Beautiful and emotional!
When I read the blurb about a woman moving on with life after her husband is killed in an accident, I was hooked.

The first chapter is different from other books as it has a group of souls planning a life. Kate will be aided by others in her journey.

When her husband passes, Kate is a single mother with a young son. She deals with the grief and stress of bringing up a son on her own, deciding to strive and give him a good life.

She meets many people and connects instantly with some of them. The organ donation after affects are quite interesting.

The grief is realistic and the hesitation to find love again is quite real as well.

I just devoured this wonderful story and used a few tissues along the journey.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone who wants an emotional book about moving on, with a few surprises along the way of life.

4 *****

Two souls, two orbs, bounce and glide around each other in the other [lane, the afterlife, heaven, a place not here on Earth. "Kate", as we will learn to call her, thinks about her next life, "I want to be a celebrity of sorts, can you imagine? Leaving a legacy, my small mark on history would be quite an accomplishment."
Her soul mate, her tether, her connection, says, "Well, that would make for an exciting life this time around."
Excitement and sadness they have not previously experienced waits for them. This next time around. But one little change crashes their repeated love life. But not their history. Exactly what will be so different this time? What is at Kate's end this time?
This novel is different from Laine Carmen's previous novels set in the crime/thriller drama. But her intriguing storytelling is still here and amplified.
This novel is everything I think about daily and ponder over and obsess over. What happens to us? Do we come back again? What if we have more than one great love? Have we met our children before? Do souls live on in those who receive their organs via transplants? So many questions we won't know till it is our turn. THE one last great mystery of the universe that author, Liane Carmen, gives us her take of, and it will shake you.

This was a wonderful novel. I was very intrigued but the idea of Souls being intertwined and traveling through lifetimes together.
The characters were really well drawn, and I wanted more time with them all.
Extremely well done. Please just read it.
Thanks to Netgalley for providing me with this book. My thoughts are my own.

When Wings Flutter Liane Carmen Published: October 29, 2021

This is my first Liane Carmen book and I was so glad I discovered her! When Wings Flutter is a book about finding “your one,” falling in love, losing your love, finding yourself, and getting a second chance at love again. This book will break your heart and put it back together. This was almost a five-star read for me, but the reincarnation part of the story was not needed in my opinion. I would have been happy with Will simply watching over Kate and giving her “signs” along the way. There will be other readers, however, who will love the reincarnation aspect of this story. I still really enjoyed the book and would love to read more of Liane Carmen’s work in the future. Highly recommend!

When Wings Flutter was my first book by this author and I definitely enjoyed it. It was a love story but not of the typical hearts and roses variety. It was definitely so much more. It was an interesting and intriguing read that allowed the reader the opportunity to think about the bigger questions related to fate, spirituality and reincarnation and it was very well done by the author. This book evoked a lot of emotions in me throughout the course of the story and I would definitely recommend it to others

Thank you Netgalley for the opportunity to read this.

This is a beautiful and touching story following the life of Kate, and the interconnecting lives of her family and friends she meets along the way, following the tragedy that kills her husband, Will.

This story explores reincarnation and second chances, and as the story progresses, you learn how everything is connected and falls into place. The way this was presented by the author was wonderfully done. and I found myself emotional throughout the story.

Interesting concept novel of reincarnation to rectify wrongs of a past Life. Kate’s new life is detailed over her years on earth as she suffers great loss, reinvention of her life, and meeting people along the way that will help her achieve her ultimate goal.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This book requires an open mind/heart and the suspension of what we consider our logical, rational reality. It is a novel that expresses a spirituality, which embraces a non-physical realm interfacing with and even guiding the unfolding of human experiences.

As a soul entity, Kate is planning her next incarnation – one that will challenge her to grow and expand her soul consciousness. She chooses the themes for this lifetime and gains the cooperation of other members of her soul circle to play specific roles to support her. Once she incarnates, she has no memory of her intentions, but she does have the ability to intuitively recognize those who enter her life to play their agreed upon parts. In the course of this lifetime, Kate experiences deep love, loss, grief, compassion and forgiveness. She moves from having a lack of confidence in herself to fulfilling her destiny and leaving the legacy she had hoped to achieve.

The premise of creating a life plan on a soul level is not new, but here it is handled with an emotional sensitivity to the human condition that is both touching and inspiring. What we call synchronistic events, even miracles, may be the soul’s influence on our mundane lives. Most importantly, the book underscores that we cannot appreciate the significance of life’s challenges in the moment; often what would be considered negative or painful circumstances contain the greatest gifts.

I recommend reading the first chapter carefully (or re-reading it periodically) as it creates a framework for all the events and relationships that follow. The chapters are clearly labelled as the timeframes are accelerated over Kate’s lifetime. While this could lead to confusion or a disjointed storyline, the author skillfully uses this device to keep the story moving forward over a full lifetime. Overall, I enjoyed this book and found it a refreshing change from the usual fictional fare.

My thanks to the author, the publisher, and NetGalley for the privilege of reviewing this book. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

This is a story of meeting someone, and you just instantly make a connection. That is what has been happening to Kate. When she met Will, she knew he was the one, and they felt like they knew each other. They got married and had a son. Their connection was so strong, but when he was killed, she was devastated.
After that, things were different for. Kate and she knew she had to move forward in her life. Kate didn't understand things at the time. Things like people being in the right place at the right time. Feeling an instant connection with some people. Unexplained things happening, things she didn't understand.
I could relate to Kate, because the soul knows things, the brain and heart doesn't understand. Kate didn't understand many things, but she knew she had to follow through. Many people experience things like Kate has, when someone says you must have someone watching over you because something that needed to happen and didn't seem possible, really did happen.
This is a story that I connected to and could understand. It is one of those connections where you don't go looking for something, some things come to you. If this book comes into your life, maybe it is meant for you to read it.
I received an ARC from Liane Carmen through NetGalley.

A story of love, reincarnation, and second chances. A little cliched, but all in all a good and enjoyable read.

I received a copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for a fair review. I'll leave the whole plot reveal to someone else. I found this book very enjoyable to read. I have read several novels about reincarnation that have talked about the same circle of people being with you in each life, so this wasn't new but it was artfully done here. If you pay close attention to the first few pages and remember them as you go along, things make sense as events unfold and characters turn up. I felt as if Kate had a lot more grace than I might gave in several situations, but I also wasn't sure why she was so unsure of herself. She seemed like a very capable person from the very beginning. What stopped me from giving this book higher than a 3* was that I felt it was a little flowery, that despite the early tragedy, everything else appears to be unicorns and rainbows. I guess I'm a little too cynical for the story. It bothered me that she was obviously interested in someone for years and never took the initiative, despite her actively going for Will.

If you like clean, non-graphic romance and spiritual vs religious books, this is the story for you. It would make a great book group selection.

Thank you, Netgalley.
