Oh I love Claire Frost and this was such a great read, you'll need tissues and you'll need to massage your cheeks from the smiles it induces. It's mindful, emotional and very engaging. Brilliant story, recommended.

I must firstly apologise for the amount of time it has taken me to provide a review of this book, my health was rather bad for quite some time, something that had me in hospital on numerous occasions and simply didnt leave me with the time I once had to do what I love most.

Unfortunately that does mean I have missed the archive date for many of these books, so It would feel unjust throwing any review together without being able to pay attention to each novel properly.

However, I am now back to reading as before and look forward to sharing my honest reviews as always going forward. I thank you f0r the patience and understanding throughout x

Lottie thinks she’s found the one, the love of her life but after a short time he leaves her in the worst way possible. Knowing what the storyline is it becomes instantly predictable which is a shame and spoilt what could have been a great book. It’s shorter on the romance than it is with the three sisters who came across as perfect, too perfect. It covers grief very well. If someone wants to read a poignant love story then this is The One for them!

Lottie believes she has finally met The One, even though she has only known Leo 3 months she feels certain he is the man she will spend the rest of her life with.
Tragically Leo dies and Lottie doesn't know how to cope, slowly she begins to learn Leo may not have been as perfect as he seems.
I really enjoyed this book and would recommend.

I enjoyed reading this book and thought it was beautifully written. When Lottie loses the love of her life, Leo, just a few months after meeting him, she doesn't know how she will carry on. With support of her friends and also his friends, she is able to look at both her life and his which helps her to learn to live again. This story is written in the present day but also looks at the time leading up to Lottie and Leo meeting him. It being written like this means that we can really get to know both characters well.

This was an interesting read. Lottie finds Leo “the one “ and three months into their relationship, Lottie is happier than she has ever been . Tragically Leo dies and Lottie is left berefit .
The story is a dual timeline . The past where Lottie and Leo’s relationship is explored and the present where Lottie learns to live again , whilst still learning about facets of Leo’s life which she had no idea about .
This story has many twists and the author deals with them sensitively.
It is a beautifully written book, I really enjoyed the relationship between Lottie and her sisters
Highly Recommended

I initially thought this was going to be a run of the mill romance but the story went in another direction completely with the following themes of loss, grief and betrayal but also hope, compassion and love. My heart went out to Lottie as she basked in the glowing warmth that only a new relationship can bring until it was cruelly snatched away from her. I would have preferred some more of the love story between Lottie and Leo although it makes sense and was symbolic that that part was cut short.

The relationship between Lottie and her sisters Emily and Annie was depicted beautifully and I really liked their unwavering support of each other. I absolutely loved the setting of Oxford, it’s such a beautiful city and that shone through in this book.

The One, while somewhat predictable, is a nice and easy story that would make for a good holiday read.

Thanks to Simon and Schuster UK and Netgalley for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This book was fab! There was so much depth to it that I really struggled to put it down. On first glance, we have a book about - as per the title - finding The One. Our protagonist thinks she has met the man she is meant to be with, which instantly questions the theory of finding ’The One’ and whether they exist. But what you assume is going to be a romance novel carries a plot with much more structure and depth and it was a pleasure to read.

For me this book was about finding yourself and in turn learning about yourself. Our main character Lottie clearly struggles throughout the book - with where she’s at in life compared to others, with her relationships with others and with herself and this book is full of character development where Lottie learns things about herself and learns how to overcome things that hold her back. Her progression throughout the book is so moving and I feel its also so truthful.. I think there are a lot of people who feel like Lottie but are too afraid to admit it. Afraid to admit they feel like everyone else is doing life right when they feel left behind.

I also found this book so heavily family orientated and this also became so raw and emotional. Lottie has such a strong connection to her family and I think people can forget how strong family bonds can be and how family are always there for you in times of need.

This is a fantastic book that I think will be widely enjoyed and one that I think will allow people to look into the deeper meaning of its story. This is definitely one to add to your TBR!

Such an emotional read. I really enjoyed this, although my heart broke so many times. Claire is one of my favourite authors and I can’t wait to see what she writes next

This was the first book I have read by Claire Frost and it was a good story.
What I really liked was the relationship between Lottie and her sisters; the easy and sweet relationship between Lottie and Leo, despite its brevity; the hope and the difficulties of moving on and past the tragedy. The emotional journey that Lottie went on throughout the book was very realistic and uplifting.
Although it was an emotional read, I found it a bit repetitive for the a lot of the book, which dropped my rating half a star. But in the final 25% of the book, the pace picked up and the story unravelled clearing up some questions I had.
I will definitely be reading more books by this author.
I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest and independent review.

The One by Claire Frost

I received an advance review copy for free thanks to NetGalley and Simon and Schuster UK and I am leaving this review voluntarily

Lottie Brown has finally found The One. Leo is everything she’s ever wanted – he’s handsome, kind, funny and totally gets her. Three months into their relationship, Lottie is in love and happier than ever before.

But then Leo tragically dies, and Lottie is left floundering.

As she struggles to stop her life falling apart, Lottie learns more about the man she thought she knew, and starts to question whether Leo really was as perfect as he seemed…

This book is told in a dual timeline - before and after the death of Leo. We get to see how special their relationship was and how Leo's death impacted Lottie. A sad but uplifting tale that shows the strength of family and friendship. I think this is the first book I have had to put down and take a break from the rollercoaster of emotions I experienced reading this.

Rating 4/5

I struggled with this book. I do like to mix my genres and sometimes I read a book that I would not normally choose and it works, and sometimes unfortunately it just doesn't. I loved the sound of this book, but unfortunately I just didn't really connect with it .Bear in mind it is my fault most probably for asking to read a book outside my usual genres of thrillers, and urban fantasy or sci fi, and other readers who enjoy this genre may well appreciate it more than I did.

Claire Frost has broken my heart, taken every little broken piece and glued it back together slowly with this absolute gorgeous gem. I’m sat with tears as I try to coherently write a review for this gorgeous read.

Lottie is a character with so much more strength than I could ever imagine. She has found her one, her person, her happy ever after. Only to receive news that he has passed away. Lottie is so likeable and realistic. I have loved her from the very first page.

This is filled with so much emotion and love. As a reader, you want more for Lottie but you also experience her emotions as you read this one.

I love the relationships and the way Frost has put everything together with this one. This is a complete gem and an absolute must for the TBR. This is definitely a book I will be recommending to everyone.

A heart-breaking tale of loss, grief and putting the pieces of a life not quite lived together again.

This book bits hard in your emotions, you can feel the raw pain felt by Lottie and how she gets lost in the loss of Leo but the ultimate loss of what could have been.
She finally finds the man of her dreams, after years of seeing her sisters lives come together and already being let down by a man she loved, but that happiness is short lived.

I won't say more about the plot but this is a story of rediscovering life, living it for you and not others. You see how to appreciate what you have and not to compare yourself to others.

I liked Lottie, I empathised with her. I know loss and grief, I've experienced losing the one you love. My heart broke for her as I understood. I empathised but I was equally willing her to move forward, see what she did have and what she was capable of. She makes mistakes and sometimes her attitude stinks. I loved the bond between her and her sisters, a really lovely touch. Closer than friends and that means being able to be absolutely honest and know, deep down, they will always be there.

I read through this is no time; I didn't anticipate massive twists and turns, but I got a powerful and emotive story full of heart and soul.

Thank you Team BATC and Claire Frost for the opportunity to read and take part on the blog tour

Oh wow, I did not read the synopsis of this book going in and so what happened within the first few pages took me completely off guard! This book reminded me of a classic Paige Toon novel wrapped up with the storytelling and heart of Miranda Dickinson. I adored every moment of it and I couldn’t wait to get in my car in the mornings and keep listening on my commute!

Lottie is a great character to spend this book with because she wears her heart on her sleeve. She is passionate about herself and her relationships, particularly her relationships with her sisters. It was such a pleasure to read about a character who is so passionate and about a character who actually has a good relationship with her family. It was a real treat. The other reason Lottie is so great to read about is because she is really relatable. She doesn’t have it all together and she doesn’t pretend to. She is fine with her job but it could be better; she is unlucky in love and she knows that she sometimes drinks too much and is guilty of the hangover fake sick call to work. I just loved this about her!

This book deals with death and this book deals with some baby loss and so you definitely need to use care and caution going in but I do think that these massive topics are dealt with as part of the story in a sensitive way and yet in a way that shows that these things are part of life and that beautiful things can also come out of them. It is rare to find a book that explores such passionate love in this way without that passion turning into pure lust and so I loved that about it. I laughed at points and I cried along with the audiobook. I loved all of the themes explored through these three sisters and I loved getting to know Lottie. She is definitely a character I would like to hear more from and I would love to know what happens to her in the future!

This is a beautiful book about love, grief, friendship and family. I really enjoyed the flashbacks at the beginning of the book, that showed the relationship blossoming between Leo and Lottie. I felt the story really needed these happier chapters to break up sadness of the book.

The way the book was written felt quite raw and full of emotion. I felt I really understood Lottie's grief and all the emotions she was struggling to deal with I felt with her. This book pulled on my heartstrings so much. The characters are so lovable everyone needs sisters like Em and Annie, they are there for Lottie to help her through the tough times, encouraging her to move on and find love somewhere else and they cheer her on to be the best person she can possibly be.

I enjoyed seeing the friendship between Ross and Lottie blossom, I found it quite comforting that they found a friendship in such a sad part of their lives. The fact that they both knew Leo in very different ways was nice so they could share their own stories to each other. This book was easy to read I found myself getting lost within the pages and loosing track of time. I would highly recommend this book.
