I loved this so much, the cover drew me in as it was so cute I knew my girls would love the pictures and illustrations , I loved the tale and as an adult probably appreciated the messages involved, about appreciating the time we have , but they enjoyed the story too. Beautiful book with a lovely story. One for every child’s bookshelf

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I'm a little late and out of season for reviewing this, but this is a nice little book with a moral reminding us to avoid wishing our lives away and enjoy the experiences we have while we can. Reading this with my toddler son felt poignant, time is moving so swiftly with him, and treasuring these moments together reading a good book is such an important time.

This is a delightful, little beautifully illustrated book about a little fir tree who always wants to be different from what he is, and to be where he isn't. One day, he is taken to be a Christmas tree, and he loves the Christmas season with his new family. After it is finished, things change for him, and not in a good way, and he wishes he was somewhere else again. Will he get what he wants and will he finally be happy?

Many thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I hope this book will teach all children that cutting trees for Christmas is a terrible thing. I was sad reading about the tree and thinking of all the trees that are left on the pavement, a horrible sight. And, I wouldn't say I liked the illustrations, but the colour palette is lovely.

The moral of not wishing your life away, and the cyclical side of nature, are both well conveyed in this brightly colourful picture book. Just a short paragraph or three per page get the story across, but look for the necessary detail in the dynamic artwork too – the beat where new growth is given the chance is only in the background. It might be a book that introduces the idea of forestry and wildlife husbandry to the very young, too. A success.

This was a lovely book and I really enjoyed reading it!
The illustrations are full of bright colors. The story itself is about a little tree who wants to grow up and see the world like the other bigger trees. There's a nice message about enjoying the time we have and making the most out of each moment, before growing up. It's also a very nice read for the winter and the holidays <3

A really lovely story about not wanting to grow up too fast and appreciating the things we have.

Ideal for those children who want childhood to be over too quickly.

A classic tale with a noteworthy message and lovely illustrations.

Focus on and appreciate what you have, instead of longing for things others have - this is the key to happiness. It's never too early to have a chat about this with your kid.
My daughter liked the trees and I find the animals and mushrooms in the forest very cute and unique.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Quarto Publishing for this Advance Review Copy.
