This is such a lovely, magical, festive read. The setting in Finland is gorgeous and the Author describes it so well that you can imagine that you are there.
I loved the characters a lot.

Fantastic Festive Read, such a warm, hilarious and moving book.

Set in beautiful Finland the author takes you on authentic tours with huskies, magical reindeer rides and to find the main man himself Santa Claus in his hidden cabin in the woods. The only problem is Christmas is Myla’s least favourite time of year and usually avoids it at all costs.

I love the friendship that blooms with Myla’s room mate Esteri and her plan buddy Josh who just happens to be a very cute but annoying elf who is to be in character at all times.

Beautifully written the author takes you on a journey through Myla’s best and worst Christmas memories. The author approaches mental health and alcoholism with care and sensitivity whilst still keeping the book warm and comforting.

A fabulous read, I recommend curling up with a hot chocolate and an army of gingerbread men.

A Winter In Wonderland is a friends to lovers romance set in Lapland. It’s told
In a first person POV. Myla is the least festive person in the uk. Every year around Christmas something bad happens to her. After she loses a bet with her sister shay she is forced to take a job in Lapland as an adventure guide welcoming tourists to Santas Village.

Overall I’ve loved reading this story. It’s got plenty of funny moments and is the perfect festive romance to curl up on the sofa with. I loved the characters especially Esteri, she’s a strong character who tells it like it is, I think Myla needed a friend like her. It’s a wonderful slow burn romance full of Christmas magic. I loved the setting of the book, the snow, the huskies and the reindeer, the northern lights, the descriptions are wonderful and make you feel like you’re there.

This was a fun and light-hearted festive read filled with Christmas spirit, Reindeer, snow, Huskies and so much more. I adored Myla and her dry sense of humour; her inner monologue was hilarious and reminded me of myself at times, saying sarcastic things in my head. I loved watching her embrace the beautiful Christmas wonderland, albeit reluctantly at first. And it really did sound beautiful with the authors wonderful descriptions. I could almost feel myself there in Finland, enjoying a bowl of rice porridge with the rest of the team.

For someone that strongly dislikes Christmas, Myla is well and truly out of her comfort zone but this proves to be essential to helping her move on from past experiences and live in the present rather than assuming that something bad will always happen at Christmas. Esteri, Myla's roomate, plays a huge role in this journey of self discovery with her bluntness and outlook on life. Esteri and Myla's friendship was one of the most enjoyable parts of this book and I also found myself invested in Esteri's life and secretly (fingers crossed) hoping for a sequel focusing on her.

Of course there was also the Romance with Josh which was incredibly sweet and just what you want in a Christmas story really. For me the Romance actually took a back seat to the more important issues of Myla's past experiences of Christmas and whether or not she'd find the strength to overcome them.

Overall this was a lovely festive romance with relatable and loveable characters. I'll be looking out for more books by Isla Gordon.

So sad Myla hated Christmas . She could not settle in a job. I loved how her sister sent her to Lapland and she found love and got over her fear of Christmas . It was great how the elves kept in character.. Her room mate was amazing and I loved the secret sauna. A jolly good read

Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for an early review copy.

Myla doesn’t like Christmas, as around that time bad things have always happened in her life. So, she wants absolutely nothing to do with the festive season, even if it means being out of a job.

Her sister, has a bet with her, one, that if she loses, she’ll have to take the job she’s put Myla through for. Of course, she loses, and so she’s on her way to the Arctic Circle, Finland, working as a helper in welcoming tourists coming to see Santa's a winter wonderland.

Myla has to spend ten weeks in below freezing temperatures, in days that are almost dark and having to be in the Christmas spirit. But, it’s not all bad, at Santa Claus's Village, she never expected to fall for someone, especially one who’s playing Santa’s elf, and into the Christmas spirit the whole time.

I loved Esteri, who let you know what she thought about things up front. Their friendship was so lovely to see. Reading about why Myla hated Christmas, her finding a way to come to terms with that and not let it change her views of the now was nice and could be related to.

A beautiful setting and I loved reading about the snowmobiles, the huskies and reindeers. As well as the northern lights.

So, does Myla, along with a little love under the Northern Lights feel that her luck might have changed?

A relaxing, magical story that leaves you feeling festive.

Recommend this book.

As someone who has been a little anti-Christmas the past couple of years, I got where Myla (I love that name!) was coming from. But after reading this book, I'm going to try and be more Esteri and Josh. No spoilers, I promise, but there is plenty of simple festive spirit in this wonderful story that I plan on enjoying. Loved it!

I’ve been enjoying Isla Gordon’s books (including those written under other names) for many years now, so I was thrilled to receive a copy of A Winter in Wonderland.

I loved the setting of this story. I loved reading about the snowmobiles, reindeer, huskies, northern lights, snow, and everything else that makes this a wintery paradise.

The characters were great. I particularly loved Esteri, she was very up front about how she felt about things. The friendship between her and Myla was my favourite thing about this book. I also enjoyed Myla’s story, how she gradually realised not everything about Christmas is bad, and learned to put her past in its proper place.

Overall, this was a lovely, relaxing read, full of Christmas magic. Perfect to get you feeling festive.

I was given a free copy of this book, my opinions are my own.

Myla doesn't like Christmas after bad things have happened over the years during the Christmas period so she does everything possible to avoid having anything to do with it.
After losing her job and having to leave her flat as the landlord wants to redecorate she goes to her sister who is in recruitment to ask for a job as a last resort. The job she is offered is exactly what she doesn't want as a helper in Santas village in Lapland where it is Christmas everyday ! Myla tries to refuse but ends up losing a bet with her heavily pregnant sister and ends up going
Can the lure of snow and the possibility of seeing the Northern lights make her change her mind ?
Brilliant read, really enjoyed it

A winter Wonderland looked so gorgeous from the outside and it was no different from the inside.
Premise
Myla is the UK's least-festive woman. Starting the year she found out the truth about Santa Claus, everything bad that's ever happened to her occurs around Christmas. Nowadays, she wants nothing to do with this time of year, so of course she would lose the bet with her sister and be forced to put herself forward for a seasonal job in Lapland, welcoming tourists to Santa's winter wonderland for the holidays.

Ten weeks, temperatures well below freezing, days that are mostly dark, and the need to stay brimming with Christmas spirit doesn't fill Myla with joy as she heads off to the arctic circle for winter in Finland. But as she discovers that Lapland is more than Santa Claus's Village, the very last person she ever thought she'd fall for turns out to be a man who plays an Elf, and who is bound to stay in character at all times.

Will a little love under the Northern Lights convince Myla that her bad luck might finally have come to an end?

It almost reminded me of that Christmas movie with Emilia Clarke.. it was so lovely to follow Mylas journey throughout thr book and see her evolve from absolutely hating the holidays to loving them and finding love along the way.
