I read this book with my 3 year old. I enjoyed reading it with him and explaining gratitude to him. He seemed to grasp the concept well. There were great illustrations too!

This book is nice, I just didn't like the phrase "boys and girls" because there's more than just two options.

So. Precious.

This book was not only adorable, but is sorely needed for the children who are in the trenches of elementary school during the early 2020s. It helps teach about kindness, reminding us of the need and worth of gratitude through little shared moments themed around the alphabet. As the book progresses, Orbit challenges each child to share a story of gratitude based on each letter of their ABCs. Orbit, with his double bandaid reminder of the state of our world, does this to refocus them on the goodness that is still present despite the way our world is hurting.

Through an empathetic journey of the alphabet, Orbit helps show that everyone has a tale to tell of their gratitude and the power that feeling has to help.

The concept of this book is a good one. I love a book that explains character traits or social skills in a child friendly way, which this story did a nice job of.

I felt like the main character (a globe named Orbit) was a bit of an odd choice; the setting is a sleepover camp in the woods…any type of woodland character would have been a better fit.

I loved the concept of giving examples of how we can show gratitude for everyday things (ie acorns and clouds) but I think the point could have been made with just a few examples instead of every letter of the alphabet as it made the book drag on a bit…or perhaps the story could be called a gratitude alphabet book so the reader knows that will be the format.

As an elementary school counselor I would possibly use parts of this story with small groups or classes; but perhaps instead of going through and reading each letter of the alphabet choose a few of my favorites and then challenge students to complete the other letters with things they are grateful for.

Mindfulness and gratitude are the key to a happier, healthier life, and the earlier we can teach children this invaluable skill, the better. This lovely book does this in such an effortless manner. The illustrations are lovely, and the story drives the point across about how we can find gratitude in the smallest of things, and all around us. What a fabulous way of teaching children what gratitude is, and how to show it.

Thank you to BooksGoSocial and Netgalley for an eARC of this book to read and review.

This is a great resource for teaching young children about gratitude. By working through the ABCs, readers are given numerous examples of things to be grateful for. This is a great example of learning through repetition.

Cute illustrations accompany and reinforce the lessons.

Upbeat and educational.

The Power of Gratitude by Ruth Maille is a children's picture book with a very important message. With colorful illustrations and a lovely story, this book teaches children about how being grateful can impact the world in a positive way. According to the description, this book "provides 26 specific examples that children can see in their own lives, helping children to grow their capacity for gratitude, kindness, positivity, and empathy."

Overall, The Power of Gratitude is a children's picture book with a lovely message. One highlight of this book is that it has a very important message. I think that children's picture books are incredibly important when they teach children about being kind and being thankful. These lessons are good for everyone to learn. I took off 2 stars, because unfortunately, I just wasn't drawn into the story, and the art didn't really appeal to me. If you're intrigued by the description, you can check out this book, which is available now.

I remember a long-ago course on developing *an attitude of gratitude*, and then there were all those reminders by Norman Vincent Peale. This book is a mini reminder of the benefits of feeling and expressing gratitude and while presented for children, it is good for all of us. I especially like that it is simply written and appropriate for ESL of any (or no) faith. The illustrations are colorful and engaging. Excellent for home, school, ESL of any age!
I requested and received a free temporary e-book copy from BooksGoSocial via NetGalley. Thank you!

Buying this for my daughter! I thought this was a fantastic way to introduce the concept of gratitude and how to learn to express gratefulness and feel gratitude. I think this does a really effective job of helping a child learn about the different ranges of emotions and how to recognize them and express them. The artwork was really well done and I think a child would find it really interesting. A+!

This is a fantastic children's book, which has really cute characters (Orbit is so awesome), simple and easy to read text, and beautiful, colourful graphics. The teachings of the book are all about being grateful, such as what it means to be grateful, and ways in which we can be more grateful to others. The book is really fun, and my daughter and I loved it a lot. It helped her to learn her alphabet, since the book is set up as a really useful and in-depth A-Z of different things we can feel gratitude for. This would be a great book to have in a nursery or school. Highly recommended!

A beautiful illustrated book with words of wisdom. It expresses the ability to be thankful for not only the big positive experiences but also the little experiences one has. It explains what gratitude can do that is easily understood by young children (ages 3-8). What I liked was it even reminded me the wonder of gratitude. It is a true treasure.

Liked some of the quirky things to be greatful for - imaginations, questions, zipper. If you are thinking its all over the place, its because it covers all the alphabets. Great A-Z gratitude game.
Kid asked about Earth day. If we celebrate it or not. We decided what we will do for next earth day. Also found that today is Llama Day, Christmas card Day.

Fantastic story that teaches kids how to hold gratitude in their hearts and attitudes for everything they are privileged for in life as well as when things go wrong. Orbit takes the kids through the alphabet: F is for fingers, which are very useful and make our lives easier and more fun. Orbit also teaches the students how to find the bright side of tough situations. Very humbling and eye opening for any kid who has yet to learn about the positivity the shifting mindset of gratitude brings!

Also: fantastic illustrations. I do think I would like some pages more if there was less white space as a background instead of a more visually engaging image, but no biggie!

The Power of Gratitude is a charmingly illustrated picture book about how important it is to be grateful for what you have and the more you practice gratitude, the better you will be at it. The children then go on a gratitude hunt and find something to be grateful for representing each letter of the alphabet.
