, Jen and her colleagues are made redundant. Then there is the matter of the week long all-expense paid holiday for two to Santorini she won as a prize and now has until the end of the year to redeem.

Propelled by her daughter, Hannah, and her friends, she agrees to try out online dating because, as Hannah insists ‘No one meets in real life, Mum. It’s all algorithms now.’

I liked how the author did not make this all about the romantic liaisons but also about discovering new passions and grabbing hold of second chances. The conversations in the book are ridiculously weird but could also be straight out of a day you may well be having.

In having a mature protagonist, the author balances the craziness with the need to reinvent oneself. The author does away with the cliched ending and indicates a fresh start for Jen which I thought was wonderful. The epilogue, bringing everything together, seems propitious.

You could call this a rom-com but Jen’s story is so much more. Inspiration can be a revelation at any age and Gibson brings that here with a modern approach to internet dating and Jen’s renewed vision to life. She makes this relatable and entertaining in an unexpectedly heartfelt way, leaving you with a big smile on your face and a warm glow in your heart.

An enjoyable book about a 50 year old Jen who is made redundant from her flight attendant job and at the same time decides to try online dating. I found it slow at times and the plot was slightly predictable but saying that it was incredibly refreshing to see things from an older woman's point of view.

Great read for everyone but if you happen to be in your fifties is also shows how you can still meet the man of your dreams. Although I am younger I still thought this was a very enjoyable story. Well worth 5 stars. and I recommend it to all.

Jennifer Morton is a flight attendant. Correction... Was a flight attendant. Past tense. She's a fifty year's old unemployed ex flight attendant now. Wondering what to do next with time in her hands and her feet on the ground, she finds herself testing online dating sites just because of her twenty something year old insistence. But life doesn't get easier once you get to that and and status and a few more ingredients start to pop up to spice up her existence. New experiences collide against old habits and the mix begins to get interesting.
I loved this book very much. The characters are absolutely lovable, the pace is fantastic and the end is fabulous. It's one of these pieces I can say I loved from the first paragraph to the last. Quite enjoyable!
This is not the first book I read from this author, and it will not be the last.
