This is a fast paced twisty thriller. The atmosphere was dark and there was a well depicted toxic friendship.
The ending was a little disappointing and I guessed one of the twists.

Another great read from Harriet. I'm not sure I liked any of the characters, but perhaps this is exactly what Harriet was aiming for. Assured storytelling, definitely recommended! Many thanks to NetGallet for the opportunity to read and review.

"It Ends At Midnight" by Harriet Tyce is a gripping and suspenseful thriller that will keep you guessing until the very end. The story revolves around a group of old college friends who reunite for a New Year's Eve party, only for their secrets and lies to be exposed as the night progresses.

Tyce's writing is taut and atmospheric, with a keen eye for detail that brings the characters and setting to life. The pacing is excellent, with just the right amount of tension and suspense to keep the reader hooked.

The characters are all well-drawn and complex, with their own motivations and secrets.

Overall, "It Ends At Midnight" is a well-crafted and satisfying thriller that is sure to keep readers on the edge of their seats. Tyce's writing is sharp and insightful, and the twists and turns of the plot are well-executed. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good psychological thriller.

I couldn’t put this book down!!!! Loved the mystery of this book and how things flipped back and forth. This is well written so unique and compelling.

a little silly to be honest and the ending seemed to be obvious from very early on. characters are wooden and dialogue unnecessary, I found myself saying out loud...who would actually say that

This is a dark and compelling psychological thriller, a real page turner that will keep you guessing. It is a book that throws you straight in, beginning with a New Years Eve party in Edinburgh where two people fall to their death from the roof. Who are they and what has happened?

We go back to find out what happened leading up to that fateful night, and begin to learn more about Tess and Sylvie, friends since childhood, who share a dark secret from their school days. With Tess coming to terms with some devastating news, she is keen for her and Sylvie to confront their past, but Sylvie knows the risk that poses to her successful legal career. But it soon becomes clear that things may be taken out of their hands, as someone is out for revenge

This is the story of a truly toxic friendship, mired by their shared secrets and guilt, and full of jealousy and resentment. I am a big fan of legal thrilers and Tyce's real life experience shines through those aspects of the story - with strong characterisation and an underlying sense of unease throughout the book, it kept me turning the pages as it headed to its dramatic conclusion.

This dark psychological thriller was an excellent read and had me gripped throughout. Set in Edinburgh at Hogmanay, it opens with the thought narrative of someone impaled on railings - their identity isn't revealed which just adds to the tension of what's to come.

Based around the friendship between old school friends, Sylvie and Tess, who are harbouring secrets from their past. When Tess reveals she has an inoperable brain tumour and wants to unburden herself with the guilt of carrying them, Sylvie is fearful of the outcome. Tess also wants to renew her wedding vows to Marcus, despite their marriage problems. It's the vow renewal that brings them to Edinburgh and the stage is set for an explosive ending. If you're looking for fireworks, then you've come to the right place!

Highly recommend.

My thanks to NetGalley and Headline for a copy of “ It Ends At Midnight “ for an honest review.

This is my first read of a Harriet Tyce book and I found it to be a very well written and suspenseful novel
It took me a little while to get into the story, possibly because I found the disliked the main characters, but the tension built up quickly .We know from the start there will be 2 people ending up dead , but who ?
Rather a dark book , with some unpleasant sex scenes, which might offend some.Overall I’d give it 4.5 stars and intend to read some of the author’s previous work.

Thank you to NetGalley, Headline publishers and Harriet Tyce for an ARC in return for an honest review.

This is a show stopping book. It starts off a little slow whilst the scene is being set and then dramatically ramps up. It is intense, gripping and truly thrilling. This is psychological thriller 101. Lies. deceit and secrets.. what’s not to love? I think it was even better than Blood Orange. It’ll be a best seller for sure.

This is perfect for fans of Jane Corry and Shari Lapena.

Thanks to NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book. It was a good psychological thriller with good writing. Some character who were not very likeable but intentionally so! It was built up well as a storyline and I enjoyed the read, though the ending was a little abrupt.

A tense and creepy sense of unease in this outstanding psychological thriller. On the run up to Hogmanay, barrister Sylvie is contacted by her seriously ill old school pal Tess. She wants to right past wrongs. But rather than 'Auld Lang Syne' it will be murder by midnight. A resolutely engrossing tale.

I read and loved Blood Orange by Harriet Tyce when it came out so I was very keen to get my hands on this book and I’m so pleased to say that I loved it. It opens with a dramatic scene where someone is seriously injured and then we slowly find out who it is and what led up to this moment. The novel follows Sylvie and Tess who were best friends at school but have drifted apart as their lives moved in different directions. Then one day Tess calls Sylvie with awful news and the two meet up again. Sylvie slowly starts to lose control on her life as Tess becomes a bigger part of it and we slowly get to see how these women are friends and what keeps them connected. There are secrets and lies and a very toxic friendship, with history to be uncovered! The novel is building to a big finale and I couldn’t read it quick enough to find out how it was all going to end. I read this whole novel in one sitting because I just didn’t want to put it down. I loved it and I highly recommend it!

I haven't read any of Harriet Tyce's books before, despite hearing them talked about quite often. But what drew me in was the fact that some of this would be set in Edinburgh, which I know well.
This had me hooked and had some great twists, a few of which I wasn't expecting.
It may be a little over the top at points but I still enjoyed seeing where the story would go, considering we know that it will end in the deaths of two people.
I also enjoyed the look into the legal world.
I will definitely be going back and reading more of Harriet Tyce's back catalogue after enjoying this as much as I did.
Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

though (similarly to the author’s first book Blood Orange), it left me disappointed by the predictable ending. I enjoyed the courtroom scenes, the trials and the atmospheric descriptions of Edinburgh. Overall it was a decent book but not a memorable one.
