Racing with Aloha
by Fred Haywood
An Amazingly personal story of growing up in Hawaii in the 50's and 60's. The start of the surfing industry and the building of legends. Its astounding in it's description of the freedom, adventure and daring of the family and friends in the small community they lived in. Spearfishing off the island in the reefs, surfing on all sides of the island, breaking the rules to use the water shoot just for a fun ride. It all leads up to a man who has adventure in his bones, and daring in his heart.

Racing with Aloha is a delightful story about growing up in Hawaii in the 1950’s and 60’s and becoming a waterman. Fred Haywood's story is reminiscent of sitting at the feet of your grandfather listening to stores of his youth and childhood. Earned wisdom is spread throughout this book – a true adventure for anyone who loves the water and water sports. A 5-star read! I received an ARC of this book and the opinions expressed are my own.
