A wonderful debut novel which is engagingly captivating and will ensure that you are engrossed until the very final pages. Am I allowed to say "Mills and Boons esque" with lovely characters that you warm to and can not help but find endearing. The spirit of Jane Eyre and Mr Rochester; the snobbery I imagine to be encapsulated in "Bridgerton" and sufficient humour that you do find yourself drawn in, to be left with a smile and a feeling of general wellbeing.
Thank you NetGalley.

A beautiful pageturner. I could not put it down. For Bridgerton lovers, with kissen but with less sex.
I love kitty she is a strong and beautiful character from the start.

Im not crying I’m not crying I’m not crying.
I LOVED this sorry so so much😭😭😭 why is it over?!?
I’ll start with this: I didnt like Bridgerton (the Netflix series) but THIS BOOK is exactly what I wanted Bridgerton to be. It’s classier and and less confusing. The romance is way more real and the balls described in so much more detail.
Kitty was a determined and clever lady. I loved her quick remarks and bold moves. She reminded me of Kestrel in The Winners Curse.
And James😍😍 there are no words to describe him and his humour.
This is a beautiful, lighthearted and quick read that’s perfect for summer. You’ll be getting your fans out for a different kind of heat…if you know what I mean. (there is no sexual content though but omg the tension is just *chefs kiss*) Be ready to fall in love.

Such a joy! Funny and well-plotted, perfect for anyone who likes the Bridgerton style of historical romance. I was totally wrapped up in it and cheering our heroine on.

I would like to thank netgalley and HarperCollins UK for a free copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
I enjoyed story, and hope there are more books to come.

Loved it, I flew through it. Entertaining and compelling and I loved the main character. Of course it’ll get Bridgerton comparisons, but it doesn’t disappoint.

Utterly brilliant!
This regency drama following Kitty in her determined desperation for a rich suitor to save her family from financial ruin involves Kitty and her sister Cecily joining London high society during the season. Things start to unravel when a scandalous secret from their past is uncovered and Kitty is issued with an ultimatum that ends her plans, however resourceful Kitty hatches a new plan, with an unlikely ally, but the hunt for a worthy fortune comes at an increasing cost and threatens the happiness of those she cares about most.
If you enjoy Jake Austen and Bridgerton this is very much going to be a dazzling read

In 'A Lady's Guide to Fortune-Hunting' by Sophie Irwin, Kitty Talbot and her three sisters are left with large debts after the deaths of their parents. Whilst all dream about love match marriages, Kitty takes on the role of finding a husband with a fortune large enough to enable them to continue to live in their family home. With her sister Cecily in tow, they travel to London to join the wealthy Ton, at the balls and events that form part of the season. However, their history and lack of etiquette mean that they have to work exceptionally hard to ingratiate themselves and to find an appropriate husband to rescue the family from destitution.
I really enjoyed this book and think it is the perfect novel for lovers of Jane Austin or Bridgeton. With her wit and ruthlessness Kitty is a very enjoyable heroine, and the pomposity of the Ton is an excellent target for humour. Whilst the ending was predictable from pretty early on, the way in which Irwin gets the reader there is great fun and keeps you turning the pages. I would recommend this book, particularly for times when you need pure escapism.

What an absolute delight, starting in the Austen style, blending into Makepeace and ending delightfully with Bronte, such an absolutely, delightful romp!

This is a fun quick read.
Kitty is intelligent and tenacious. When her family is left in debt and her and her sisters are about to be thrown out of their home, Kitty is determined to do whatever it takes to save the family. This means she has to find a husband rich enough to support her and her sisters.
Kitty and her sister head to London with clear objectives in mind. They need to convince society that they are respectable and make excellent matches – the richer the better.
Kitty soon finds herself up against Lord Radcliffe. He is suspicious of Kitty and convinced that she is a fortune hunter who will break his brother’s heart. Kitty is soon including Radcliffe in her schemes.
This is a simple, fun read with likeable characters. Yes, it’s a bit predictable and there is not much in the way of character development or period detail, but it is an enjoyable read for those wanting a Regency romance with a bit of sass.
Thank you to Netgalley for my gifted digital copy of A Lady’s Guide to Fortune-Hunting.

I really enjoyed this book. An absolute pleasure to read. The story flows well and the characters are interesting and likeable. It had the outcome I was hoping for and I will definitely be looking out for more from Sophie in the future. Thank you #netgalley

I requested this on netgalley because I am a massive fan of Bridgerton (both the show and the books) and I’ve read a lot of historical romances recently off the back of Bridgerton fever. So I was excited to read this one where our heroine Kitty is determined to find a rich husband in her debut season in London to save her family from financial ruin. Honestly? It was just an okay read for me. I can’t put my finger on why it fell a bit flat, but it did. I enjoyed it enough to finish it, but I wouldn’t rush to recommend this one. If you’re looking for a Julia Quinn substitute, try Lex Croucher or Manda Collins instead. ⭐️⭐️💫 (2.5 stars)

3.75 stars
thank you harper collins for the netgalley arc
this was a fun, quick historical fiction novel and for the most part i think this was a decent solid debut. i think rounding it to a four star reflects my feelings more as three seems incredibly low especially since i DID enjoy it.
i really enjoyed the regency setting, and being among the high society. i think the character of kitty was a perfect voice for this novel, as she carried enough wit about her to keep the novel interesting at times. i enjoyed how there were different sub-plots going on as well as the main character's story arc and how it switched seamlessly between different pov's. the writing style was simplistic and straight forward which i feel makes historical fiction books more accessible to those who are hesitant to pick it up!
throughout this novel i found myself wanting more from it. more detail, more plot, more character development and overall more substance. i feel like the base plot itself (kitty being a fortune hunter out to marry rich to save her family) was a good base idea. i feel as if this could've been refined more. we knew of her background and her parents marriage and the scandal it caused. but we were told these things and none of these revelations felt shocking to me. the main love interest as well as side character's felt lacking, once again i wanted more development on their part especially the character of radcliffe. he had all the appeal reading similarly to the character of mr darcy from pride and prejudice but he fell flat in the end. they didn't feel human enough for me, i didn't understand their motivation and it came off very cookie-cutterish. some of the side plots felt hurried and rushed, and the book ended too quickly for me.
i believe with an extra 100 or so pages, with more detailing on all accounts (characters and descriptions) this would've been even MORE phenomenal. despite this, a solid novel and i do not regret reading it.
perfect for fans of bridgerton and pride and prejudice.

With her parents dead, and bailiffs about to knock on the door, the ever-practical Kitty Talbot knows that the best way to secure her future, and that of her sisters, is to marry a rich man. So she sets off to London in order to find one. This was such a fun read. Witty and entertaining. I haven't seen Bridgerton, or read the novels but I imagine if you have a Bridgerton-shaped hole in your life right now, this book will go some way to filling it!

Thanks to Harper Collins and NetGalley for ARC.
Kitty Talbot has 4 sisters and a mountain of debt. The solution to her problems? A rich husband. The only person in her way is Lord Radcliffe, intent on protecting his family from a fortune hunter.
This regency romance was so refreshing. I loved Kitty's character, especially how practical she was, compared to the usual regency heroines. The banter between her and Radcliffe was excellent.
I thought the side plots were just as strong as the main story and overall, this was a really enjoyable and quick read. Certainly great if you enjoyed the most recent series of Bridgerton.

What a delicious romp through Londons Season. I loved the strength of the female characters and the fallibility of the men in the book. A lovely easy read.

I just want to start off by saying that I adored this book! it is not my usual preferred genre by any means but this was refreshing and had me hooked!
It was funny, witty and had a whole element of doing what needs to be done to protect those closest. There were elements of enemies to lovers and romance but it wasn't overbearing or cheesy in the slightest.
Overall, it was very refreshing for the genre and I cant wait to buy the hard copy!

Although this isn't my usual genre at all, I actually really enjoyed this book. The story follows an oldest sister looking for a rich husband to clear the debts of their late parents. It is a fun read and a reminder of what different lives women had in the 19th century. I recommend it as a perfect holiday read.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

What a delightful read. Wonderful characters and great setting. Kitty was such a strong leading lady, she had spunk and I wanted her to succeed. Will be recommending this to many. Just as good as the Bridgerton series if not better!

If you are a fan of "Bridgerton", a recent NetFlix period drama, then you are going to really enjoy this book. Set in 1818 England, Kitty Talbot has one thing on her mind. THat is snagging herself a rich husband. Now, before you think she is a money-grabbing wench, she is doing this out of duty and for the benefit of her sisters. However, can she fit into the Ton and society without looking out of place?
This is a book that I really enjoyed, it has all the glamour and societal expectations but it is one full of learning curves for Kitty. Coming to London she is well out of her league, she knows what she wants but she doesn't revolve around the high society echelons. You cannot just walk up to a Countess. Lord or Lady, you have to be properly introduced. This is a problem for Kitty as she hasn't any connections, well she does have the connections of her Aunt, but they could be, well dubious!
This is a fun read and one that I really enjoyed, there are reasons for Kitty's actions and when she catches the eye of a certain young, some to be rich, the gentleman then she thinks all she has to do is convince him and his family of her respectability. One problem, he has an older brother!
I did like Kitty, she is a feisty young woman who is determined, to say the least. The downside to her is that she doesn't have the 'breeding' for what she is to embark on. But, to be fair she learns to hold her own. there are some wonderful battles she has to deal with and her 'breeding' does stand her in good stead for the most part.
The storyline at times reminded me a little of Pride and Prejudice as well as the TV series Bridgerton ( I have only watched the 1st one!). It felt like a mix of history with the excitement of a modern story but in costume. This is a fun read, but it also does highlight society of the time. It does have the feel of a Young Adult story at times.
Enjoyable, fun, and fast-paced story that I really enjoyed and I would happily recommend.
