BEWARE! Do not start reading this book at bedtime as you won’t get any sleep, It’s a page turner for sure. Who did it? You will read in a frenzy trying to work it out and put all the pieces together.
Thank you Lucy & Net Galley for letting me read this. I definitely don’t give good reviews unless it’s deserved & this is. 4.5 stars.

I’ve read both Lucy Foley’s previous books and loved them both. This new release -The Paris Apartment - I found slightly more challenging to get into. The mystery as it opens clearly has many layers and we are presented with a multiplicity of points of views with a variety of unreliable perspectives from the main characters. Everyone has something mysterious they’re seeking to hide. All in all this was something of Goley’s signature and if you’ve enjoyed her previous books you’ll like this one too. It’s very much a character driven mystery and place that is the apartment is very well described.
A good read for lovers of characterful mysteries.

Thank you to the publishers and Net Galley for my free e-copy.
I have read a couple of Lucy Foley books before 'The Hunting Party' and 'The Dinner Guest' and enjoyed these so was looking forward to this book.
The book is set in Paris, France and I really liked this is a backdrop and location - I also loved all the French references and words (definitely learnt some new swear ones lol)
The story begins with Jess arriving in Paris to stay with her estranged half brother so straight away we know there is some background to this which kept me wanting to read on from the start. But when she arrives at the mansion apartments he has been living at and where they had agreed shortly before to meet he is not there and a recent voice note he sent may uncover something more sinister.
She gradually meets the rest of the residents as she sets out to find him and what has happened. We soon realise all is not as it seems.
This is a brilliant , tense thriller with of course great twists that genuinely did have me guessing until the end.

Another excellent book from Lucy Foley. Jess goes to stay with her brother Ben in his flat in Paris. But he seems to be missing. The story unfolds from the viewpoint of Jess and the other inhabitants of the flats.

Lucy Foley is great at delivering atmosphere and suspense. I’ve loved her other books and this one is just as good, full of tension, drama and fleshed out characters. The building in which ‘the Paris Apartment’ resides feels sinister from the outset. The building itself is almost a character in the plot: dark, mysterious, unknowable.
A cross between Hitchcockian horror, Roald Dhals ’Tales of the Unexpected’ and an Agatha Christie Murder mystery, Lucy Foley’s ‘The Paris Apartment’ firmly positions itself as a classic in the murder, mystery, thriller genre.
Everyone has a motive to want Ben to disappear, from the haughty Sophie to the disheveled Antoine. The Concierge is perhaps the only person in the house motivated by other concerns, but the family have power and influence over everyone in their sphere……or maybe not quite everyone.
A fast-paced thriller of a book which delves into the seedier parts of Parisienne life and the truth that lies behind the facade of wealth and respectability.
I wouldn’t want to give too much away other than to urge you to read it for yourself. As sparking as Paris at night and as dark Les Catacombes, which lie beneath its feet.

With grateful thanks to netgalley for an early copy in return for an honest opinion.
Fantastic from beginning to end fabulous author has you in the palm of her hand can highly recommend.

I finished this novel very quickly and it was an excellent read, and highly recommended by me. Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for giving me a copy of the book.

Thank you to Harper Collins, Netgalley and Lucy Foley for this ARC in return for my honest review. I read this book over a couple of days. Hugely enjoyable and engrossing. I love that the story was told from multiple perspectives. The cast of characters were mostly despicable but engaging none the less. Bound to be another huge hit.

Jess arrives in Paris as an unwanted guest to stay with her brother, Ben. She arrives at the mysterious but grand apartment block to find no trace of him. The residents are all behaving oddly and she’s sure there are secrets to unveil as she desperately try’s to find Ben.
Lucy Foley is the queen of atmospheric thrillers and this murder mystery doesn’t disappoint. As ever, her twists and turns keep you guessing. Can anyone be trusted? Personally, the setting doesn’t have quite the same pull as the highlands (The Hunting Party) or a remote island (The Guest List). However, the depth of the characters and plot more than makes up for it. Definitely one to read! With thanks to NetGalley and Harper Collins for the advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

A locked room murder mystery set in Paris, told from several points of view.
While civil unrest leads to riots in the streets of Paris, the inhabitants of a dated building have so much more to worry about. With a cast full of varied and interesting characters, this is a gripping whodunnit full of unexpected twists and turns. I loved it and highly recommend it.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for my advance review copy of this novel.

What a great read. Lucy Foley weaves a compelling story, cleverly characterizes her intriguing protagonists and melds it all into a descriptive, evocative journey through haute and bas Paris, complete with 'argot', current issues, drama and intrigue which drives the reader determinedly to the ending. I couldn't put it down and was almost sorry to reach the final pages.
Highly recommended.

Jess has left Brighton, after a run in with her boss, to join her half brother in Paris. Arriving late she buzzes the bell for her brother's apartment as he has instructed but there is no response. She can't climb into the courtyard as it has a metal gate and walls either side with glass imbedded in the top. Being pretty street wise she waits until a resident comes along and then sees the code he punches in to enter. Once in, she goes to the third floor flat of her brother, but still no reply. She then picks the lock to find that her brother has left his wallet, keys and clothes as if he should still be there.
The story is then picked up by each of the residents in the building, who tell their own story, bit by bit.
The story becomes more intriguing by the page. Drama and mystery is the theme. An unusual and well written book.

Thumbs up from
Me. Full of twists and turns and kept me enthralled till the end. Really recommend this one.

I am so happy I received this ARC as its been on my amazon wishlist since I found out about it.
I'm a big fan of Lucy Foley but this has to be my favourite book yet.
I devoured it in a few hours as I couldn't put it down and it's one of my favourite reads this year.
Lucy is investigating the disappearance of her brother Ben from his Paris apartment.
It's a twisty thriller set in one of my favourite cities.
There are multiple points of view, lots of twists and a great setting. What is there not to love?

I have read some of the other reviews of this book and whilst I agree it is an excellent read and provides the reader with all the mystery and excitement needed I am not going to regurgitate the synopsis of this book as seems to be the fashion, it’s good, very good, go read it

4.5 stars
Bienvenue au 12, Rue des Amants, Paris. C’est une maison de secrets. Alors, asseyez-vous, avec un verre de vin rouge et installez-vous pour une bonne histoire! Ok I’m done!! Ben Daniels is in his Paris apartment awaiting the arrival of his half sister Jess Hadley but he has an unexpected visitor first. Jess, as one of the principal narrators is a really good character, she’s flawed but she feels real and likeable and I especially like the way it’s written in real time as if she’s talking out loud to her audience. Are our other narrators likeable? Not so much! There’s a chic trophy wife, an angry alcoholic, a naive obsessive and a spurned lover. All of the characters have a different view point of Ben which is interesting as you try to grasp the essence of his personality. So, settle in and let the games begin.
First of all, how great to be in Paris as it adds an atmosphere all of its own especially as the city is a boiling pot of political unrest which perfectly matches the events in Rue des Amants. Secondly, the house is a star of its own show as the author cleverly uses all its nooks, crannies and corners to create a very strange and tense atmosphere which you feel right from the very start. There are spooky shadows, you wonder what evil lurks in the dark corners and it ramps up the tension with a growing sense of claustrophobia as if the walls are closing in. You have a really good whodunnit here as several characters behave oddly or suspiciously, some are downright sinister or there’s palpable hostility between characters and there’s an increased feeling of foreboding which hangs over the house. The warnings, threats and dangers magnify in intensity and it becomes apparent that there big secrets that people are intent on keeping buried. The plot builds well as revelation piles on revelation. There’s a good twist at the end although maybe it’s all ultimately resolved a bit too easily?
Overall, this is another winner from the talented Lucy Foley. It’s very easy to read as it flows well and is highly entertaining! I really like the cover too!
With thanks to NetGalley and especially to HarperCollins, HarperFiction for the much appreciated arc in return for an honest review.

I was so excited when I was approved to read this new book by the brilliant and very clever Lucy Foley. I've been glued to it for the past two days and OMG it's one of the best thrillers I have read this year. It was bloody brilliant, with really likeable characters and a plot so steeped in mystery, I could not wait to see how it ended and the final clues were revealed. It was shocking to say the least and the ending was not what I expected. All the characters had their own secrets and one of my favourite characters was the concierge, I found her really creepy and very odd, but once I found out her story my heart bled for her. This book will undoubtedly be the best thriller of 2022 and it will definitely be number one in the bestseller charts. It truly is PHENOMENAL and I LOVED everything about it, from the characters, to the plot and trying to work out the mystery which was an impossible feat. LOVED IT, LOVED IT, LOVED IT, LOVED IT, LOVED IT.

I just finished reading this book and literally I think I’m about to start reading it. I absolutely was transfixed by the plot in which is captivating. This book is the kind of thriller that will leave you stunned. I absolutely loved it.

Well, this has all the Hitchcockian vibes and is thoroughly, thoroughly entertaining. The third book from Lucy – read The Hunting Party, honestly, it’s class – is focused on no 12 Rue des Amants, a Parisian apartment block that’s not within sight of the Eiffel Tower. On the outside, close to the Seine and the hustle and bustle of city life, it’s a place wherein so many could aspire to live, but on the inside, nothing goes unseen – and everyone has a story. A young woman visits Paris to meet her brother. They don’t have the best relationship but she knows he’ll be there for her, letting her stay temporarily in apartment number three. But her brother isn’t there when she arrives; however, she does meet a series of eccentric and troubled neighbours, each with their reason for living in the apartments. It’s quite clear to her that she’s the unwanted guest – but why? From the scorned lover to the journalist who wants the next big story, this is a clever, concise whodunnit that’ll have you looking over your shoulder. Just wonderful.

This book had me gripped from the opening page. The change of perspectives had me questioning everyone’s motives. The chapters flipped from one character to the next which made it so easy to just think “just one more chapter”. I absolutely flew through this book!
It’s a classic whodunnit with clues and misdirections scattered throughout. I constantly thought I had it figured out until I was proven wrong again.
Jess was reckless and naive but also endearing and I found myself rooting for her. The other characters were multidimensional and flawed and I enjoyed the insight into each of their lives.
The descriptions of Paris drew me in and I felt like I was there. The beauty of the city shone through but also the darker, more dangerous side. I also loved the dark atmosphere of the apartment building, the claustrophobic tension that only increased as the story went on.
Overall I really enjoyed it – the best thriller I’ve read for a while.
