This tree is just for me by Lucy Rowland and Laura Hughes.
Jack has a new book, and he's found the perfect place to read in peace - a big, beautiful tree.
So when a tiger, a bear, an alligator and a whole host of unusual animals ask if they can join him, Jack says, 'NO! This tree is just for me!"
But you've got to be careful what you wish for. When the animals go away, Jack begins to wonder whether keeping something to yourself is so much fun after all. Sometimes, a tree is EVEN better with friends in it too!
This was a great read. My kids loved it. Especially the pictures. 4*.

I loved this book. It is a wonderful, lyrical, rhyming story about a boy who discovers that sometimes it is better to be with friends, even if you think you want peace and quiet.

I love this adorable book! I loved the boy, enjoyed the story and the lesson immensely. The illustrations and the colour palette is very well done. I'm sure it'll be a popular one among the family!

A heartwarming, well written, rhyming tale of friendship and the importance of being true to yourself. With bright, beautifully illustrated pictures, this book will appeal to young readers, just beginning their journey of friendships.

What a joyful book! Little bookworm and I have enjoyed reading this together - we loved all the different animals and she enjoyed joining in with the repetition.

The story flows easily as you read it aloud with a rhythm that exudes happiness.

Little bookworm particularly liked the end because she was happy that he shared his tree.

The importance of reading wrapped up in a wonderful book!

The colours in this book are lovely. This book is all about Jack, who finally finds his ideal tree to read his new book. But then suddenly there is lots of visitors! He wants the tree to himself but he soon realised it was better with company. Thank you for the opportunity to read and review this book.

Well, this is quite frankly a weird piece, but a very enjoyably weird one at that. Young Jack has sought out a tree to sit in where he can absorb his new book in the company only of silence, but lo and behold a right menagerie will turn up one by one, and expect him to play along. There's an elephant, an alligator, and everything else you'd never expect to find up there with him. The artwork just about succeeds in convincing, and just when you think it was all a dream you find it's a moral about sharing and not keeping yourself (and your good books) to yourself. This might well have been something Jack enjoyed up there, but it's a breezy, rhyming picture book that's over in two shakes of a tiger's tail, so he'd have needed more to occupy him. Still, this would have been one he certainly remembered – a strong four stars.
