I am not a praise singer but I do love singing with my family during our family music jams and I am always looking to improve. My husband and kids play instruments and my voice is my only instrument other than a bit of dulcimer and piano, so I figure I'd better be good. This book was way over my head for most of the time, but I think it will be a great resource for those who are trained in music and singing. As it is written for praise singers, it is filled with scripture and Christian encouragement. Do keep in mind that it is written for conservative Christians in particular, with advice like encouraging women to "respect the authority" of men. There are many exercises given and an overview of how to read music, what damages vocal cords and much, much more. It is very in depth and also goes into a lot of personal info about the author's path, struggles and history both in the music industry and as a Christian.

I read a digital ARC of this book via Net Galley.

Wow there is a lot of information in this book and I loved the fact that it not only covered the basics of singing but also a lot about the science behind how to sing and look after your voice as well as how to prepare as well as improve your instrument. Fascinating read with lots of useful advice.
