I like Susan Lewis but have to admit I struggled with this book .
I found it very hard to like Jeannie , quiet a cold character. Cara was much more likeable.
The story was ok but seemed to lose momentum around the first few chapters , picked up towards the end .
Not her best work , only an ok read .

Thank you for the arc NetGalley.

Jennie goes missing during a national lockdown, at first it it does not come to anyone’s attention that she is missing until her surgeon husband comes home to an empty house, however it comes to light this is not the first time Jennie has gone missing, making it difficult for the police to open a case.

A trainee investigator decides to take this case on to find out the truth and what has really happened to Jennie.

There are many characters and timelines within this story which keeps you engaged and intrigued.

A fantastic read with lots of twists, turns and suspicion which kept me guessing throughout. I highly recommend.

I love Susan's books but sadly I didnt think this was one of her best ones. So many characters and different timelines made it a confusing story. I did like Cara and her investigations though
Thank you to Netgalley for the opportunity to read this ARC

Another great read from Susan Lewis, an author I love for the way she integrates her former characters beautifully into her latest story.

This one opens in January 2021, at the start of the latest national lockdown in the UK. Reading this in 2022 just reminds us of how far we have come since then. Jeannie Symonds, a publishing legend and a woman who has it all, is starting this lockdown in her second home when she opens her kitchen door and vanishes without a trace. At first, no one realises she is missing but once they do, focus falls on the fact that Jeannie has done this before.

Enter the local police, who can’t open an investigation for a woman who has vanished in the past. Despite this, veteran Lewis character Andee Lawrence steps into help Cara, a trainee investigator with the force, just in case. What follows is a shocking, twisting tale as secrets are revealed and suspicion falls.

A great read that kept me guessing throughout.

Thank you NetGalley for my review copy.

would like to thank netgalley and the publisher for letting me read this brilliant book

susan lewis never lets you down....

with a plethora of characters and a missing person, it all adds to the excitement when you receive this book

jeannie is missing but as yet there is no urgency from the police to say she is misper, with the knowledge that at times jeannie has gone away before without telling anyone and turned up at a later date

but an unofficial investigation is starting and though the same people are saying the same things nobody can understand why she is missing and hasnt gotten in touch...

brilliantly written with some heartfelt characters, hoping this is the start of a new series

cant wait for the next book by this author

As usual Susan Lewis pulled it out of the bag, brilliant read told through the main characters. It kept me guessing as who had killled Jeannie, i kept going back and forth thinking it was someone else. A great ending. Highly recommend.

Who’s Lying Now by Susan Lewis
I give this book 4.5 stars

Jeannie Symonds, an eccentric, award-winning publisher, is spending lockdown with her husband. She seems to have it all.
And then one day, she vanishes.
Cara Jakes is a new trainee investigator, she teams up with detective Andee Lawrence to look into the disappearance.Cara is sure that someone has a secret to hide.
But how can she separate the truth from the lies?

Secrets and mystery among a close knit community during lockdown..Each chapter is told through different perspectives and the story has a present and past timeline. As always with this author the characters are well crafted and engaging including some familiar Kesterly faces (which l loved) .l was kept guessing all the way through as the threads of the story were expertly pulled together.l really enjoy a book the mixes the police procedural with the heart of a community. I’m always excited when Susan Lewis publishes a new book and this one doesn’t disappoint!
With thanks to Netgalley, the author and HarperCollins UK, HarperFiction for my chance to read and review this book.

I am sorry but I just couldn't get into this book. I got about 40% through and then gave up. Jeannie doesn't come across as a very likeable character. I never thought that would affect my enjoyment of a book, but it does. I simply didn't care what happened to her. The best character for me was Cara, I liked the way she wanted to learn and was not afraid to ask difficult questions. Susan has long been one of my favourite authors but this one was just not for me.

I wasn’t particularly fond of this novel. The plot summary seemed interesting. The novel itself goes back and forth between different characters and different year’s and days in time. With no real consistency in how it does this it comes across as a bit muddled in structure.
Jeannie goes missing, we get it. It is about 20% through the novel when some action has been actually taken. Until then we are coming across a lot of people in their before and currently in their situations and other novels have done this better as the structure in this novel wasn’t as straight forward. The plot seems to be dragged across however you can tell the characters have been planned at least.
Overall, this novel could not hold my interest but the characters have a strong background even though the structure in this novel wasn’t to my liking.

I received this novel in exchange for my honest review.

Why has Jeannie disappeared? She seems like a lady who has it all and really happy.
Someone knows the reason why and Cara wants to know who.
This book had me so gripped! I read this so quick, with each page i wanted to know what happened and see the secrets unfold.

Who's Lying Now by Susan Lewis

Jeannie Symonds is a force to be reckoned with – an eccentric, award-winning publisher, spending lockdown with her husband in a house near Kesterly-on-Sea. She seems to have it all: a high-flying career, a happy marriage, a niece she adores.

And then one day, she vanishes.

This book by the wonderful Susan Lewis is as good as all her others.
I don't know how she managed to write such great books that capture the moments that we all have , experience , and know that we never want to come knocking at our door.
A brilliant title.

Wow another intriguing, captivating read from Susan lewis!
Based back in familiar Kesterley with a host of familiar characters during lockdown which made it seem more current and relevant and it also illustrated well the difficulties caused with lockdown whilst undergoing police investigations which I had never considered previously.
A disappearance of an eminent publisher throws the spotlight on the couple concerned delving deep into their relationship and history, how can someone just disappear without a trace? Why would she disappear ? Who’s involved?
As the case unravels we learn a lot about relationships, past misdemeanours, and the effect history has upon you.
Who can you really trust? And do you ever really know a person or what they are capable of or what’s happening in their relationship?
Fast paced, tantillising and intriguing a great read that I would recommend.
Thank you netgalley for this early read.

Secrets…
There are secrets to be found in a close knit community in this well written and immersive suspense. When Jeannie Symonds goes missing nothing adds up. Jeannie is a force of nature and she seems to have the perfect life. How will things unravel when a young investigator teams up with the detective on the case to further investigate? One thing is sure, some secrets will be blown apart. A swiftly paced read with a credible cast of characters and a compelling narrative.

Another great book by Susan Lewis. Despite being a gruesome tale (I won't give more away) there is a lightness about her writing, I think because it is set in a close community with people who genuinely relate to one another. This one is also bang up to date as it includes plenty of references to lockdown and covid restrictions which I think will make it a true book of this period of time.

It’s hard not to like a Susan Lewis novel and this is another strong story from her. I admit it took me a little bit to get into this but once I got a feel for the character, character dynamics and complex relationships I was enthralled. Each character had links to many others and their own relationships seemed far from straightforward. This was very hard to guess which way it was going and even the ending left me wondering if I really did know everything.

Masterpiece.

Cara Jakes is a new trainee investigator – young, intelligent and eager to prove herself. When she teams up with detective Andee Lawrence to look into the disappearance, she is determined to find out what has really happened to Jeannie. Cara begins to question the residents of this close-knit community, sure that someone has a secret to hide.
But how can she separate the truth from the lies?
Susan Lewis has done it again. She really knows how to write a gripping psychological thriller. This is her finest work. Really loved the characters.
Thanks to NetGalley and Harper Collins UK Harper Fiction for giving me an advance copy.
