Hotel Magnifique by Emily J. Taylor is a captivating and magical YA fantasy with a whimsical atmosphere. The world-building is rich, and the concept of the traveling hotel full of secrets is truly enchanting. While the YA tone is on the younger side, it still manages to capture a sense of mystery and wonder, drawing you into its magical world. Jani, is an engaging protagonist and the supporting characters added depth to the story. A fun and immersive experience overall!

Jani lives and works to provide for her little sister and when she sees that the Hotel Magnifique is coming back to town and is hiring, she's determined to get them in. Of course, the gorgeous, luxurious hotel isn't exactly what it seems.
The descriptions of the hotel are so enchanting and magical with new surprises around every corner. The story itself is also full of surprises, and kept me guessing all the way through.

Das Buch Hotel Manifique fesselte mich vom ersten Moment und es war ein einziges großes spannendes Abenteuer.

I am incredibly grateful to both NetGalley and Pushkin Press for the opportunity to read and review Hotel Magnifique. Being selected to explore this captivating story before its official release has been such a treat, and I can’t wait to share my thoughts on it with all of you. A huge thank you to the teams at NetGalley and Pushkin Press for their generosity and for making this advanced reading experience possible.
All her life, Jani has dreamed of Elsewhere. Just barely scraping by with her job at a tannery, she’s resigned to a dreary life in the port down of Durc, caring for her younger sister Zosa.
That is, until the Hotel Magnifique comes to town. The hotel is legendary not only for its whimsical enchantments, but also for its ability to travel as the hotel appears in a different destination each and every morning.
While Jani and Zosa can’t afford the exorbitant cost to stay as guests, they can interview to join the staff. They are soon whisked away on the greatest adventure of their lives. But once inside, Jani quickly discovers their contracts are unbreakable and that beneath the marvellous glamour, the hotel is hiding dangerous secrets.
With the vexingly handsome doorman, Bel, as her only ally Jani embarks on a mission to unravel the mystery of the magic at the heart of the hotel. To succeed she will have to risk everything she loves, but failure would mean a fate far worse than never returning home.
I am a HUGE fan of this book. It gave me all of the same vibes that The Night Circus did and I am so here for it! It was nothing short of mystical and wondrous.
I’ve seen that Hotel Magnifique has mixed reviews and I have no idea why, it was perfect. There’s not a single thing I’d change about it.
I cannot wait to see what is next for Emily J. Taylor but I have very high hopes.
Overall I just loved being lost in the world of Hotel Magnifique. Books like this one fully make you escape reality and it is so beautiful.

I really struggled to find myself invested in this book.
Didn’t care much about the characters and the plot dragged, DNF’d.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for arc.
Fantastic book with a wonderful plot, great world building.

If you loved The Night Circus, than you will definitely love Hotel Magnifique! So much magic and intrigue. I loved the themed rooms and the strange occurrences that would take place. It gave me Haunted Mansion vibes which I loved too. I kept picturing myself as Jani and really felt like I was immersed in the story while reading. For all YA fantasy lovers, I highly recommend this book!

A gripping sense of unease and a provocative protagonist provide an interesting and compelling read. The sense of not knowing what was going to happen next when the hotel moved was unsettling.

This book is dark and sinister. I loved the characters so much. I loved the slow unravelling of the mystery.
It was a bit repetitive. However it is a good debut

A cold windy, winters evening made it easy to get lost in this novel by Emily J Taylor. Following Jani and her sister Zoza as they encounter the fantastical Hotel Magnifique and all the magic it holds, you are drawn into the secrets behind the curtain. A sense of unease runs throughout this tale, as you wait for it all to come crashing down (potentially literally!)
Richly written, its concept of magic intrigued me, and, having struggled to find time to read recently, I blitzed through it, determined to know how it ended. Had I not been so eager to finish a book, I may have struggled to pull the threads of the book together. The intermingled French was interesting but limited some of the impact of what I was reading. Meanwhile, though the plot was interesting, I could easily find myself disliking our protagonist and her impulsive decisions in such a fraught situation.
Nevertheless, I still enjoyed it and would recommend it to those after some light fantasy gore!

Thanks to the publisher for the early copy!
Hotel Magnifique had a unique premise about a magical hotel with allure to the commoners. Jani and her sister are lured by the promise of a job and magical adventures but all is not as it seems with the hotel. I found the story interesting but I found the execution to be lacking. As a protagonist, Jani is difficult to like and the poor story execution doesn't make it better. This story might appeal to readers who loved The Night Circus or Caraval.

A Massive Thank You to the Author, the Publisher and NetGalley for giving me the chance to read and review this book prior to its release date.

Unfortunately, after trying many times to pick this book up and read it, I just could never get into it. I don't know why that is but it never captured me.

Hotel Magnifique follows seventeen-year-old Jani, whose tiresome life is suddenly upended when her wish to enter the mysterious Hotel Magnifique is granted. Jani and her sister find themselves suddenly at the very heart of the mysterious hotel but everything is not as perfect as it seemed to be from the outside and, as new dangers reveal themselves and the two sisters are pulled apart, Jani is forced to face the terrifying reality underneath the hotel’s magical façade.
This was a really enjoyable read. It definitely reads quite young for YA, but there’s a gripping sense of unease that runs all the way through the book that made it especially pacey and enjoyable for older readers too. The magic system was fascinating, although incredibly fantastical at times, and I enjoyed getting completely sucked into this part especially.
Jani was an interesting protagonist, though I did find that she was a very impulsive character whose actions were at times quite difficult to justify. She was otherwise very likeable, and I loved the rest of the characters and the mystery that surrounded almost all of them.
This book in premise seems very similar to Caraval, but its writing felt unique and the unease and mystery element definitely leans it more into the mystery genre than pure YA fantasy. I’d definitely recommend it as an easy, exciting read for fans of books like Caraval and the Night Circus.

I really enjoyed Hotel Magnifique, for what it was. That is to say it is a bit too YA for my taste. The magic system is really interesting and really lifts the story and it builds the mystery and enchantment. However I wanted to know more about the glittering, glamorous and over the top world of the hotel, more about the guests and the traveling. I felt that you were a bit too quickly thrown into the drama of the story, I wanted to be fooled a bit longer and have more of a build up. But I'm not disappointed about what I got either.

A great story that reminded me of Caraval and the Night Circus.
While there is a particular style of writing that isn't to everyone's taste I found once I got into the story I found myself sucked in.

An easy enjoyable read, Hotel Magnifique scratched the itch when looking for something similar to The Night Circus!

I really liked the setting of this book, and the cast of characters. There were elements of intrigue and suspense.
I put this book down for a little while and have since picked it back up to finish it. Because of the length of time that has passed since I started this book, I found this difficult to rate fairly on other platforms, but I will do so for the purpose of this review.
Thank you for the opportunity to read this early release copy.

Hotel Magnifique is a unique book that should appeal to lovers of magic and mystery. It had interesting characters and the most fascinating setting ever. I loved the descriptions of the travelling hotel and the way the rooms changed to match the destination and the feeling. It was a great way to exercise my imagination as I envisioned each room and the magic effects.
Sadly the writing, for me, was a little juvenile as it was a teen book and I really wasn't feeling it.- but then I'm not the ideal audience. I didn't finish but, if I had been a teenager this would have been a 4-star read. The mystery of what happens to the staff and why they can't remember anything is intriguing and I really wish i'd been more gripped by the romance aspect.

Whilst I can see the comparative features of this story, and would recommend to people who like these themes, this book was sadly not as memorable as I would have hoped.
