I'm sorry, but this book was difficult to read as it was so disjointed, not written particularly clearly and the whole whodunnit paragraphs really began to grate. I hope that this ARC was a bit more polished before publication as it read almost as if it was pre-edit.

As with any Lucy Foley book, this is a solid thriller with a good twist (unsurprisingly).
It was another well paced, multiple PoV that Lucy Foley is oh so good at. The short chapters added to the claustrophobic and tense feeling of the story.
The mix of well-written, dysfunctional characters made the story more compelling.

A thoroughly enjoyable thriller, as expected.

For me, just the title of this book is filled with mystery and intrigue of what lies behind the gates. Whilst I did find tit to be a slightly slow read to begin with, it did gather pace and overall, made for a gripping read. The different POV chapters created an air of mystery as each character was revealed, together with their secrets. I'd recommend this title.

Many thanks to Harper Collins UK and NetGalley for the review copy.

Jess is running away from her problems in England, and decides to stay with her brother Ben in Paris. She turns up at the address given but has to find another way into the flat as he isn't answering his phone. When she gets into the flat, Ben is nowhere to be found but his keys, wallet and phone are all still there so Jess is convinced something is wrong.

She stays in the flat determined to find out what has happened to her brother. She slowly meets the other residents who all seem evasive and suspicious and the creepy concierge who always seems to be lurking in the shadows.

The more time she spends at the flat, the more she is convinced one of the residents is responsible for harming her brother - or worse.

The story is quite slow burning and a little disappointing - it could have been much more.

I was looking forward to reading this but it felt like a slow burner to start with. I found the book full of typos though, it could do with being put through a spell checker before going to print next.

I am a big fan of Lucy Foley’s previous novels and think that she has a real talent of navigating multiple perspectives and storylines before the big reveal, where the full truth is handed to the reader. It is a style and trope that I really enjoy but with ‘The Paris Apartment’ I found the flow a little off almost like the tension was pulled tight all the way through the story.
I loved the beginning which follows Jess, arriving in Paris on a dark night, clearly running away from her troubles in England. She is meant to be staying with her half brother but Ben is nowhere to be found. In turn we meet all of his secretive and eclectic neighbors as she tries to find answers. Foley is great at crafting her range of characters in all of her novels and I felt like the vivid setting added a lot to this darker, domestic thriller.
The pacing was well done and the short chapters added to the claustrophobic emotions Jess is experiencing as she attempts to find out what happened to Ben. Personally I would have preferred some slower, less tightly wound sections in between just for balance and flow. Another great read by Foley and as always I cannot wait for the next!

Another stunning book from Lucy Foley, having loved The Hunting Party and The Guest List I knew I was in for a treat.

I loved how the story is told using different characters in the apartment and the slow reveal of the secrets it held!

I received this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest, independent review.

Ready for a fresh start, Jess travels to Paris to see her half-brother, Ben. But when she shows up at his apartment building, he's not there.

The longer Ben is missing, Jess starts to unravel more questions and more secrets. It turns out that everyone in the building can be a suspect, and all are keeping secrets.

This was a great mystery, with tension, anticipation and questions arising from the start. The plot was twisty and absorbing, and the atmospheric setting, the Parisian apartment building, holds as many secrets as its residents.

I enjoyed the mix of characters; they are a dysfunctional bunch! Each character is well described, and the mystery around each one builds throughout the book, right until the very end when it is slowly unravelled.

It is a multiple POV novel, so we really get inside each character's head. It is obvious from the get-go they are all holding secrets surrounding Ben. It is a bit of a slow burner at times, but the atmospheric setting and mystery keeps you drawn in.

An entertaining, mysterious novel with lots of great twists; definitely recommend it!

I enjoyed 'The Paris Apartment' and was glad to have guessed the final twist correctly as that was the ending I was hoping for! There were plenty of surprises I hadn't seen coming though, and it made for a gripping read. An intriguing assortment of characters and a great setting.

I was so excited to read this book and it did not disappoint!
It has a few POV which I actually enjoyed as I feel we get to learn more about the plot. It is well written and the descriptions set that eerie and creepy tone/atmosphere.
I have treated myself to the special edition hardback copy!

I didn't think this book lived up to all the hype - I found it mediocre and rather tedious. Will not be recommending it.

I think for me this book suffered under my expectations. I thought it was fun, I enjoyed the Paris setting, but overall this one just was not for me. I wish it was! I will continue to read from this author for sure, but this wasn't it for me.

The Paris Apartment has Jess, who is heading to her half brother Ben's apartment in Paris to get away from her old job.  Jess and Ben aren't close so whilst he wasn't jumping for joy at her coming, he is letting her stay there.  Except he's not around when she arrives.

As he stays missing, Jess gets more worried, and starts to discover things that make her wonder what's going on!

This is a good thriller, set in a place that makes you feel like an outsider as much as possible.

This is the third book I've ready by Lucy Foley, and they've all been very good thrillers, with interesting set ups and all based in very different places.

The Paris Apartment was published on 3rd March 2022, and is available from Amazon, Waterstones and Bookshop.org.

You can follow Lucy Foley on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

You can read my review of The Guest List by Lucy Foley here.

I was given this book for free in return for an unbiased review, and so my thanks to NetGalley, and to HarperCollins for this book.

I enjoyed The Hunting Party and the Guest List but The Paris Apartment lacked the elements of the other two novels. A confusing story, thinly written characters and although set in Paris could have been any major European city. I will read other novels by the author. Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the arc.

Foley's strength as a writer is capturing a sense of place, as she did in her previous books The Hunting Party and The Guest List. Here, this contemporary mystery is set in a classic old building in Paris complete with an oddball cast and a missing brother.

The story is told through a variety of characters, each using the first-person narrative. Each has their own secret and paranoia, but often their voices is too similar to the other characters so sometimes it's easy to forget who is narrating. It is particularly the case as most of them are in love with the missing man and the flashbacks detail gazing and lusting after him. The designer name dropping doesn't work for me or readers who are not followers of the latest craze or trend. Equally distracting are the frequent random French words, which are totally unnecessary as the whole book, being set in France, would have the characters speaking French anyway.

This book is modern in style with current phrases littered throughout, despite the traditional mystery trope that has drawn comparisons to Agatha Christie murder mysteries. There are no likable characters but they all have a sadness and tension within them. The tale ambles along, uneventful until the very end.

Lucy Foley is a popular author and I'm sure she will continue her success with this novel.

Lucy Foley has done it again! I loved this book. I am a big fan from The Hunting Party to the Guest List. This is the perfect setting, makes me want to go to Paris. It's thrilling and mysterious. I could have read this in one sitting but I had to be an adult and so some work.

I absolutely loved this novel.
I was completely transported to the building, having been to Paris a few times it felt very familiar.
I didn’t know what to expect as I flew through the pages but it was a true thriller.

Dark and creepy with a whole bunch of strange and unlikeable people. I liked Jess who has the unenviable task of living with these horrible people in order to find out what happened to her brother, Ben.
This slow-burn story is twisty and complicated. It jumps back and forth between timelines and points of view of different characters.
I listened to the audiobook and I loved the ensemble cast narration.
I enjoyed The Paris Apartment but it's slightly darker and uglier than I would normally enjoy and I found myself needing to shake it off after I'd finished it.

💓 The character development was fantastic and I loved ALL of the characters (even the ones we’re suppose to loathe 😂)

😬 The build up of suspense was intense! We’re left constantly wondering who gets killed, why and by who 🕵🏻‍♀️ .. so many have motive 😳 I loved finding out about all the back stories as we try to uncover the mystery 🕵🏻‍♀️

😬 My heart was racing with each page, and I loved all the twists, just SO MANY twists.

🖤 An addictive, domestic, suspensy, whodunnit that you won’t want to miss. And if you enjoyed the hunting party - this is WAYYY better 🤣 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I love Lucy Foley’s books and this one didn’t disappoint. It felt refreshingly different to the first two which were quite similar in tone and plot. This setting was brilliant, the story cleverly crafted and I was really invested in the characters. More please!
