A gentle summer read which at times has a Mills & Boon style of writing, particularly when describing how the two main characters make each other feel... Anyway, it is redeemed by a good story with a beautiful setting which makes you want to move to France..

Nice gentle read..which I enjoyed. A bit predictable....cold efficient Daisy and gorgeous grumpy Gabriel. Daisy had inherited a house in Provence and has plans to renovate it and use as an exclusive holiday let.. Local Gabriel thinks it should be his and would prefer it be sympathetically restored and used as a home. Where is the missing will and who does it actually belong to? A good easy beach read...and I would be happy to read others by this author but not a wow of a book!

3.5 stars. Like other Sophie Claire books, now after reading I have the urge to go visit Provence and one day it will happen. I loved the community feel of the book and the opposite attracts trope. Though I felt at points it was predictable and I did still have questions after I finished. I really enjoyed it and am so glad I got the opportunity to read it before release.

What a fabulous book!!

I loved feeling like I was a bystander watching tue chemistry develop between Daisy & Gabriel.

A really well structured book, I was transported to France, I could almost feel the beautiful sunshine on my face, lovely especially as I’m reading this during the wet winter.

I would recommend this to all my friends… Bravo Sophie Clare

5 stars from me

A reasonably good Romance novel if rather predicable in places, but if you want some warm sunshine colours bringing into your Grey weather days than this Book is for You! #FB, #Instagram,#Amazon.co.uk,#Goodreads,#NetGalley , #<img src="https://www.netgalley.com/badge/358a5cecda71b11036ec19d9f7bf5c96d13e2c55" width="80" height="80" alt="100 Book Reviews" title="100 Book Reviews"/>, #<img src="https://www.netgalley.com/badge/ef856e6ce35e6d2d729539aa1808a5fb4326a415" width="80" height="80" alt="Reviews Published" title="Reviews Published"/>, #<img src="https://www.netgalley.com/badge/aa60c7e77cc330186f26ea1f647542df8af8326a" width="80" height="80" alt="Professional Reader" title="Professional Reader"/>!

I loved this so much! Its a real feel good summer read with great characters and story. We meet Daisy as she has inherited a house in France from a family member she didn't know she had. Work on the property is very slow going as it seems, locally, it was common knowledge there was a will where the house was left to Gabriel. Daisy needs Gabriel to work on the house but they are at odds over the future of the property. Daisy wants an ultra modern holiday home. Gabriel promised the owner he would look after it... which does not include drastic modernisation! Gabriel and Daisy are strong characters used to getting their own way.... but when what they want are complete opposites its going to get interesting!

Daisy has had a hard childhood - even as she comes to appreciate life in Provence, she is still influenced by her past. She doesn't believe in love... but can she overcome her past to let love in when it finds her??!! Gabriel on the other hand is a true romantic and knows exactly what he wants!

I just loved this book - Gabriel is an amazing character- confident, sexy, funny and determined. Daisy is a complex character and behind the hard exterior her vulnerability becomes obvious and I was desperately hoping she could overcome these issues and know herself better! Gabriel's friends are just lovely too. I feel like I know these people!

This is a lovely book that still tackles some big issues including parental death, suicide and emotional neglect but it's all done so sensitively - we see and feel the impact without dwelling on the events themselves. Its a book about friendship, hope and family - including the family you make, not just the one you are born with.

Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read this romantic novel. An easy read and for me personally, some wonderfully provoking chapters on the lead character's relationship with her Father. This digression isn't the main thrust of the book, but does add some depth to the connection played out between Daisy and Gabriel. Fairly predictable, but engaging enough for you to read through to the end and the interaction between Gabriel and his friends in the village often prompt a smile.
High flying professional woman with limited social skills inherits a property that the local builder believes should rightfully have been his. The construction gentleman, with an easy going manner struggles to comprehend the drive to complete the renovations in a timely manner dictated by his employer.... and so the story begins and unfolds between the pages.

Fabulous Sunny Read!

This book will brighten up any dull day. It’s the perfect pick me up summer read.

Escape to Provence does exactly what the title says. You are whisked away to the beautiful French countryside.

The story between Daisy and Gabriel is loaded with special moments. I love the dynamic between the two and how this shifts and develops throughout the story.

The food will have your mouth watering and dreaming of delicious dishes.

A fabulous read which will have you reading well into the wee hours.

An Escape to Provenance is set in rural France, where cynical Daisy Jackson has inherited an old run down farmhouse from a long lost relative. Set on a quick trip, she pushes for builder Gabriel Laforet to hurry up so she can return to her hectic lifestyle. Gabriel has other ideas, as he attempts to find the missing will giving him the house.

I thoroughly enjoyed this novel (enough to stay up to 4 am finishing it) I quickly became hooked and could not put it down. Sophie Claire has written a beautiful novel. She creates a beautiful story in Provence, a stunning area known for it's cicadas, lavender fields and views. My only complaint is that I feel that the ending lacked some depth and was over far too quickly.

I received an advanced copy of shortbread shakedown from netgalley for review.

This was truly lovely read. The setting in Provence sounded idyllic away from the hustle and bustle of city life. To inherit a property in this wonderful location sounded fabulous. It kept me on the edge of my seat wondering if the will would ever be found and what would happen if Gab ever did find it. So many secrets and things to find out about each other. A wonderful heart warming romance about love and trust. Loved it.

Daisy a career woman knows what’s she wants inherits this house so chaos will ensue! Love the relationship between her and her builder and the other characters whom make the story too. An easy and enjoyable read.

A pleasant story set in Provence .Daisy was a career woman who had a tough childhood and inherited a house . She wanted it done quickly but her builder had other ideas.. His childhood was also troubled . It was a slow read. Perfect ending . The town were all kind to Daisy.when she was ill. Just too predictable but it did have a happy ending

A delightful story conjuring up the essence of Provence - I could smell the lavender with romance a bonus.
I have made yoghurt cake for years and the description of this brought back so many memories. I really enjoyed this book

I was drawn to the title because I am planning a trip to Provence next year. A little added romance would be fine. However I got no feeling of it actually being set there in spite of the fact the author has spent time there. It could have been pretty well anywhere in France, with added crickets.

The romance is fine, it’s pretty well constructed although a bit repetitive. For someone who loves romance in a nice rural setting, it would make a good escape for a day or two.

A wonderful book to escape with to the South of France. The description of all those wonderful French senses transported me across the Channel making me yearn to return. A good plot, although a little predictable and somewhat filled with frustrating misunderstandings and non communication. I did eventually warm to the main character, Daisy, initially an extremely prickly, killer heeled London career girl with serious relationship issues. Daisy softens as she becomes enchanted by a slower pace of life and more involved with the people in the area, particularly Gabriel. Definitely a book to cosy up with on a dank day and long for summer days.

This was a really great read! I love renovation type novels and a enemies to lovers type romance! It had that city girl/county boy vibe and I loved that as well! Very cute read, good character development, snappy dialogue, and beautiful scenery what more could a person want!

Very upbeat story. Funny thing is that I've been reading up on neuroplasticity and indeed, it can take six weeks up to six months for you brain to rewire: undoing old habits and learning new ones such as Daisy (Day-zee as Gabriel pronounces it) who goes from being Miss Uptight (not my words) to letting go a bit while being in the Provence for about six weeks.

And what I also appreciated very much was the character Jeanette for being a woman not defined by her reproductive organs!

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for a copy of the book.
