Wow-what a page turner-such a clever plot. Intriguing, suspenseful action-packed. Fast-paced, although totally unbelievable. Recommended.

DNF this one. Was not my favorite book and just couldn’t get into the characters. I saw the reviews were in between so I though I would give it a try.

Now this was a strange one because whilst it was a rather unbelievable storyline and it took me a while to really get in to it, once it did WOW!

This was a really tense, exhilarating thriller that I read in one sitting and would highly recommend reading this in a short timeframe if possible to get the full impact of what the author is trying to convey.

Kate Harding is invited to an interview to take place at 5pm on a Friday evening and set on the 13th floor in an ultra modern office block.

Once the interview gets underway the questions being asked start to get more awkward and strange and Kate starts to wonder what the hell she has got herself into.

Both main characters, Kate and Joel are expertly written and easily come to life in your imagination.

Who would have thought that a whole storyline could be based around one interview that lasts a matter of hours? Somehow C.M Ewan has not only ,managed to do it bit make it exciting and explosive at the same time.

The short and sharp chapters keep you turning the page, promising yourself just one more chapter but unable to put it down.

A fantastic read that I have happily recommended on already.

Thank you to netgalley and Pan Macmillan for the ARC.

The Interview is fast paced and action packed, two key ingredients to make a good thriller! It was a really easy read for me because of this and also due to the chapters being short and snappy, which is something I love in a book.

The word implausible definitely springs to mind when considering the plot and the events that unfold but it was an enjoyable ride nevertheless! The concept is original, the actual story is well-written and I was full of intrigue until the end.

Really struggled with this book. Found it difficult to connect.
Is Kate turning up for an interview for her dream job or a nightmare
Many thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to see an ARC

I really enjoyed this book as I was very intrigued to know what was going on a why, and how her husband came in to it all. However, this book did drag slightly and I feel it could have been wrapped up quicker without the filler chapters

I was left a little bit disappointed by this book. I found the first half the book a bit of a slog to get into. The second half was better but for me it wasn’t anything ground breaking.

A breakneck paced cat-and-mouse escape thriller. Kate Harding has an interview for her dream job in media PR that soon turns into a nightmare. Full of twists and turns, the suspense and tension ramp up to a brilliant climax.

I received an ARC of this book thanks to NetGalley and publisher Pan Macmillan in exchange for an honest review.

Interviews are scary business and I was actually inspired to request this book after a friend of mine went through a particularly gruelling set of 15-odd interviews for a single job. I loved the idea of an interview setting for a thriller and, in terms of that premise, this didn't disappoint.

The Interview is the story of Kate, a woman who shows up for a job interview but quickly realises things are not quite what they seem. She is immediately told she will be interviewed by a strange man rather than the person she'd been expecting, and when the questions begin, they are not the typical interview questions. What happens after that is a mix of corporate thriller and interpersonal cat-and-mouse tension.

As far as thrillers go, this was a decent one. Earlier on in the book, you are not quite sure what is going on and I think that's when the writing shines best. There is a good sense of unease throughout and you're never quite sure whether Kate is really in danger. Unfortunately the main plot didn't super appeal to me but that is a matter of personal taste in thrillers. I felt things escalated fairly quickly and then that level of urgency struggled to be maintained throughout.

Overall, I definitely admire this thriller for doing something new. I think the general premise is fantastic and it stands out among a sea of domestic/similarly-plotted thrillers. The plot wasn't hugely to my personal taste but it's definitely worth checking out if you like the idea of an interview setting.

Overall Rating: 3.5/5 stars

Called in to interview for a top job, a woman soon finds herself trapped in an office after hours, unable to escape, while her interviewer demands answers from her that she can't give him. The story becomes a tense escape thriller as she tries to get out of the building or call for help, as well as uncovering what exactly the whole thing is about. At times the story seems a bit unlikely, and the villain only needs a moustache to twirl and a cape to swirl for him to become pure melodrama, but it's action-packed, tense and exciting right up until the end.

With thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for a copy of this book in return for an honest review.

I love Chris Ewan's writing and I loved the book of his I previously read, but I was unable to connect with The Interview. I know that's not the review you want to read and I apologise. The writing was flawless, it was probably a case of wrong book, wrong time, I'm afraid. I do look forward to future books.

Because I didn't connect with it, I have not shared my views anywhere other than here. I don't think it's the right thing to do. I only share when I love a book.

This is a book guaranteed to keep you up all night. You will need to devour page after page in just one sitting. This book has blown my mind!!

This book has both given me goosebumps and made my heart pound. I have felt the chills as I’ve turned page after page desperate to know how this was going to play out.

I have loved Kate, she has been a genuine character from the beginning. Initially, I was unsure what was going on but as events have unfolded, this has been a superb read.

This is written in such a way I have felt as though I have been watching this unfold in front of me. This has transported me and I have lived guessing where this was going to go. This has been unpredictable and a complete rollercoaster.

This is filled with twists and turns. Characters to love and hate. This is unlike any book I’ve read previously and I have loved every last moment.

I have no doubt that this will be a popular book and it’s definitely one I’ll be recommending.

I enjoyed this book, at first I did think it was a little bizarre but then I found that I just had to keep on reading as I needed to see how it ended! Brilliantly written.

I found the story fast paced and sometimes unbelievable at times but still a thrilling read.

Kate is going for an interview for a dream job. She can’t believe her luck. Her recruitment agent, Maggie is rooting for her. It’s the big break she needs.

Her interview is at 5pm and when she arrives it’s only her and the interviewer, a guy called Joel. She seems slightly ill at ease its only the pair of them left in the office. He’s been tasked to ask generic interview questions but also find out the truth, which is something Kate is unable to explain. As the questions become more probing and the situation crazier by the minute she realises she needs to find a way out…

An un-put-downable edge of the seat read which was breathtakingly good!

If this were a film, it would be something like Speed (Keanu Reeves on the bus) or the series 24, the real(ish) time drama with Kiefer Sutherland. Only here, the protagonist is female, and the beginning a little more pedestrian. Kate goes for interview, and all seems so normal - mundane, in fact, down to the pat descriptions of the glass and steel building, the modern lobby with sky-high ceilings and the last minute nerves regarding some slight padding on her CV. All changes, of course, when she gets upstairs and the questioning begins. What follows is a pounding, high speed cat and mouse game in which no-one comes away unscathed. Towards the end, I found myself losing interest a little - the lack of emotional depth to the characters and the guess-ability of the plot had its toll. Nonetheless, on the whole an engaging and throttle-neck thriller.

My thanks to NetGalley and Pan MacMillan for a copy of “ The Interview” for an honest review.

I really enjoyed the beginning of this book and was intrigued to how things would pan out .
It was full of suspense and action , but things seemed to drag on and I’m afraid to say I lost interest,, and skimmed through the latter part of the story.
I really wanted to like the book but on reflection I can only give it an average score.

There are some good interview tips in this book. At the start, anyway, then it turns into the worst interview ever. Some unusual psychometric questions are quickly followed by a disappearing interviewer. Except he hasn't disappeared at all, he is watching as the interviewee tries to get out of a locked room.

This is a fast and tense thriller with few characters. It is written mainly from the first person point of view of the interviewee, with a few chapters from other characters in the third person. However, the attempts to escape from the locked building did go on for a very long time and it is a bit too much.

An original premise and brilliant opening. A great read for those who like 'cat and mouse' type of thrillers.

A good start to this thriller and the premise was interesting. However, the slow pace of the narrative failed to grip me. The ending was a let down and a disappointment.
