This was an exciting adventures book. Out in the beautiful wilds of nature. It was very well written. The plot was well put together and played out well

Due to a family passing at the time, I was unable to download this in time before it was archived, and having only returned after several years away due to it severely affecting me, I am now working my way through those reviews I was unable to get to to detail the issue. Thank you for the opportunity, and I look forward to working with you in the future.

Just loved how this book captured my attention in the first chapter, the author went right in and he did not slow down til the last sentence. I loved the characters and really enjoyed how it was written!

Hard Hitting Prose…
Kingfisher Lodge, a boutique resort, is located on a band of pristine water and, for Jack, is an attempt to recover some normalcy. This seemingly idyllic retreat, however, houses much more than can be seen on the surface and Jack soon finds himself on a treacherous journey. A slow burn suspense with beautifully descriptive writing and straightforward, hard hitting prose. A superb read.

This book was so fast paced and full of tension. I was gripped right from the start and it was so compelling that I couldnt put it down. The writing is so good with well developed characetrs, a great setting and a great storyline. I really liked it.

Another great adventure read by Peter Heller.
Equally as action-packed as the companion novel - The River, but much more mysterious.

Following on (kind of) from The River we see Jack still struggling to get over those events take a new job as a fishing guide when he begins to notice bizarre goings-on around the resort.

I didn't think a novel could interest me in fly fishing but it did! Rich clients go to this lodge to fish trout and other fish for a price. they are there to avoid the world, to escape what is going on in the world outside. Quite a premise! it builds slow but you are always wondering just what is going on and how things will pan out. Yes I had fun fishing for and then catching the answers! haha sorry

I read this for a blog tour.

this was clever and disturbing as Jack and Allison try to discover what's really going on at Kingfisher Lodge, with the strange supposed neighbour and the young people in hospital gowns being shuttled about beyond the fence.
Set in a near future where coronaviruses are more common place and the threat of another pandemic looms large, the idea that wealthy people might isolate themselves in luxury isn't that strange, and the only way anyone else can access that is by being staff. But when things don't add up, and the manager makes threats, it's easy to see why Jack can't leave well enough alone and starts digging.

Kingfisher Lodge is located in a stretch of the world’s most pristine water – water that is perfect for those who love fishing, experienced and inexperienced. The Colorado resort is sheer luxury with guests’ every whim catered for, and talented guides on hand to ensure you make the best catch possible. Just ignore the sign that says ‘Don’t Get Shot’ and you’ll be fine. After a life filled with loss, Jack is at the resort hoping to make peace with his past and get a start on his future. He’s skilled in fishing and when assigned to a well-known singer – think global superstar – his job is give her an experience unlike any other. Which, as it turns out, is exactly what happens as the two are caught up in the dodgy and downright dangerous goings-on in the idyllic resort. What is the location really about? How will Jack get out of it? It’s a pacy read that picks up towards the end with a resolution that is satisfying on many levels.
