The illustrations are exquisite, and the book was a joy to read to my grandchildren and I am sure will be a favourite.

As soon as I started reading this beautiful book, I couldn't believe how adorable the illustrations were. I stared at them for a long time, and I wished I lived in that story. A wonderful book! And I'm sure adults would particularly enjoy this one.

This beautifully illustrated story is brimming with cosiness and such a sense of family love and safety.
A charming hygge feel to it, with a lovely message about the lengths a parent will go to for their child and familial love and warmth.
Also has a rhyming scheme easy for kids to understand and grasp.

The illustrations in this book are glorious and the cover really drew me in and I love the poetic language and descriptions. Something in the story fell a bit flat for me - they strive to gather a star but in the end fail as you can't catch a star but realise there was a star at home all along, But for children this isn't really explained well, perhaps the rhyme scheme and language kind of hampered the story? For me it just didn't 'click'. The illustrations are without a doubt the best part and many of the spreads are absolutely wonderful.

An absolutely stunning book filled with a positive message. I will certainly be reccomending this book to children and adults. The art style is beautiful and the rhyming repetitive structure will really appeal to the younger audience.

Beautiful and Gentle book for older children.

I liked the tones of the illustrations used in this book, very cosy and perfect for the winter nights.

Short and easy poems are also well written.

Such a lovely, warm story for children’s bedtime. We enjoyed the illustrations and the rhyming story that made my little ones feel loved and secure. It opened up conversations about our wishes and dreams and to recognise how lucky we are for the things we have. We absolutely recommend x

This short book is written in verse, alternating between the voice of the parent and the voice of the child. I really liked that. There was something very poetic in this little book, including the art that created a soothing feeling!
The story is about going to great length to obtain something, and then realizing that all this time, said thing wasn’t that far away. That there is beauty in the ordinary and in what surrounds you. It’s a lovely message.

This is a beautifully illustrated rhyming bedtime book perfect for under fives.

It tells the story of a parent and child bear as they travel through woods, over the sea and up a mountain in search of a star.

Would make an ideal Christmas present

This is an amazingly illustrated, magical, children's book, which is full of wonder and delight. A little bear wants her Mum to get her a star, so her Mum promises to reach up to the sky to retrieve one for her. They set out from home on an adventure at night time, trying to catch a star for the child. They are not able to get one, but they realise that their own home is full of light and is shining bright like a star, and so they travel home to enjoy the light and warmth of their own perfect dwelling. This book is so beautiful and the illustrations are amazing. It is a book that fills you with joy and happiness and opens your heart. My daughter and I loved it! Highly recommended!

Many thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

When little bear decides she'd like a star mum promises to get her one. They set off on a quest to reach the sky, travelling through forests and oceans, all the time noting how the star gives them light to keep going. When they reach a mountain's summit and realise they still can't reach the star they look down and see their own patch of warmth, their own lights from their house, waiting for them. A lovely picture book showing us the importance of realising what we have got instead of trying to get the unobtainable.

A strong evocation of love and the power of a nice, safe home. Baby bear wants to have a star from the heavens in its hand, and parent bear promises to fetch one – it will be a long and arduous journey, perhaps, but it will be done and it will be done safely. But will it? Simple verse gets the story across perfectly well, and it's all wrapped up with a cosy, night-light glow, and a lullaby quality that is most appealing. A strong four stars.
