This is the first of a series about three sisters. This book is set in the years 1913 to 1919 against the backdrop of the major issues of the time, namely the First World War and Women's Rights.. It is told from the point of view of each sister and their mother, who has a significant story of her own to tell, and there are occasional chapters from the viewpoints of the men in their lives. The author has researched the period well, especially the Gallipoli Campaign. This book reaches a satisfactory conclusion but leaves the door open for the sequels..

“Love in a Time of War” by Adrienne Chinn, new author to this reader was a captivating and wonderful read. Having never read any of this author’s works before, I thought the story was well-written and a story that draws the reader into the lives of the Fry Sisters. The story starts off a bit slow in the beginning but with novels I’ve read related to war times that was understandable for me and did not deter me from continuing the read.

The scene is during war time 1913 over a span of approximately six years and is told through the perspective of the Fry Sisters, Cecelia, Jessie and Etta. I loved these characters because their personalities and view of their stories captures you and appears so realistic when they tell their stories of the emotions and feelings during that timeframe. This is where I think Chinn has done a remarkable job of bringing these characters to life on page to make the reader see them as more believable than fictional. Sub-characters, to include their mother was a welcome addition to the well-written plot.

I’ve come to love the One More Chapter series stories as they have been enlightening and worth the read. This was a heartfelt and warm story of family and how the war changed the lives of three sisters. Truly enjoyed this story. A highly recommended read.

This beautiful, amazing story was so good.
The Three Fry Sister's Cecelia, Jessie and Etta were unforgettable.
The mother Christina her worries were real.
Their character just jumped out at you, and their story is stunning.
Chinn's writing is captivating. I felt these ladies and what they had to endure during the war in 1913.
I will be looking out for for book two!
A realistic, raw, beautiful book.

A charming story of three sisters during WW1 and how their lives change, as the book finished on another storyline, I guess the author is planning another one or two books , it wouldn’t be my usual type of genre but there was something engaging about the book.

This felt like a very appropriate read given the time of year and with Remembrance Day coming up. I thought this book got off to a slowish start although I did like it. There were some characters I liked more than others and I have to say the ones I didn’t like much at first slowly grew on me as the book progressed. This is a beautifully written book that takes place mostly over a 6 year timeline with much of it being set during the war time period and I think the author has portrayed her characters so realistically and believably and wrote of their thoughts, feelings and emotions so eloquently. I loved the way the story was told through the different characters as the war progressed and from different places. I could picture some of the scenes and characters in my mind when reading, and I think the author has done a great job of making them come vividly to life as she wrote their stories. This, for me, was such a lovely and engaging read, it was sad, heart breaking, poignant and yet a very well written book that had my attention from the first page to the last and held it all the way through. If you like family stories, particularly told during war time and times of adversity I would highly recommend this book. I really, really enjoyed this book and felt quite sad when I reached its end, and looking forward to the next book featuring this family.
