This was a slow burner from memory - I do however remember the novel and setting a year later so has to have had an impact.
I like Lucy Foley although good reads not amazing.

I have previously enjoyed Lucy Foley’s other work, but The Paris Apartment was a step up in mystery, thrill and tension.
From the beginning I was hooked, the twists and turns were impossible to predict and the action left me breathless with fear in places. A perfect thriller with a fantastically twisty ending.

This was a trip…! Slow pace for a while, gradually feeding you little snippets here and there. Be prepared to only have the lightbulb moment about 75% of the way in, but it’s a real ohhhhhhh…! moment. Intricately woven storyline, which offsets the fact that I didn’t really find any of the characters very likeable (which I think is expected here!). Would recommend though.

I received a free ARC copy of this via NetGalley and the publishers in return for an unbiased review. Apologies for the long delay in providing this!

A fast-moving plot, with key parts of the plot revealed in a really clever way. You know what you're getting with a Lucy Foley book, and it definitely scratched a thriller itch.

Only got 25% into this book & had to give up, confusing flitting from one character to the next.

Not for me

The story telling was very good, I enjoyed the build up but unfortunately the twist was a little too late and somewhat underwhelming by the time you get round to it (in the last 10% of the book). I really enjoy this authors writing but unfortunately I wouldn't rate this more than 3 stars.

I absolutely loved The Hunting Party, which was the first of Lucy Foley's novels I read. I was initially attracted to it due its setting in the Scottish Highlands, near where I live. I also enjoyed her next novel, The Guest List.

Unfortunately, The Paris Apartment was not at good as the others for me and I wonder if Lucy Foley has had such success with her previous novels that she has sat back a bit with this one.

I still think most people would enjoy this, as I did, however it just wasn't as good as her previous two.

I have heard so much about this book, I am sorry I didn't manage to read it at the time, but now that I finally did, I am glad I have waited.
I read it whilst listening to the audio and I think if I didn't have the audio, I would have DNFed it.
Unfortunately it did not live up to my expectations. It sounded really promising and yes, there was that twist at the end, but it didn't make me go "wooooo".
I felt like it was prolonged too much and this didn't help.

I did like the multiple POVs as it was very good to see everyone's reaction at the end, so you could understand better who was involved. But that's about it, I'm afraid.
Said so, I will give another go to the author, as the other books might be better.

Lucy foley had just made it onto my favourite authors list! Really enjoyed this novel and Lucy’s writing style made putting this book down a chore!

This is my first Lucy Foley book and it didn't disappoint, sometimes it's nice to escape romance stories and dive right into a mystery thriller. It's engaging, easy enough to follow, The Paris Apartment will keep you guessing and entertained.

Thank you for the ARC of this title. A multi-layered, excellent thriller where everyone is a suspect. I loved it.

I had high expectations for this book. It sounded thrilling and intriguing but, sadly, it fell short of my expectations. There were so many characters and the story felt like it was prolonged unnecessarily.

I have previously enjoyed Lucy Foley's books and this won't stop me from reading more of hers in the future but this one was not to my taste.

I was soo excited to finally read The Paris Apartment by Lucy Foley but I'm sad to report that this is probably my least favourite out of all her thrillers so far. it just felt very different, the only thing I enjoyed was the Parisian setting. The whole mystery and drama just didn't interest me enough.

I’d heard great things about Lucy Foley’s writing but sadly The Paris Apartment didn’t live up to my expectations.

I usually enjoy multiple POVs but there seemed to be too many here. I got a little lost in who was who and didn’t care about any of the characters.

My first Lucy Foley and I was not disappointed. She is able to create really spine tingling atmospheres and a great cast of characters, You think quite early that you have worked it all out but then she manages to surprise you in the end!

Jess contacts her half brother Ben who lives in Paris asking him to let her stay with him. He agrees but when Jess arrives Ben is nowhere to be found, which is strange as Ben had just text her, so he knew she would be arriving soon.

The longer Ben stays missing the more Jess starts to dig into her brother's life and the more questions she has.

Jess turns to the other residents hoping to find out when or whom had seen Ben last. All the other residents are strange and they seem to be hiding something from her. But what?

Jess may have come to Ben's to escape her past but it's starting to look like it's Ben's future that's in question.

This was a fantastic twisty read that kept me fully engaged throughout.

Thank you to Netgalley for my copy in exchange for a review.

The story:
When Jess travels to Paris to stay with her half-brother Ben, she’s hoping to leave her troubles behind her. But on arriving at Ben’s upmarket apartment she finds it deserted — despite Ben’s message that he’d be up to let her in.

As Jess gets to know the other residents, from aloof and superior Sophie Meunier in the penthouse, to aggressive and threatening Antoine on the 1st floor, it seems everyone has something to hide. But what is the mystery that binds the residents together? And will Jess’s search for Ben lead her into danger too?

My thoughts:
I have wanted to read a Lucy Foley book for a while, and I have started with her most recent, the best-selling “The Paris Apartment”. We are immediately thrown into the action, meeting Ben, a journalist working on a story he hopes is going to make his name. When there’s a knock at the door of his third-floor apartment in a high-end Paris building, it’s clear something bad is going to happen. But what, and why? Three hours later, step-sister Jess arrives to stay, but finds the apartment empty apart from Ben’s cat.

Jess is a feisty and likeable protagonist, and she’s not prepared to take no for an answer as she gets to know the other residents of the building and tries to get to the bottom of what’s happened. Despite being brother and sister, Jess and Ben’s lives have taken very different paths following the death of their mother — with Ben being adopted into a well-off family and studying at Cambridge, while Jess has bounced around the care system. She arrives in Paris to try and leave
her own troubles behind, only to find herself in even more danger as she tries to unearth secrets that some people are determined to keep buried.

Each chapter of the book is narrated from the perspective of one of the residents — aggressive Antoine on the first floor, likeable Nick on the second, neurotic Mimi on the fourth, and aloof Sophie in the penthouse, along with a sinister concierge who lives in the grounds. This gives us a chance to glimpse some of their motivations, although it doesn’t prevent the author from pulling the wool over our eyes!

This was a brilliant mystery thriller, and the author completely wrong-footed me with the dramatic final quarter when it finally becomes clear exactly what happened in Ben’s apartment that night. Overall, a great read and I look forward to getting stuck into more books from this author soon!

Jess arrives in Paris to visit her brother, Ben, only to find he has disappeared without a trace from the apartment building where he lives. Trying to discover just what has happened to him and his whereabouts, Jess comes across some mysterious neighbours who are not very forthcoming and an even weirder concierge. She soon finds herself in the midst of some very peculiar goings on.

I have to admit to finding this completely gripping. I found it such a page turner, I literally couldn’t put it down. Rosemary’s Baby meets Thoroughly Modern Millie springs to mind, if only just the vibes. The apartment building even has a creepy laundry room in the basement complete with wine cellar. There are plenty of twists and turns and it kept me on the edge of my seat throughout. I did guess a few of them but loved the twist at the end. Full of oddball and eccentric characters, an entertaining plot line and with an atmospheric setting, this makes for a fun and riveting psychological thriller. I loved it.

I love a Lucy Foley mystery, and this one did not disappoint! Mysterious, twisty, pacy and engaging, the plot of THE PARIS APARTMENT was brilliantly written, with an authentic Paris setting & a well fleshed out plot, playing on the locked room mystery. Recommend!
