Another brilliant book by Linwood Barclay. Exciting, thrilling, real edge of your seat drama. I can’t wait for the next book.

Sadly I've come to realise that no matter how much I want to, this just isn't the author for me. I've read so many of Linwood Barclay's books that have been highly reviewed or recommended to me and in all honesty I just don't particularly enjoy them.

Whilst I quite like the writing style with attention to details and multiple twists and turns, I felt the drag throughout which is always a negative for me and it just didn't hold my attention doe any length of time so my mind would wander.

To be Frank, I was left underwhelmed.

Thanks to netgalley and HQ for the ARC.

I enjoyed this thriller. I found the characters relatable and the way the story unfolded held me attention to the end. I look forward to the next book from this author.

Many thanks to Netgalley and Linwood Barclay for the advanced copy of this book. I agree to give my unbiased opinion voluntarily.

Six years ago when Andrew Mason was away at a lodge on a fishing trip with his friend Greg, he returned home to find his wife Brie had disappeared without a trace. The police were called and everyone assumed that Andrew had got away with murder, but the police had not been able to build a strong case against him.

Now six years later he has finally got his life back together after a tough few years drinking too much, being abandon by all of his friends and nearly losing his business. He has sold the old house he lived in with Brie, which had been knocked down and a new house built in its place.

Andrew now has a new partner Jayne and life is good. But his peaceful world is about to be turned upside down when a woman who looks like Brie turns up at her old home screaming

" Where's my house?"
"What's happened to my house?"

Could Brie be alive after all these years? Where had she been?

A great gripping thriller packed with suspense and tension. The twists kept me guessing until the end.

Thank you to Netgalley for my copy in exchange for an honest review.

Another fantastic suspense book from Linwood Barclay. Kept me guessing and on the edge of my seat the whole way through and has a mind blowing twist at the end.

Six years after the disappearance of his wife Andrew Mason is still suspected of being responsible. He has changed his name and begun a new life for himself and his missing wife seems to have suddenly reappeared.
This is a complicated tale which takes many twists and turns. A page turner.
Many thanks to Netgalley/Linwood Barclay/HQ for a digital copy of this title. All opinions expressed are my own.

Another great book from Linwood Barclay! Never has a title been so relevant while reading take my breath away, it literally takes your breath away!
So many twists and turns, a must read. Brilliant!

As with all of Linwood Barclay's book I was launched into a fast paced thriller with twists and turns all over the place. I love this psychological thriller where you are completely engrossed in a book and forget all about real life happening around you. I read it in one sitting. I had to because I could not have experienced it properly. Fantastic book.

A thoroughly enjoyable, fast-moving, page-turner. This book is full of mystery, secrets and action. It is suspenseful and kept my brain fully immersed: weaving my way through the mysteries, trying to pre empt the ending. The twists just kept coming, throwing my thoughts into a tumble, with blind alleys galore.

I was suspecting each of the characters in turn, there were so many feasible options. The
plotting was tight and the characterisation realistically portrayed. Detective Hardy was a really vengeful detective, with little sympathy for Andrew Mason, who I found does evoke real empathy. What really happened six years ago?

Linwood Barclay has written a powerful psychological thriller, that may well ‘Take Your Breath Away!’

Linwood Barclay's books are next level of crime fiction. When you start the book, you know even a trivial of things will have its importance. You can keep guessing the culprit, but the end of the book will just blow your mind. Take your breath away is one of them.

Andy has everything in his life one morning before he goes on a fishing trip. The next day everything is taken from him and becomes a suspect in his wife's disappearance. After struggling for many years, he finally found peace. He has a new family, and a new partner, Jayne. But, after six years, a woman turns up asking where is her house and that question brings Andy's world down.

The book has several subplots, quite like Barclay's other books. the pages keep you hooked until the last page. the book is like an onion, one has to peel through to reach the climax.

My rating for the book is 4.5 stars.

This is one of those great did he or didn't he do it books where you change your mind from chapter to chapter. Linwood Barclay is a master at this sort of story so that this is a great read will come as no surprise to his legion of fans. If this author is new to you then I am truly envious because you have a great back catalogue to make your way through.

This was a great read with lots of twists and turns that I didn't see coming. Loved the storyline. and the characters developed well throughout. Thought at first it may be a slow burner but then it picked up and there was so much happening!

Another hit from Linwood Barclay and well recommended.

Thank you Netgalley.

This is my first read by Linwood Barclay and I don’t think it’ll be my last. From the end of the opening chapter, I knew I was in for a treat and needed to keep reading! I loved the chapters of fast paced dialogue in police interviews, as it added extra layers to the story, current and in the past and the twists and turns kept me guessing! Imagine having someone you love disappear and you see them again years later…it’s such a thrilling concept of what happened, who was involved and what is going on!? Thank you to @hqstories for letting me part of this #booktour and ‘Take Your Breath Away’ is now out!

Brie Mason disappears from her home while her husband Andrew is away on a fishing weekend with his friend and business partner Greg. The police and some of Brie's family are convinced that Andrew is behind her disappearance but there is no evidence to prove this theory. Six years later Andrew has moved out of the area, changed his surname and is living with a new partner Jayne and her 16 year old brother Tyler. One day Andrew receives a phone call from an old neighbour who says Brie has turned up at the old house in a distressed state but has driven away again. Then Brie is spotted by some of her family but disappears before they can speak to her. Andrew is determined to find out if this is Brie and, if it is, where has she been for six years and why does she keep disappearing.

I really enjoyed reading this book though I have to say it got rather far fetched towards the end. Nevertheless it was an entertaining read.

Yet another brilliant story from Linwood Barclay. I have read many of his books and have found them all exciting and different. This one set in the epidemic is full of twists and turns.

In Take Your Breath Away, a woman goes missing. It's naturally assumed by the woman's family and the police that the husband is responsible, and he spends the next six years with the disappearance clouding over his life. Then one day, his missing wife is spotted.

This is a typical Barclay novel - fast-paced and fun, and the reader is left guessing until the very end.

Linwood Barclay sure knows how to write a novel!

Many thanks to Linwood Barclay, NetGalley, and HQ for this copy.

It’s always the husband, isn’t it?
When his wife Brie vanishes from their home one night, never to be seen again, people assume Andy got away with murder. The police can’t build a case against him, but still his friends and neighbours abandon him.
Six years later, Andy’s life is back on track, and he’s settled with a new girlfriend. And when he hears his old house has been bulldozed and rebuilt, he’s not bothered. Things are good.
But then one day, a woman who looks like Brie shows up at their old address, screaming ‘Where’s my house? What happened to my house?’ before vanishing as quickly as she appeared.

I hadn’t read a novel by Linwood Barclay but I will definitely now look out his other books. The storyline flowed and the characters were varied and interesting - it kept me guessing until near the end as to who was the suspect in the earlier missing persons case and what had actually happened.. I couldn’t put the book down and had a few late nights getting through it!

Thanks for NetGalley and the publisher for a chance to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

The usual Linwood Barclay suspense where the reader has no clue of the ending. A good read and flows well. Recommended.
