Excellent but heartbreaking story - lots of twists and turns but managed to keep my at the edge of my seat!

I thought the plot here was a promising one but something about the book left me cold. I think it was probably due to the fact that I couldn't warm to any of the characters. The final dénouement was no big surprise either so while I couldn't really say exactly what I didn't like, I don't think I would read any more of the author's work

If you can keep up, you’ll enjoy this story. Told in Then and Now fashion, things twist together and turn until the very end. Will you see it coming?

This book was suspenseful, compelling and utterly heartbreaking. I felt all the emotions of the characters, I didn't see the ending coming and I was so invested I couldn't put it down. What a fantastic read!

Totally gripping and completely thrilling, this is hands down one of the best books I’ve read so far this year. So many twists and turns and I still didn’t guess the ending! Absolutely brilliant.

Generally I love this author and all of her works. This book was good but I just found it wasn't as memorable as her other books.

The characters were the highlight.

Emma-Jayne, twelve years old, had been arrested for murder. The murder of her stepfather, Robert Griffin. She had been sexually and physically abused by her stepfather. Her mother point-blank refused to believe her claims about the abuse. I thought that maybe her mother was in shock or perhaps denial. Called her a liar, an attention seeker. She even went as far as to make a formal statement against Emma-Jayne, claiming that her daughter couldn’t be trusted. How sad is that?

She wouldn’t talk about what had happened to her. And she wouldn’t talk about the murder either. She claimed from the very start that she hadn’t committed the murder at all. That her friend, Sarah had been the one to kill him.

The judge had declared her unfit to stand trial. Instead, she was admitted to a secure psychiatric unit for treatment. She was there for almost six years, and in that time, she had been obsessed with talking about her weird, distorted dreams that she often had, about Sarah and this doll that they found together.

But after twenty years, someone sent a wreath and a dead rat, intentionally just rammed her off the road, and threw the brick through the window to make her paranoid again. She needs an answer. She went to the crime scene. Maybe, after all this time it would give her some kind of closure?

Personal rating 4.5 ⭐

I am a huge fan of Casey Kelleher books and was looking forward to the latest one however I have to be totally honest and say this wasn't one of my favourites by this author. It is absolutely NOT a bad book it's just a slight departure from her normal type of storyline.

The story is based around Alessia who is married to Carl and has a young son Jacob. Alessia is extremely happy with her life until a brick through the window with a note saying 'I Found You' kicks off the start of some awful things happening. Alessia is convinced its her old school friend Sarah.

It is hard to be very specific about the book without inevitable spoiling it for people so I will say little about the actual storyline. However, what I will say is that the narrative is split between now and then which although it works, just didn't have the same flow as previous books have had.

I think this book is definitely a great psychological thriller and it's certainly well written however for me I just didn't gel with the story or characters like I normally do with this authors books .

Complex thriller with lots of twists and surprises. Good characters and interesting storyline ,full of detail. Better towards the end.

A great psychological thriller using two of my favorite devices: an unreliable narrator and dual timelines. The flow of the story was great, and it was well-written. The surprise twists did a nice job of keeping my attention.

Oh, this is a good one! I thought I had it all figured out but I was caught off guard with the twist. You know a thriller is good when your guesses are wrong and catches you by surprise.

This story has a dual timeline between the past and present which follows Alessia, a 32 year-old mom of a toddler, Jacob and married to a wonderful husband, Carl. Alessia seemed to have everything she wants in her life right now as she tries leaving her past behind. Alessia is reminded of her past when odd incidents begin to happen that sends her on a downward spiral. She is slowly finding it hard to keep her life and thoughts together. Alessia blamed everything on Emma-Jayne as fragments of her past comes back to haunt her. Who is Emma-Jayne and what has she done? What is Alessia afraid of?

I can’t give too much away but there is so much to say about what Alessia went through in her past. More interesting is how our brains help us cope with trauma and lies we feed ourselves in order to believe we are safe. The writing is filled with tension and although I didn’t know what was happening at first, I was still hooked enough to continue reading. There was a point in the book where I started to doubt Alessia’s sanity and it added more edge to the plot because I didn’t know who I was rooting for.

Thank you Netgalley and Bookouture for the arc! I am glad I got approved for this.

Ill Never Tell is a gripping, touching thriller which I'm glad to say I didn't predict the ending of. Fast pace and a simple, yet impactful plot which offers several of the best twists I've read in a few years

What a well-written read. It kept me hooked from the first chapter.
As the book proceeds the story slowly unfolds and the guessing begins and then the self-doubt in what you have guessed begins.
It keeps you enthralled until the end where everything is laid out. Well worth reading with great characters and a good storyline.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this book.

Married to Carl and mother to Jacob, Alessia is shocked when one night a brick comes flying through the living room window with a note, reminding her she can never run from her past. Sinister events keep happening and Alessia knows she's in danger. After building a new life and identity and keeping her past hidden from Carl, she has no choice but to figure out who is doing these things to her. But as she relives her past not only is she battling this unknown person, but she's also wrestling with her mind what's real and what's not.

I thought this was a really good read. Told between then and now, the story is about two little girls who play in place called the Doll House. When a tragedy occurs, Alessia is the one who is blamed. Now years later Carl has no idea who she really is or what she did. With the past coming back with a vengeance, she has no choice but to fight it on her own. With so many twists I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more from this author.

Thank you Netgalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read this book.

Casey Kelleher is one of my all time favourite authors, and this was so incredibly different from anything I have ever read from her, but in the best way possible!

So gripping and the writing had me from the very first page, it kept me reading until the sun came up again. The twist and turns were everything I needed from a thriller novel, and I was guessing the whole way through.

I will buy this novel physically as I know that I will want to read it again!

Very grateful for the ARC.

I'll Never Tell by Casey Kelleher was my first read from this author, and I can safely say that this is a new to me author who is one to watch. If you are looking for a pacey and suspenseful thriller that will keep you turning the pages long into the night, then look no further.

Twenty years ago, Alessia and her friend Sarah did something that, according to Sarah, was a terrible accident. But it is Alessia alone who has paid the price. Now, she has created a life for herself with a husband and son, and has a brand new identity. But someone is not willing to leave the past in the past, and they know exactly who Alessia is, and where she is hiding in plain sight. Someone has never forgotten that fateful day in the woods, and they are certainly not willing to forgive.

This is a brilliantly crafted novel that will propel you through an altogether addictive narrative with delicious tension. Recommended. 4.5 stars

Many thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for an ARC.
