The food in this looked amazing and I love that it’s focused on whole foods rather than junk-style ingredients (think BOSH etc) . It definitely strikes the perfect balance between modern and dynamic and healthy and whole food based (basically what I think of as the 70s vegan - lentils, pulses, seeds bur without the sandals and incense) It’s great, basically.

One small comment would be that it’s hard to source ingredients if you a) don’t have a west-Indian/global community/food store local to you or b) access to an online store. Unfortunately where I live I did struggle to get ingredients, however; the recipes I could source for were great. It was fresh flavours and comfort food at the same time. Would definitely definitely recommend.

This book is quite a find.
I am neither vegetarian, nor vegan, but like many others I am interested in increasing my intake of plant- based meals. This book is a huge help for that, and particularly so if, like me, you love food from the Caribbean.
The book is full of lovely photos, of food of course but also places and people, bringing sunshine and life into the book...
The recipes are varied and tempting, a lot of ideas to make flavoursome plant-based food with a kick, what's not to like?
The first recipe I tried was Sticky Ginger Cake, yum ! I then made Chili bean and avocado salad and Bulgur wheat and peas which were very nice, great for lunch the next day too. Jerk BBQ veggies were lovely (made them on a plancha) and what I particularly appreciated is that there are home made recipes for most condiments if you want to avoid shop bought (jerk BBQ sauce, chili jam, mango chili sauce...), brilliant!
All in all a very exciting plant-based book with a sunny difference. I will definitely be checking out these boys first book too :-)

This is an amazing introduction to plant- based Caribbean cooking and since I have never had authentic Caribbean food before - mainly because I have the chilli threshold of a toddler - I was SOOO excited to see this book.

There really is much to love here, especially if this is a cuisine you want to try as the recipes look both delicious and accessible and cover a range of scenarios and influences that will make you drool.

A couple of suggestions I would make for future editions would be to have a description of unfamiliar ingredients at the front of the book, rather than the back and a range of online stockists for things like sea moss would also be helpful. I don’t really understand why the ingredients are listed after the method, either, as it’s a bit weird tbh.

Also, it would be good to know what ‘hard bread’ is.

Determined to find more interesting Vegan recipes with actual ingredients rather than 'fake meat' this book wonderfully fit my requirements. Containing a multitude of different types of meals from snacks to drinks and main courses. Presented with mouthwatering pictures and engaging text that makes you want to cook, the recipes are easy to follow and written in an engaging way that isn't gimmicky. I loved all the different curries, was delighted to find a Vegan Jamaican ginger cake recipe and the rum roasted potatoes were a wonder at Christmas. Thoroughly recommended for anyone wishing to enjoy Caribbean food that is also Vegan.

This was really interesting and lead me to a different type of cuisine than I normally cook. The recipes were easy to follow and the pictures helpful.

I was given an advance copy by the publishers and netgalley but the review is entirely my own.

The recipes contained within Natural Flava by Craig and Shaun McAnuff are mouthwateringly delicious and in keeping with the Jamaican tradition of plant based - ital cooking which we popularly call vegan cooking in the West.

There are recipes that are a spin on popular dishes which will have the keen meat eater licking their lips.

Definitely recommend for anyone looking to diversify their dinner plates.

We’ve tried quite a few of the recipes in here and they are so delicious!!! I absolutely love the collection and variety that’s in here, and will want a physical copy to add to my cookbook collection. I’ve told so many of my vegan friends to hunt a copy down!

Natural Flava is a lovely book full of plant-based Caribbean cookery.

This book is divided into seven main chapters:
- give thanks
- snacks & bites
- feel good
- curries & stews
- family and sharing
- fired up
- sides, salads & sauces
- desserts

Most of the recipes come with full colour photography, measurements are in metric terms, and the instructions are simple to follow. Each recipe also comes with an introduction and gives the number of portions it makes.

There are plenty of recipes to try: I'd certainly like to try cooking the Vegan shepherds pie, a giant patty and Rasta Pumpkin pasta to start with. I like that it's a great way to try Caribbean food alongside a plant-based diet.

I received this book from Netgalley in return for an honest review.

Love to read cookbooks on a cuisine I barely know anything about. Pretty pictures, great grapics. Lovely cookbook.

To be honest I'm quite unfamiliar with plant based cooking but adored this, it's made me excited to try out the recipes and expand my palette.

Oh this book! I have been veggie less than a year but it gets tough thinking of new things to try anyway without the restrictions sometimes found with a meat-free diet. This book is delicious and creative and so good to have for lots of yummy ideas!

Rastafarian vegan cookery, a winner for me. Some of the recipes are easier than others, and I will attempt those recipes first, possibly
moving on to the other recipes. As the authors say, this is not only a cookbook for vegans though, anyone who loves good food will enjoy it, as I did. I discovered a lot of little gems of Rastafarian belief and language, such as the meaning of tallawah, which is strength.

Absolutely incredible, the boys are back and I didn’t think it was possible for them to top their first book…but they have. Mouthwatering Caribbean inspired fusion cuisine from start to finish, I am looking forward to cooking so many of the recipes tucked within, the ramen looks especially unreal.
A great pick up for the committed vegan that wants to bring some Caribbean sunshine to their plate or the vegan curious that want to experiment with some new flavours, simply stunning.
