It pains me how little I liked this book, pretty much from the beginning. I’ve really enjoyed the entire series but some circumstances that happen early on were hard for me to forgive let alone forget. Having said that this is probably just a pet peeve of mine and if you’ve made it this far in the series definitely don’t give up based on my opinions alone. ***SPOILERS
[Excuse all the ranting but I need to get this off my chest lol..... It all started when Malcolm held her back while her friend is killed. Just cruel and kind of hypocritical hurting her like he did. I just could not feel any connection or romance between them with so much uncertainty hanging over them. No matter his reasoning's are in thinking her friend was a cruel person, he did nothing when he clearly could have stopped that. He claims not being able to take on four men alone but he wasn't alone and I'm 1000% sure he had a gun so I can't understand why they couldn't have quickly taken out those doling out the beating while they were distracted. Not only that but his power alone made those men scurry away. Why he couldn't have made them run earlier makes no sense. Reading his death was like a knife to the heart and I cannot justify the heroine attending the funeral of her best friend yet getting turned on by the hero whom did nothing to help either of them. The fuck? All this made me question every little thing that got to me. So bad it was almost to the point I hoped her bestie was guilty of the atrocities he was being blamed for, anything so I could reason his being killed so cruelly especially when compared to how her father gets killed in the end.
The whole mess with her father and his business partner also read very messy to me. There was just so much going on that the father being guilty but also being betrayed was a bit too much for me to take. It also pissed me off how worried the heroines father was over her when their locked up together. It along with so many pieces don’t quite mesh into the overall puzzle even though I think I see where the author was ultimately heading. Barely 10% into the book and heroine is remarking of how much her mother and father are in love. She hopes and wants a love like that for herself one day. In her thoughts she also thinks he’s a man who “loves without a shadow of a doubt. The man who has protected me my entire life and it may be selfish and naive, but that’s the way I want it to stay.” I recognize as she does that she has blinders on, buts it’s one thing to accept him for being a criminal & loving him anyways but then being so quick to turn on him and go on and on about how horrible and uncaring he is and was during your childhood. Leaves me hella confused that's for sure. Her father also just left her with kidnappers when she was 14 for 8 days? I dunno there’s just so many plot holes. The heroine is isolated but close with her brothers. Brothers who somehow are squeaky clean when it came to daddies trafficking business and also never knew what was going on. The book felt a lot like watching a movie and spotting the cam mic at the top of a screen or a coffee cup on a table a la Game of Thrones lol. Just so many little plot holes that broke apart the whole story.
The last thing I had issue with and again I hate disliking this so much but dang did timelines and story-lines get all kinds of twisted here. It’s also kinda unclear if there will be only one more book or two since their cousin is getting out of prison and she's had a time of it. I’m devastated about what happened to her while locked up, I grew to like her in the last book and so I’m hoping after Finn she'll get her turn for revenge and love. I recognize some of the books are happening concurrently at times but it was all kinds of messy especially with the time jump in the less than pleasing epilogue. I say this because I didn’t love the issues showing up between the characters in the middle of their HEA. I think if there was another epilogue four more years or so down the road would have given me more faith in their love. While I appreciate the reality of what they went through. From the heroines perspective they’ve been distant and having issues for awhile. You don’t just quick conversation that away. I know a lot of it will be because we will seeing more of these characters again in the next book but it was like once I took an issue with the book, everything irked me. Hoping the next book will bring back the magic.

I love this series!
This is Malcolm & Raylee's story which an enemies to lovers,
They may of started off hating each other due to who their families were but the attraction was too strong to ignore.
Once again Brooke has written a book with a great dark mafia plot along with the love, friendship, loyalty and comradeship of the Gallagher family members.

3.5*

Firstly I want to say I enjoyed this one. I liked both Malcolm and Raylee. And having loved the previous one Shattered Union it was nice to have the crossover.

But…

I felt in places the story let it down. There were times I needed more. Things were rushed over some didn’t make sense and I didn’t like the gaps. I don’t want to make this a spoiler review. And for that you should be grateful because once I get on my soapbox I’ve been known to rant for awhile. But this book could be so much better with a bit more detail and a little tightening up. That said I can’t wait for the next one I’m truly hooked on the Gallagher’s.

Anyway I digress.

Despite the gaps in story I enjoyed this which says a lot about the main couple and how the characters are written.

I voluntarily read a review copy kindly provided by the publishes and NetGalley.

Raylee Silver’s is the only daughter of the silver clan and quite the complex family and history it is. Her father is the head of notorious gang. Raylee knew her father and brothers were involved in dangerous activities but didn’t know the depths of her fathers depravities.

Malcolm Gallagher is the second son of the Gallagher family and heads up their operation in Spain. He lost someone close to him supposedly at the hands of Raylee’s family and is determined to have his revenge. He thinks Raylee is the perfect vehicle for this. But Raylee is no pushover for Malcom or her family, she sees the rot and is determined to root it out even if that means putting family behind bars. The sparks between Raylee and Malcolm are palpable. Malcolm will do whatever he can even calling on family to protect the woman he loves. I love the complexity of all the characters and the story is gripping from start to finish. The books dips into other books in the series and I love the glimpses you get of other members of the family and the relationships they have with each other.

I would thoroughly recommend this book and this series. I received this book via NetGalley and voluntarily reviewed this book.

Malcolm Gallagher is out for revenge and what perfect way to get that then by going after his enemy’s prized possession, his daughter Raylee Silver, but all is not what it seems. Raylee knows her father is not a good man, but not until she meets Malcolm does she realize how evil her father truly is, and as important as family is she realizes she must do what’s right. Both Raylee and Malcolm are strong leads with twisted family dynamics ( I highly recommend reading the previous books in this series to see how messed up the Gallagher clan really is) but their mutual distrust soon evolves into a steamy hot relationship. This book has a great balance of heat, action and drama with great characters, who are seriously strong ( no wishy washy leads here). Really this whole series just keeps getting better and better to the point where I cannot wait for the next book to come out! There is some serious subject matter that is addressed in this book, which may be upsetting for some but the author truly does a good job dealing with the issue that has you rooting for the characters coming out on top and mourning for those lost as if you really knew them. I strongly recommend the whole series, but must say I think Malcolm may be my favorite so far. 5 stars must read, I received an arc copy of this book from NetGalley and the publisher for my honest review.

Well,!
It's quite a story...the storyline had good potential but I think everything felt a bit fast-paced,
It's an okay story..it takes only a few hrs anyways...there's so much evil in it...I can't understand..but in just a few months, from within the bars can you expand an empire that was destroyed??
🥴
The romance was stemy..the first half was okay

There’s a lot to unpack here. Heartbreak, torment, danger, misery, vengeance, and love. Yet again, the reaches of the underbelly of the world have stretched to a new region, and no one will remain unscathed by what’s happening in Spain. Especially not Raylee or Malcolm. He wants revenge but doesn’t have the whole story, while she is forced to learn the whole sordid tale and want some revenge and justice of her own. Add in the events taking place with other couples and the rest of the family and we have one more piece of the mafia puzzle mapped out. But no happiness can come without a price here, so we have to wade through misery and anguish to find our HEA. Just when you think all is good, that epilogue will grab you and make you wish that the next few books were already here. I know I can’t wait.

This was an action-packed book! We have Raylee Silver going head to head with Malcom Gallagher. After the death of a dear friend, Raylee seeks to uncover the truth behind her family's business and seek revenge against Malcolm. Similarly, Malcolm seeks revenge against the Silvers for their family business. The two of them are explosive together and give into their feelings, making a formidable pair. Along with that we uncover truths behind Raylee's family and who is really pulling the strings.

I think this book can stand alone, but may provide more insight if the previous books were read first. Having not read the previous books, I found myself wanting to know more about the Gallagher family who appear in this book and they have their own stories before this one.

This is a slow burn/star-crossed lovers story. Beginning as enemies, Raylee and Mal find themselves drawn to each other and their connection is undeniable. The story is full of twists and turns and keeps you guessing, with a love story woven through it. A fun read!

A dark mafia story. It is full of danger, suspense and retribution, the interaction between feisty Raylee and mafia boss Malcolm is fantastic. Just what you expect from this series. Bad boys turn to mush over their soulmate and woe be tide anyone getting in between them.

**3.75 Stars**

Hateful Union is a mafia romance. Raylee is the daughter of a man who has done some very bad things. Her brothers are involved in the family business, but she wants no part of it. If anything, her life has been in danger because of who is she and who her father is.

Malcolm is on a mission to mess with all the businesses belonging to Harry Silver, and part of his plan involves messing with Harry's daughter, Raylee. When Malcolm actually meets Raylee though and learns more about her and starts to see that maybe she isn't like her father, and then add in their chemistry, things head in a different direction pretty quickly.

This book is full of action and suspense and manipulation. This was my first book by this author and I found the story line intriguing and engaging. There were times when I felt like certain parts of the story needed to be flushed out and developed a little more and some parts of the story that seemed rushed. I also felt like the ending seemed a little too rushed, but I would definitely be interested in reading some more of this author's work in the future.

5*
Malcolm doesn't trust Harry Silvers one bit and is out to stop him, but his methods might back fire.
Raylee isn't what Malcolm expected at all she's not going to be walked all over by anyone. The chemistry is strong between them but can she trust him?
Wow what a great story really pulled me in from start to finish.
