Wow! What a book this is. It’s absolutely jam packed with useful information and gorgeous pictures.
There are detailed maps, all different itinerary suggestions based on where in Japan you are visiting and for different lengths of stay.
Japan is already on my list of places I want to visit, and this book will definitely be purchased to help with planning the trip and using while I’m there.
My thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for allowing me to read this book in return for an honest review.

This is a handy, yet packed book with a lot of information that would be useful for tourists and travellers. The photos give a good idea of what to expect, and the text is well written and comprehensive. I liked that there are sections that focus on different types of stays in Japan - for foodies, travelling on a budget, etc, and for the length of time that you might be staying there. I read a eBook review copy, and I think you would need to have a pocket-sized hard copy to carry with you for best usage.

This is a really lovely guidebook and would suit both those planning on visiting as well as those who'd just like to read about Japan..

It's full of lovely photographs of Japan that makes choosing what to see really difficult. To help you as a traveller, DK have provided overviews of the regions with suggested itineraries based on your length of stay as well as preferences, e.g. 2 weeks in Japan, 5 days in Central Honshu, Japan on Page and Screen, Gardens, Japan for Families.

Instead of providing a detailed overview of all of Japan, DK have focussed on some key tourist sites and cities. Of the guides to places, around 30% is devoted to Tokyo including walking itineraries in the different districts. Kyoto is the only other city to receive such a detailed treatment with the other cities and sites featuring as part of their respective chapters. There are cut-aways to show how castles and temples are built as well as many walking/driving tours of different regions.

The one thing this guidebook doesn't have is a large section on places to stay although there are suggestions throughout so to find places to stay, you'll need to look elsewhere.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

A really useful guide to Japan, particularly interesting for me as we have plans to travel.

Jam packed as you expect with some stunning pictures, which I'd like to have known where they were taken, but still inspiring the travel bug within. This book includes many places to visit and not just the main and most popular cities, I'd really like to visit a lot of Japan especially the islands and the temples are always a firm favourite as is the history with the geisha's etc - this is what appeals to me the most and getting as much information as I can is a definite must, DK Eyewitness travel books always prove to be a great resource!

With thanks to netgalley for the free ARC in return for my review, I fully enjoyed it.

One of the first tour guides I have read was from DK Eyewitness collection about Japan. But that was many many years ago leaving me with such a desire to explore Japan at some point in my life. Therefore I was very thrilled to read an updated version of the guide.

DK Eyewitness Japan includes
- stunning bright photographs of Japanese people, culture, cities, nature
- maps for easier orientation and easier planning of the trip
- tips ‘Must See’ & ‘Must Do’

This guide made it for me all over again, leaving me with a feel of wanting to travel to Japan one day. Visiting temples, finding a peace in Japanese gardens & Japanese countryside, and to absorb Japanese culture as much as I possibly can.

With thanks to NetGalley and especially to DK, DK Eyewitness Travel for an electronic ARC in return for an honest review.

A really useful guide to Japan and the regions with lots of wonderful tips. I learnt a lot and I found out a lot about the costs of things and the best routes to take. I did find the trip numbers a bit confusing like Tokyo for x number of days etc. I would have liked more route suggestions across Japan.

Filled with lovely pictures I also would have appreciated more credits to where these images were taken and by whom. Especially when it came to food as I wanted to see more about those restaurants.

A lovely book on Japan, especially good if you wish to visit as it includes many of the places to see, not just in the main cities but also the islands, such as a temple walk that would take you 6-8 weeks to complete.

I like the history, customs and more that come in this book

I received this book from Netgalley in return for a honest review.

The DK Eyewitness books are the gold standard in my mind of travel books. I use them for all my trips where possible and used an earlier edition of this book on my most recent trip to Japan in 2019.

The book has been updated with new information so it is bang up to date and has all of the nice touches expected from these editions. The information is arranged in a coherent way which makes it easy to dip in and out of. I particularly like the suggested itineraries for defined lengths of stay which help to focus traveller priorities. The diagrams of particular key sites are fantastic and beautifully illustrated and the book suggests interesting and out of the norm attractions and restaurants to consider. It's always tricky fitting an entire country into one travel book but I think they've managed to highlight key points of interest better than any other guide I have seen.

Sometimes I buy these books for places I know I will probably never go to because they are so engaging and educational and this edition is no different.

A tourist guide geographically divided that indicates, in addition to the places to see, also the best and most typical hotels, restaurants and stores. In addition, the photos are beautiful.

Una guida turistica geograficamente suddivisa che indica, oltre ai posti da vedere, anche i migliori e piú tipici alberghi, ristoranti e negozi. Inoltre le foto sono bellissime.

I received from the Publisher a complimentary digital advanced review copy of the book in exchange for a honest review.

I’ve only visited Japan once, and this book has made me hanker for at least another visit. Planning a trip overseas can be daunting and diving into the internet for info can be so overwhelming! I would use DK Eyewitness Japan as a reliable springboard for planning my itinerary. I liked that must-sees are highlighted for Tokyo and all other areas of the country. The insider tips could prove useful! Price indicators are given for short lists of suggested eateries and hotels (some are expensive) and there’s always something attractive, interesting or different such as the hostel where you sleep between bookshelves! If you want to try Japanese alcohol, the Drinks sections would be right up your alley. No drinks for me, give me info on where to get the famous Japanese stationery and art supplies any time. Ha!

As you might expect from a DK publication, This book is full of colourful and gorgeous photographs, maps and diagrams.

Certainly a useful publication for anyone lucky enough to be going to Japan soon.
