Commander is the 10th book in the Jack Lark series, and whilst remaining an enjoyable and easy read, the series is beginning to feel tired.

In this book, we follow an ever grumpier Jack Lark on a journey into the unexplored depths of Africa, facing off against ivory and slave traders.

One of the great things about the series is the fact that each book is set in a different corner of the world. However I feel that the stories themselves are starting to feel too similar, too easy to predict. That’s not to say they aren’t enjoyable, however if the series is to go on much longer, I feel Collard needs to change the recipe and upset the apple cart a bit in future books.
