Enjoyed this book and found a lot of interesting information packed between the covers. I thought the book was well organized and the thoughts flow smoothly. The author does a great job of keeping the material educational and still entertaining.

A fabulous book for anyone who loves dogs or is simply curious about them. Full of wonderful facts and information to help us understand our fur buddies as well as possible. The book is full of gorgeous photographs and simply a pleasure to read.

Do you wish you understood why your dog behaves the way he does? Do dogs act differently when they reach old age? Why do dogs not stop barking when you want them too? How do you train a dog to stay? These are only a few of the questions that are answered in this book. The book is written in a question and answer style. The author answers all questions throughly yet in easy to understand language. I found answers to questions I had about my senior citizen dog—will be 16 years old next month. It has given me comfort and understanding of some of the behaviors she’s been doing that I didn’t know if I needed to take her to her vet but I don’t now have to.

I can’t praise this book enough. It answers so many question that are helpful to the first dog owner to more experienced dog owners. Though I did read an arc of this book, I will be getting a copy for myself as I liked the information in it.

Thanks to NetGalley and Storey Publishing for an ARC of this book.

Easy read and nice answers to questions. I liked the Q&A format and found it useful. The information contained was helpful and I think all dog owners would find value in some of the information if not all of it.

This is a good book for dog owners/servants who have questions about their dogs and their behaviour. You are most likely not alone, someone else is probably out there with the same problem/question. Many of these questions are answered in this book. The book is in the format of question and answer, and will give you important insights into how different breeds or dogs in general behave in a certain way.

Does your dog do things that you think are weird? Are you looking for answers for every day things that your dog does? If so, then this is a book that you should own. This is a book that I will go back to again and again for answers.

This second edition of a dog behaviour book (originally published 15 years ago) has a friendly, conversational Q&A style and ranges across a lot of commonly asked questions about normal and unusual dog behaviour. The answers are often anecdotal, based on apparent real-life examples. This is the strength and the weakness of the book for me - when a dog's behaviour might not be easily resolved by the solutions put forward, we've breezily moved on to the next anecdote, which might leave dog companions/caretakers feeling disappointed. Resources are largely American, but these days it's easy to find resources in the UK or other relevant countries with a web search.
Would it have been reassuring to have been given this before I embarked on life with a brand new puppy? Probably.
Would it be useful for new adoptees of a rescue dog with multiple complex problems? Maybe not.

A great resource book, written in an informal, chatty style, which makes for an easy read. Lots of information, much of it based on getting us to think of things from your dog's point of view - and take into account their instinctive behaviour. It has something for everyone, with lots of different questions and answers and then more general advice on training. I like how the author takes different breed traits into account too. Lots of 'did you know' facts, that explain our dogs' behaviours.
I'm a UK reader, so just to point out that the resources and organisations are US-based. Not a problem for US readers, of course.

A handy little book for and dog owner - especially first timers. It would be wonderful if every prospective dog owner were to receive a copy of this with their pet!

A handy little book that provides tips and tricks about interacting with the furry family members. Approaches from a friendly and professional angle that treats the dogs as part of the household.

A great little book with lots of tips and tricks for improving your dog's behaviour which acknowledges the differences between breeds. I particularly liked how the author met every submission/query with empathy without the instructions and advice coming off as patronising. More ideal for a new dog-owner, especially those getting a puppy, however I did still learn a few things on how to be a better dog-owner (or pet-parent, as the author likes to use)!

Thank you to NetGalley for this arc in exchange for an honest review.

This was an easy, enjoyable read and I highlighted a fair few parts of training techniques I want to try out on my dog.

I really appreciated the fact the author's base viewpoint seems to be your dog being a member of the family with the right to roam the house etc vs other books which really heavily emphasize the use of crates and baby gates etc to limit their access. Slight quibbles were it's very American, a little outdated with some of the pack references and I think there could have been slightly more detailed instructions given or some of the techniques.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the review copy.

This is a great book that gives lots of helpful advice on rearing a dog, in a helpful question and answer format. Very useful for a first-time dog owner – would make a great gift if you know somebody like that!

Moore is a dog trainer and lover who wrote the original Dog Behavior Answer Book. She wanted to update it for a modern audience. While the questions people have may be more numerous, for new dog owners, much of the material is necessary, basic knowledge. I have owned and trained (to various levels) three other dogs and I still found useful information.

The book is written in a question and answer format: This leads to the book feeling very warm and welcoming. Many of the questions would be ones that people would have for a new dog. At the end of the book, Moore also provides training hints and tips for basic skills every dog should have. What I found very useful were the sections on how to approach a vet appointment. I would definitely recommend this book for anyone who is about to adopt a dog for the first time and as a useful reminder book even if this is your nth dog.

What a delightful book. I really enjoyed it and it gave me a lot of insight into my wee dog and why he does the things he does.

It was written well and I really liked the way the Author made the book like a question-and-answer session. Some of the issues Im sure we won't run into but others made me think, I must come back and look at this again once hes older.

Thanks to Netgalley and Storey Publishing for the ARC. My review is my own opinion.
