What an ending!!! The book spent a long time re-introducing old characters and their backgrounds from previous novels before the story really got going, but got going it did. I feel like this was written as the first episode in a new line of Skinner novels as the other characters had more involvement and seem well rounded and relatable enough to carry future instalments with Skinner firmly in the backseat.

I always enjoy Quintin Jardines Bob Skinner series and this was no exception. It was a little slow to start and some of the plot was a little far fetched. However, it was thoroughly enjoyable and hurtled along at the end to a cliffhanger! Thanks to Netgalley for chance to review.

Deadlock is the latest book in the long running Bob Skinner series by Quintin Jardine and whilst it does not quite achieve the heights of the best books in the series it is still an enjoyable and easy read which kept the pages turning ever more rapidly as the book hurtled towards its conclusion

Bob Skinner's got cabin fever. Having been quarantined after a trip to Spain and catching Covid, he's understandably fed up. So being roped in as a general dogsbody for the elderly and vulnerable of Gullane during lockdown is a welcome relief...until the elderly start dying.

And Bob is involved with all the old gang again when an unwelcome visitor from the past resurfaces asking for help because they think they have a stalker.....

I absolutely love the Bob Skinner stories - brilliantly written, with the greatest, most realistic cast of characters you'll ever find. As ever, Quintin Jardine leaves us unable to wait for the next instalment.

The book is so nerve-wrecking so I can not express enough about the plot. The plot is so interesting that you will find yourself gasping everytime you find something new. Thank you so much netgalley providing an arc!
I really like the worldbuilding, and how the author can create a world that has the capability of making us vicariously live through it. I feel like the introduction was a bit too slow-paced for me. The characters are fairly interesting.
Henceforth, it was quite a good read.
