A Belter…
Expect the unexpected in this superlative suspense with a deadly edge. With a cast of credible and well drawn characters, an explosive storyline, clever narrative and twists and turns aplenty this grabs the reader from the off and holds on until the, perhaps, unexpected and superb denouement. A belter.

Harriet Tyce is fast becoming one of those authors who you can't wait for the next book to be released. She is the queen of twists and turns and books that leave you reading up until the early hours.
Her new book 'It ends at midnight does not disappint.
Her main character Sylvie aspires to be a judge when she takes on a case that may affect her ambitious goal. The underlying topic is friendship and this runs throughout the novel with Sylvie's relationship with her best friend and an event that happened when they were teenagers. It's this friendship that delivers the exceptional ending, one which I did not predict.
Tyce's characters are dark, twisted, and gritty and they are exceptionally believable.

Wow, this is another spectacular legal page-turner from Harriet Tyce, I had to ignore my family until it was finished! Sylvie is a lawyer at the top of her game, winning unwinnable cases and with her application for promotion firmly in her sights. She is quite a loner but has a best friend from school, and a lovely new partner who is everything she never knew she needed. Her fortunes change when she gets some terrible news from her friend and hidden secrets threaten to come out.
The book starts with dead bodies and a fox licking up blood so you know there are deaths to come, and is told in flashbacks to Sylvie's teenage years, her present life and also mini chapters from the people discovering the bodies afterwards for added insight.
Well worth a read, thanks to Netgalley for the chance to read it so early

This book was well written with a good story and very well developed characters that added a further dimension to the storyline. It was gothically dark and creepy and so unpredictable, I didnt see the twists coming and the final twist had my mouth on my chest and my heart pounding. I really enjoyed it and devoured it really quickly.

Ever since her stunning debut Blood Orange Harriet Tyce is a must read asap author.

It Ends At Midnight starts with the discovery of two dead bodies on the street, still bleeding.

The story centres around Sylvie, a legal professional hoping to soon be a judge. She has been friends with Tess since school and have been through the highs and lows together. As teenagers both were key witnesses in a court case, and the past may be coming back to haunt them.

The characterisation is very good, the atmosphere is impressive, deep, dark and full of dread as we creep towards the two deaths and Sylvie tries to stay focussed while losing confidence in those around her.

It is weighted towards the finale, the looming two deaths and the full revelation of the truth about the past. Not the fastest read, but recommended if you like brooding atmospheres and creeping tension.

I really enjoy legal thrillers as well as the writing of author Harriet Tyce so this novel was a win, win for me.

A New Year’s Eve party in Edinburgh is tragically disrupted when two guests fall from the roof and are impaled on the cast iron railings.

Tess, who was recently diagnosed with a possible terminal illness was getting back together with old friends. Being faced with the sudden threat of death she was feeling it was her last chance to make things right. Her marriage to Marcus had hit a rough patch and they were growing apart but she knew this would be the perfect opportunity to renew their vows, surrounded by everyone they love.

Both Tess and her closest friend Sylvie had carried guilt for many years and now Tess was desperate to obtain closure. But as midnight approaches it becomes clear that someone doesn’t want a resolution, they want revenge.

I really enjoyed this one and in particular the court scenes. Great characters and plenty of suspense, twists and excellent writing.

I would like to thank both NetGalley and Wildfire for supplying a copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.

Good novel.
It's New Year's Eve and the stage is set for a lavish party in one of Edinburgh's best postcodes. It's a moment for old friends to set the past to rights - and move on. The night sky is alive with fireworks and the champagne is flowing. But the celebration fails to materialise. Because someone at this party is going to die tonight. Midnight approaches and the countdown begins - but it seems one of the guests doesn't want a resolution. They want revenge.

Firstly a big thank you to the publishers for my copy to review on netgalley. I LOVE this author and her books are fantastic.

A story of friendship, revenge love and loss.

Tense and foreboding as we reach new years eve . We know something happened in the past and something is going to happen ..but what exactly?? Who is Linda and why now is her name being mentioned?

Unpredictable and very clever. Thought provoking and incredibly relevant in today’s society.

Twisty and thrilling which is everything we have come to expect from a Harriet Tyce book. Highly recommend if you enjoy a page turner that will have you reading into the early hours.

I was thrilled to be granted the opportunity to read It Ends At Midnight as I loved the author's debut Blood Orange. It Ends At Midnight focuses on three narratives- in present day Edinburgh 2 bodies are found impaled on railings after a New Years Eve celebration, in London, Sylvie is a barrister hoping to become a judge and in 1999 the focus is on a teenage Sylvie and her best friend Tess growing up in Edinburgh. How do the narratives connect and what impact will Sylvie's teenage decisions have on her life and her career ? I loved the different narratives and the way the author slowly brings them together through such clever plotting. I felt the tension throughout and found it difficult to know who to trust as the pace increased. I felt that the author really explored the sense of what it was to be a young woman in 1999 and how the decisions we made then may be so different now. I loved the exploration of memory and truth and I was completely gripped by the toxic relationship between Sylvie and Tess. A well paced and compelling thriller that I loved. Highly recommended.
Many thanks to the NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this digital ARC.
