This was such an informative and interesting look at the history of polygraphs and lie detectors. It was so fascinating to hear the origins of the technology and the science it was based on. The book also focuses on a number of cases which highlighted the emerging issues with the technology which could and did lead to miscarriages of justice.

i really enjoyed this it was a really interesting historical account of the invention and use of the lie detector. The author makes the story interesting and it reads like a novel. The author has clearly done his research and has taken time to think about the market he is writing for. The book covers the politics and characters surrounding the lie detector rather than talking about the famous people that it has been used on and how it works and the transcript. I would really recommend this for anyone who likes history and true crime.

Thank you at NetGalley for my copy.

To start I would like to say that this book is really fascinating and definitely worth reading.

The author explores the history of conception and the creation of the lie detector (aka polygraph) as well as the murder that triggered it. Katwala also explores the myths surrounding the lie detector and its impact on the justice system.

If you enjoyed books like the stranger beside me and mindhunter, you'll love this!
