Well I’m a little bit speechless. What an absolutely brilliant book from the beginning, right up to the end!

Set in Ireland it’s about secrets and friendship and how far you’d go for your friends. It’s a fab book and a good psychological thriller that I read in 2 sittings. Can’t wait to read more by this writer!

This was an OK read for me. Not a favourite but still OK. Well written
Thank you to netgalley and the publishers and the author for the opportunity to read this book for my honest opinion

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for approving me for this book.

I felt the writing was done well in this book but there was just something missing for me and I couldn't get into it and enjoy it as much as I hoped I would.

A dark, slow moving crime drama focussing on childhood friendships and loyalty. The story was quite disturbing but it was a competent debut novel.

She and I is a dark tale of friendship, love, family and loyalty.

Keeley and Jude have been friends since they were 4. They come from different backgrounds but are inseparable despite Jude’s mum’s best efforts.

The story centres on New Year’s Eve when keeley’s boyfriend Pete is murdered. What follows is an investigation into who the murderer is. The investigation brings out many dark and nefarious secrets about all involved.

The story was interesting with layers of deceit and dubious motives. I felt the ending was somehow not a good resolution…but maybe the futility of it was fitting?

Loved it, really good fast paced thriller full of twists and turns and had me racing through it to get to the end!! Will look out for more from the author…

I am a sucker for a book based around a dark, twisted friendship and ‘She and I’ did not disappoint. Keeley and Jude have been best friends forever and when Keeley’s boyfriend is found stabbed to death the morning after a New Year’s party the two women make a pact. They agree upon the account they will tell the police but who is really benefiting from their arrangement?
I loved the intensity constructed between these two women and the entire plot felt brilliantly claustrophobic. Keeley and Jude’s shared history is recounted through the book in two distinct voices which I found really easy to read and felt was so well done, especially for a debut novel. I appreciated that King eked out the information across the whodunnit for maximum impact and was riveted from beginning to end. Personally this was a novel that I had high expectations for which were definitely surpassed.

How far will you go for your best friend? It's a question oftern asked. This book delves deep into the heart of the nattet. Great plot and characters. Really engaging.

This isn’t a book just about whodunit - Pete a unsavoury character is stabbed to death after a New Years Eve party, but more a book about relationships and their enduring strengths, and weaknesses. Jude and Keeley have been friends since before primary school, inseparable despite Jude’s Mum’s disapproval. Keeley and her brother, Mack are alone since their single mother died and Mack’s job it to be there for Keeley despite his chaotic lifestyle. I really enjoyed the depiction of the girls’ strong bond and loyalty to each other and although I didn’t particularly like Jude I did empathise with her. I think I would have enjoyed this more if the denouement hadn’t been revealed in the first chapter, thus I’ve had to downgrade this to 4 stars.

Initially the book was a bit slow. I found it hard to get into the story and wasn't sure if it was going to pick up. Thankfully I kept on reading and out of nowhere the story just picked up and had me gripped!
Thank you to Hannah King and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book.

Best friends share everything. But murder is different. Isn’t it?

Keeley and Jude are closer than blood. Inseparable since childhood, they share everything: clothes, secrets, booze – and blame. So when they wake up after a new year’s party to find Keeley’s boyfriend stabbed to death beside them, they agree to share something else: the story they’ll tell the police. But who is that story really meant to protect? Is Jude risking her bright future to protect her friend? Is there more to sharp-eyed Keeley than she lets on? Or are they conspiring to let Keeley's brother get away with the drugs he's been selling in their small town? As the murder investigation sends ripples through their community, the history of the girls’ claustrophobic relationship comes under scrutiny – and they start to realise they might not, always, have shared as much as they thought. Can their friendship survive sharing everything?

First of all, DAMN.

It took me ages to finish this book because the beginning dragged a bit but I am so glad I stuck with it! It definitely gets better and I thoroughly enjoyed the ride.

Keeley and Jude are the epitome of best friends, they are closer than blood, stuck closer than a piece of blue tack on a wall. Inseparable since childhood, they share everything. So when they wake up after a new year’s party to find Keeley’s boyfriend stabbed to death beside them, what do they do?

The novel is written from multiple perspectives and has time jumps, which can get confusing at times but it adds another layer to complexity to the nature of the relationships presented in the novel. It allows you to understand their motivations. I really enjoyed reading about Keeley and Jude’s friendship although it borders on obsessive on one’s part (read to find out who).

I honestly thought this novel wouldn’t be as great but I am pleasantly surprised that it is better than I thought and I enjoyed it. Glad I stuck with it! A great debut! Read if you enjoy intense friendships, drama, obsession neatly wrapped in a thriller. Keeps you on ya toes!

Thank you to NetGalley and publisher for this ARC!

She And I is a wonderful thriller debut novel. It begins with a murder at a drugs and alcohol fuelled house party which has spiralled out of control. Jude wakes up to a dead body of her friend Keeley’s boyfriend. What happened? How many people had good reason to kill this man? As the police become involved and the story begins to unravel, the story goes back in time to other events surrounding Jude and Keeley’s lifelong friendship. I don’t want to say too much in case I spoil anything but I liked the way the author explored the different relationships. I loved that the story was told from several different aspects, including that of the investigating police officer. I liked that it was a bit dark and gritty.

This is an assured debut novel. Two friends wake up after a drunken party to find that the boyfriend of one has been murdered. The timeline jumps around a bit and the story slowly unfolds. I didn’t particularly like any of the characters but I don’t suppose you are meant to. Not an entirely enjoyable read but definitely engrossing.

Keeley and Jude are closer than best friends, they are like sisters. They have done everything together since they were children, despite Jude’s mothers attempts to keep them apart. Keeley comes from less privileged family, she has no father figure growing up and her mother was ill.

Jude and Keeley will do anything to protect each other. When they wake up from the New Year’s party at Keeley’s house and find Keeley’s boyfriend stabbed to death, they will go to all lengths possible to protect the other.

The relationship between the girls is intense, it feels almost toxic and uncomfortable.

Excellent psychological thriller.

Kept me guessing all the way through but avoided reader frustration well-very well written.

There's a growing sense of dread as we hurtle towards the tragic truth of one fateful night in our young protagonists lives, but what ultimately shines through in Hannah King's delicate novel is a thought-provoking and heart-felt study of female friendship, I heartily recommend She and I.

I think this book is a true replica of how friendships can sometimes be tested in the weirdest of ways yet they still come together in the end. I thought it was very original, I couldn't imagine waking up to find my boyfriend dead (both of them) and then coming up with a story on what happened...? Mind boggling but well thought out!

The debut novel from Hannah was well thought out, very real feeling and excellently written. Thank you Hannah and Netgalley for allowing me a copy of this ARC.
